Because they stack. Each time you repeat an event, you have an additional 30% speed bonus from the 3 badges you earned, last time you did that event, +3% for everything else. That also feeds into a node chain in Reality Engine for Primary progress.

Idk how they'll convert, but one idea could be that you'll have your existing nodes refunded, then the resulting metabits translated into the new currencies, at which point you'll have a bunch of nodes to buy and go from there. That's my guess how they'll do it.

It's handy for refreshing nanobots and the x30 shooting star + nanobot combo if you want to grind primary (most effective to finish Meso first though).

Also saves time in events when you double the offline boost: good for speed-running an event.
