the general answer is just to be patient

but another tip is to focus on other simulations

like mesozoic and beyond

progressing there will directly affect your main sim's production

and another thing to note, don't reboot too many times, that will actually increase your metabit costs and may end catastrophically (afaik)

reboot when you believe that you've gained enough green gems (metabits btw) for upgrades + the reboot will increase your simulation speed well

Short answer: ||No, and it’s for the leaderboard thing.||

Long answer:

||Your “Division ID” depends on when you join the event. I think it’s given in the order in which players start.
Also, to make sure that divisions don’t contain too many players, thus making the events astronomically competitive, each player is placed into a certain division based on when they begin the event.
A player who begins the event right as it begins will be in a different division than a player who begins the event two days late, for instance.
In fact, joining late is a good strategy for climbing the leaderboard. Since every division has its own leaderboard (each leaderboard with the same rewards), many players take advantage of the fact that the rate of joining is highest at the start of the event, and gradually goes down.
In other words, joining later puts you into into a division which has fewer people, thus less competition, thus a better shot for a higher position on the leaderboard, thus a better shot for greater rewards.||

I have bought both, I produce around 1.6 billion a second but next upgrade costs 50 QUADRILLION and it will take me months if not years to reach this. (Side note: That upgrade actually costed 100 quadrillion, but I emailed cells and I think they listened)

1.6 billion to 1.6 quadrillion is a multiplier of 1 million, so about 11 days to get 1.6 quadrillion. 1.6 quadrillion to 50 quadrillion is ~31x, so you're somewhere around 340 days. However, you can also get stuff for a higher production, namely more badges and more Beyond and Meso ranks (assuming you haven't maxed them yet)
