meso and beyond gives you a good boost to metabit (i assume that's what you mean by progress) production. meso is 5% per stage and 50% per prestige. you should progress in those. there are also augments you can save up for that will give you a large buff, specifically capybara and giant squid. volcano is also a good one because of the boost it gives to meso

• progress through Mezo/Beyond to further boost your speed with the right upgrades.
• win logits in events for the capybara and squid (they'll get better than feliforms)

squid is best, but can be expensive if you haven't gotten the capybara first, so that's what I'd recommend

capybara, then squid --- plus the volcano if you're playing meso at all. running prestige there will get you a boost that you can increase in your reality engine

I found it fascinating that the "research projects" for Beyond's dark matter are not proportionate in comparing the dark matter to time spent. The smallest is for 15 minutes (which can be brought down to 3 minutes with the x4 boost +1 for Gemini), yet 300 takes a whole day (or 1/5 a day from said boosts). Thus, calculating which is "most efficient" would seem to indicate the smallest value, but that's only true if you maximize your micromanagement. The fascinating point, as a result, is that it's less about squeezing the most out of the dark matter and more about setting your own pace; checking in more casually would have the bigger lump sums be more efficient when it'll be idling/waiting for the player either way.
