This is quite late, but I understand. It's above the floating point value that the program can handle. I also thought of it the first way, but the second way I didn't think about. How does a number get "corrupted"?

@agile mortar So a number is just an interpretation of a bit pattern. Memory, both active RAM and storage just holds a series of 1s & 0s and the "meaning" of those 1s & 0s is up to a program. If, due to a bug, the program writes a pattern in a location that it wasn't supposed to, then the original value has become corrupted. I'll give a simple toy example of how that might happen. Let's say we have a program that stores the name of a person as a string of characters and that persons age as an integer. The silly programmer figures that no name could be longer than 20 characters so only 20 successive memory locations are set aside to store that name. The 21st location is where the age is stored. The program asks the user for their name and the person types in a name that's longer than 20 characters. The silly programmer forgets to limit the number of characters that the program accepts so just writes them all, overwriting the 21st location with a pattern of 1s & 0s that represents a character. Now the place where the age is stored has been corrupted! In the real world of programming, there's lots of ways for bugs to cause memory corruption. (Please forgive me if you actually know a lot about programming. I don't know how much you do know so had to assume very little.)
