- make sure you spend at least a bit of dark matter on the more recent cards (im on lvl 3 inner, lvl 4 gas giants, lvl 5 trans neptunian, lvl 6 alpha cen, and trying to get more cards for stars)
- use research, the 1 extra slot is worth it

also of course when progressing through a rank the objectives usually arent top priority
like if youre on ice giants and the game wants you to buy mars for an objective dont do it yet because most of your stardust comes from the more recent generators (unless the objective gives something really good like a nre generator)
then once you have enough stardust/sec to get the objectives kinda easily then kill those

i think what's missing in these new upgrades in the stone age/neolithic is that inspirational excited descriptions to it that makes you feel like you're progressing with the in-game humanity
for example, the new lever upgrade

the first mistake is, instead of using "we", they wrote "humans"
it no longer feels like we're in the world, more like just a god or a student
