#Changes to Self-destruct, Invisibility and Barbed cards.

I understand balance is definitely quite subjective. However I would like to give my opinions on few cards and how they could be changed to be less annoying and more fun to use!

  1. Self-Destruct currently works in a way where dying causes the explosion. Using card thief to steal the detonator only kills the person who uses the detonator. (doesn't cause the explosion). I would prefer if dying didn't cause the explosion, instead the detonator would (explosion + death). This would allow more counterplay and reward good timing. Also being able to card thief detonator and make enemies explode on command would be hillarious!

  2. Currently invisibility card doesn't have a max duration which can enable players to avoid battle/ wait and cause frustration when wanted. I would personally like to see 2 changes made for invisibility:
    A. Max duration (probably around 20 seconds or so) which would reward more aggressive play/ surprising enemies instead of hiding.
    B: Full invisibility. Currently invisible players have an effect that is visible even from longer ranges and allows some people to shoot invisible targets quite easily. However I do like this effect. I have an idea. All cards that cause invisibility effect should use this effect to fade in to perfect invisibility (without outlines). This would make invisibility more consistent. Poison, blood, predator vision, fire, damage numbers and so on would still reveal them the same way as it currently does.

  3. Changing barbed cards from a debuff to a wild card. This would allow more strategy and deck building with barbed cards. It would still be great synergy with hot potatoes (forcing enemies to take damage) but it would no longer be free damage since all players are barbed. It would still have synergy with garbage and invisible hand. However players would have to be more cautious as to when to use it. I believe this change would make barbed cards less annoying and more skill rewarding.

Plz don’t buff invisibility (adding duration is good though). SDD nerf sounds fun. More importantly I think SDD needs a big range decrease tho

Not loving the barbed cards idea. Although I do think barbs need a lil nerf

  2. We are working on this to avoid griefing.

  3. The synergy of Hot Potato and Barbed Cards is insane at the moment, we probably are going to do something about this quite soon.

I can understand that. It can confuse beginners for sure. Pretty sure most people expect to be invisible. (I wouldn't be surprised if they think people are cheating who shoot them during invis)

Ninja log and ninja smoke provide speedboost so being visible isn't that big of an issue. So are you considering making Visibility card have a similar effect or making it have a max duration and potentially true invisible when standing still (allowing surprises but not repositioning in front of someone) ?

Feel like barbs would be underpowered if they applied to yourself, think true invisibility would be too strong as being completely unable to see the opponent makes them able to sneak all the way up to you and attack you from any angle which will take you a while to adjust to once you start getting shot at, if they’re creative with their angles. I don’t think partial invisibility is amazing because games with it always end up having it both overpowered and underpowered based on your opponents vision and the quality of their graphics, but I think FvF does it fairly well

Fair enough. And I agree FvF does at least do partial invisibility well.

Still I personally prefer true invisibility since it creates consistency. For example partial invisibility's visibility is highly affected by monitor/ graphic settings. So for some people it may be very difficult to spot invisible enemies and for others it may be quite easy.

And yes barbs could be changed in other ways as well to reduce frustration and increase the fun aspect. Personally I would have enjoyed using barbed cards as a wild card more. (Still punishing enemies from using cards/ using combos with it)

Alternatively a new card that allows players to get slightly healed when they use a card could be interesting. (a very small heal but would work well with combo decks) 👍

I will say I’m a huge fan of wild cards that apply to both teams and would love to see more of them, I just don’t see barbs being that useful because it doesn’t have great combos. I mean potato you can do thick skin or ice block or bigger explosions or something to combo with, parley you can use to close a gap and then pull out a shotgun, barbs just sound like they’d lack enough potential to pick them

i personally think its fine since we have so many other cards to counter a dumb 1 card counter.
