#Mechanical Keyboards
1515 messages · Page 2 of 2 (latest)
Like you look at this as a highschooler and thought "that's the coolest looking thing I've ever seen"
"I want that"
yea the memchanical keyboard with the rbg underlight lol
i always think about relearning with all my fingers but i just dont think id ever be able to do it now
im too deep
yea but something similar to this but backlit when i was in highschool
Oh ok
But back then if you had a Das, you're pretty much endgame
..................................riiiiiiight until custom keeb market boomed
If you own a Das now, you're...pretty much scammed out of your money
Because what that is is... Cherry MX Browns
With PBT blanks (good PBTs tho)
Aluminium housing
Steel plate with no meaningful padding
And soldered
and it retailed about 199 dollars
And that was 2014
It still sold for 179 today kek
Which is overpriced for what it is
that's why the recent development in the keeb scene has been so good for budget builds
no more thousand plus budgets for a brass weight keyboard with a hardass metal plates that makes you fingers hurt when typing
bro I suck
I choked mid race everytime
this is Typeracer btw
Monkeytype quote mediium
Interesting
I just found out I cannot do more than about 20 mins of typing challenges
After that I will horribly choke
Damn
yeah i struggle after like 10 minutes haha
typing fatigue hurts real bad
I struggle instantly
bought the k2 pro. after so long it was finally in stock. 126, but gonna assume customs will come on top of it too
praying to the no customs gods
owo what config?
like this
ayy
You planning to change the switch soon?
Or you're gonna taste the Reds first?
im just sticking with these. is first mechanical for me so idk anything. better leave as is for now
right
Post your Monkeytype results later
will take a couple weeks atleast till i get it prob
lmao
with my current keyboard did this for the first time ever
Already
You're miles better than me
I am hardstuck at 70-75
probably entirely my fault
with accuracy? i am ussualy horrible at accuracy. obv with the million amounts of typos i make here
is that what it says? cuz i did
On a normal day if I have a good mood
Well.. you corrected it fully
am currently very sleepy, but shouldn't have affected it at all for me
yeah ez
Again, fault of my own
i think it reduces your 30s timer for each mistake
mistakes get me bad
im sorry, but that even looks horrible
yes
it looks cool to me
I mean my initial attempt was full black
But then I wanna Lip themed it
So yeah
Lip Board
Had a plan to anodize/sublimate the case with custom graphics
Hadn't found the vendor yet
To be fair my dream keyboard was this
But can't afford it MSRP so I made my own
blank
-ish
I mean I can try revert back to non-snob keycaps
but would it even matter, I can't look down anyways
nyeh
I wouldn't really spend more on aesthetics anyway, because this is pretty much a work tool
aka I use it literally daily nonstop
Probably will do some re-lubing
Can someone help me with finding a good mechanical keyboard?
I'm thinking of royal kludge or keychron
What's your budget? And do you have any idea what kind of switches you like? (If you don't really know, you can get a good indication by going to local electronics store and trying out the mechanical keyboards they have on display. It'll give a bit of an indication as to what kind of switches you like.)
The typing feel is something we advise you got to a physical store to try em out
Other than that, depend on the budget but 50 dollars can get you pretty far
I don't think physical stores have them here
Or if they do, I'm probably too far away from the stores to buy them
Do you know if varmilo is good?
Varmilo is great
Always worth a shot giving a look at local large electronics stores
Just in case
stores irl will always have mechs but theyre gaming focused ones
Getting an indication for yourself how the different switch types feel helps a lot with decision making
mass produced stuff, generally fine
Yup, but just for trying out switch types still great
for sure
i wish i had that here, ive only ever been in one store that had keyboards out like that
In Europe we have Media Markt
And their Spanish branch have the biggest shitposters known to mankind as their social media team
I'm not sure if they have keyboard stores where I live though
any store that has gaming stuff will have keyboards
¡En MediaMarkt cumplimos 25 años! Ven a celebrarlo con nosotros y los Guerreros Z porque vamos a montar un fiestón 🥳 ¿Aceptas? 🤩 #MediaMarkt #25aniversarioMM
You don't have to look for keyboard stores
lmfao wtf
Just general electronic stores, they often have gaming sections with like ps5, nintendo, pc peripherals etc
I think I know which one to get
There's a lot of brands
epomaker, royal kludge are the other ones i can think of
found one for $60 dollars :o
Keychron, Ducky, Akko, Glorious, Leopold, Mountain
And the more mainstream companies like Logitech, Razer, HyperX, Corsair etc. also have good stuff, but they also have really bad stuff, so it requires a bit of research and review digging
But that honestly goes for every single brand
logitech and hyperx i would trust for mechs from gaming brands
https://epomaker.com/products/epomaker-ep84-plus?variant=46012141240628 thinking of this one
A Compact 75% Mechanical Keyboard The EPOMAKER EP84 Plus is a versatile 75% mechanical gaming keyboard that has been meticulously crafted for ultimate performance and user convenience. Its compact layout includes essential keys such as the arrows, home clusters and the F row. It is ideal for typists who appreciate the
Epomaker is pretty good
Logitech is pretty hit or miss imo. Hyperx from what I've heard is just pretty solid all-round
its logitech gaming mice i dont trust
Maximizing Functionality in Minimal Space The Ajazz AK820 comes in a 75% compact layout, offering a space-efficient design without sacrificing essential keys. This means you get the benefits of a full-sized keyboard—function keys, arrow keys, and more—while saving valuable desk real estate. The layout is further optimi
no idea if they ever fixed the double click issue
Logitech superlight series pretty goated though
yeah but theyve had huge issues with double clicks on those
Not familiar with Ajazz but probably decent
leaning towards this one
I love the looks of the Epomaker DynaTab 75X
Tax
haha
no, but i can buy it and then ask my cousin to bring it here for me LOL
becasue they're coming in august apparently
Then it's good
Since like 99% of keyboard stuff is from China it's a lot cheaper to get it directly over there
yeah
if i am going to buy the varmilo keyboard, which switches should i go for?
Which one? They have a lot of boards
And which switches all depends on your preferences
Hence the tip to visit an electronics store so you can try out switch types
yeah its basically impossible to just recommend a switch as its complete personal preference
Yeah, I would recommend tactile switches, but you might hate that, and every tactile switch is also different from one another. Like, I've used some I absolutely dont like
and id recommend linear switches
just to prove the point
Ew, cherry reds
I've had them and I hate them
There's other linears I like a lot more
If you're going with a Varmilo keyboard, get their own switches
Varmilo EC >>> Cherry

cool, seems like i should get my keyboard tomorrow or day after
woooooo
The only change I did was changing my chair and I am consistently making 80wpm+ tests
lmao of course after I posted that I tanked to 60
wow this is some getting used to for sure. keyboard is very high up, keys are position slightly differently etc... the press is nice, but the keys keys themselfs being higher is weird. their also quite a bit smaller. the cable being on the side is and look horrible. it is also way too small.
oh i got no screenshot button anymore. that is a problem
maybe you can reassign one of the keys on the side
win + shift + s is also a screenshot
doesnt do anything
i took this ss with it
mine was supposed to to be home page up end and page down
im assuming youre on windows
oh it does work, but apparantly my alt is windows. need to swap
ooo yeah
weird, i placed the keys correctly.
ctrl > win > alt
thats what i have, but apparantly it is alt and win swapped
which is why im super confused rn
strange
even on their photo that showed me which mac and wind keys to swap it was noted like this, but its wrong
via software from keychron themselfs? apparantly can remap stuff there
ye you can remap from their website and not download anything
it discoverd my keyboard very weirdly lol idk what im looking at. esp the f keys
i think that's the second layer of keyboard, you're using it rn. you can change it back to the first layer so you can use the F keys
this apparantly layer 0
didnt see the layer options earlier
that's weird layer 0 is not with the F keys?
what does mo(3) do
the middle button of your mouse
it is, but it is the fkeys
- shift combo
doesnt seem like i can do that here. wonder if i save now i lose all possibility of using fkeys with shift for double use single button
wonder what i even need fn for
ah layer 1 and 0 are for mac 2 and 3 for windows
oh keyboard was toggled on mac settings by default
oh everything works fine now. okay, cancelling then see if i can anything with fn instead
via goat
okay, so macros rlly are not for opening apps
might need a hand rest or something to reach these keys more comfortably
via is crazy the first time I used it I was like "ok how do I flash this in" but it was already applied automatically
blew my mind
because I was used to generating those hex files and flashing the microcontroller for every layout change
i have one, worth it for any keyboard imo
my prev one had one just attached to it so never had to think of it
hardest part is getting used that f1 key is where my esc used to be so need to move further now for esc
claw or fingertip
my finger is cramping after a game of ow2 but the tracking i did with tracer was kinda insane lol
Disgusting
My dream mouse is still that magnesium alloy mouse Razer made
bru mouse with holes kinda ugly
the only mouse with holes i like is pulsar x2, they still look clean
ill probs get a viper v3 pro soon
the bad scroll wheel on my finalmouse is really annoying
The Razer one is the only one I like with holes
I'm still using a viper ultimate, great mouse
Has been in service for over 3 years now
I did have to take it apart to clean the scrollwheel but besides that works great
viper is the closest ive ever had to the OG finalmouse ultralight shape
mouse wheel i could deal with but the moment it started to double click, i start looking for a replacement
the mouse i had before was darmoshark m3, pretty much a finalmouse clone shape lo. the shape was pretty cool
Deathadder, Viper, and Logitech MX Master are honestly the greatest mice shapes ever made
that reminds me
i gotta find that other ergo logitech
my mx vertical grip is melting
Sad
The grips on my viper have seen better days. You can very clearly see where exactly I hold it lol
But no reason to buy a new mouse unless this one breaks
ye that side scroll is pretty tempting
for office or everyday use
yeah i cant find it though
its not the mx master though
i swear i saw one that was basically the mx master but more vertical
mx lift?
thats just a smaller vertical
it must be not available here for me
Outside of MX Vertical and MX Lift there's nothing else here either
Pretty normal angle compared to most ergo mice
Razer, when are we getting the vertical gamer mouse???
still waiting for a good trackball mouse for office use
one with a scroll and a side scroll
maybe something like a trackpad with more features built in, so i don't have to move my right arm so often just to move my mouse across to this big ass ultrawide screen
Don't the Logitech trackball mice have a ball and regular scrollwheel?
logitech ergo m575 looks clean
but yea most looks horrendous with the big old red ball
Looks like a paint palette
oh yea it kinda does lol
I also recently had this problem, there aren't any good ergonomic mice that are usable for gaming
Sensorswap an ergo mouse

In a recent interview with The Verge, new Logitech CEO Hanneke Faber talked about the concept of a “forever mouse” and charging users a software subscription to use and update the mouse…..yeah.

Ye fuck off
Logitech went downhill after introducing the g pro superlight mouse
Wdym, Superlight is like their only good mouse lol
When it comes to gaming stuff that is
i used the g304/5 before the trend of light gaming mouse, its value is amazing.
im still mad about this lol
#kpop-chat-2 message
good thing peripherals have so much competition now that we get so much value now for the prices we've been seeing now compared back then.
Outside of the Superlight, MX Master, and MX Vertical, Logitech really doesn't have anything good huh?
TUT Yakeylt Group Buy is now live on our website!
TUTKEYS Yakeylt is a beautiful new pink and red set designed by SoSoSoya inspired by Yakeylt, the popular Japanese milk. The classic color scheme and packaging that have remained unchanged for decades make people recognize it right away.

IG embeds suck
maybe their webcams lol. 5 of them are in the top 10 best selling webcams in amazon
though i hear their racing gear sim is kinda good.
*oh boi that's another whole ass expensive hobby to have *
Those are not mice
Cleaned my keyboards and bought a new keycap set to change the profiles of this one
nice match
Cute
clone keycap set
yeah the switches. esp need spacebar heavier as just having hand ontop of it makes me jump endlessly
lmaooooo i have that habit from being a lucio main
switching to browns wont help unless youre getting like 90g ones
u should also check if your kb is hotswap 'cause unless it is you might have to de- and re-solder switches
Damn, you must have really heavy hands huh?
some people do light switches on the alphas and heavy switches otherwise
Do I... Do I not...
I hate choices

darmo shark m5 review after nearly 3 months of use
mouse history:
a prety long time user of g305/4 (goat), had the logitech g pro and a darmoshark m5
hand size: i'd say medium
first day, terrible cramps lol but after a full day of use, i'd gotten used to the size pretty quickly
grip & gaming: I mostly use it as a claw grip but i also use fingertip when the enemy movement in ow2 goes crazy lol, i felt like tracking with such a small mouse, allowed me to micro adjust more to my liking than before with a big mouse,
work: before, using a big mouse sometimes felt fatiguing in switching to keeb to type and mouse to navigate and click, now its a bit easier but still a hassle(next move: split keyboard and a touch pad??)
also for its size, the battery can last for days, sometimes longer compared to my old mice i've used
overall it's a great purchase in gaming and unexpectedly in work.
Yoink
that is a very cute and comfy looking board!
New profile takes a lot of getting used to
It do be very comfy though compared to cherry
oh what profile is this
KOA
never heard of it before
It's the exclusive profile of KBDiy, which is a company that specializes in clones
Now I don't know how the original ones feel / look like irl. But these seem to be very high quality and feel really nice
i see
Looks and feels better than some official GMK sets I've seen before
first time i've heard of this profile. i thought all of the brand just do oem
cool that some brands have their own
looks like a more rounded XDA profile
It's an altered XDA profile yeah
My friend is still using some MSI membrane keyboard so I'm getting him something new
my loona playlist gonna have fun with this
That's not keeb
i dont know where else to put it
ah soldering one huh
hunting for set of en/kr keycaps again, dont have any on my current keyboard and would like to start practising again
where do you guys look for keycaps usually these days
ali
we have shopee, don't know if you guys have something like that, nowadays i look for clones
hahah ali it is then
Oooooh someone is gonna love this
Someone in my local keyboard community designed this board. I was selling it on another discord server and someone linked me here
I can’t send pics here sadge can someone attach them so they’re not hidden in the imgur link?
Hot damn
That's cute
wooooah awesome!!!
Anyone interested in buying? It's fully built, all you'd need is keycaps. Just a fyi, for this kind of custom board one-off, the cost from the factory with all the machining and brass internal weight was 1k USD. I'm selling it for 400 shipped 🙂
This is all spec'ed out on a mechanical keyboard nerd level lol. And if you want I can help you customize it further swapping out the switches, and sourcing keycaps to match the keyboard color!
If I was rich I'd consider it, but uh, yeah...
They keyboard hobby really ain't cheap...
What the Orbit logo should look like in the back color wise? https://i.redd.it/yh47wtwmbj961.png
I think it would be a fun project to fill in the back engraving with color
Looks a lot better ye
daymn
Finally swapped from 68 to 99 keys
been eyeing to swap for years now, my rkg68 not working in wired mode finally made me do it
crazy how low the prices of these chinese mkbs are nowadays though. gasket mounted, lots of foams inside with plates. kinda a great entry to actual modding
yea it's gotten cheaper
an aluminum gasket mount 65 key is like 80 usd now
weikav nut65
i've been thinking about replacing my 60% with a TKL but i'm years behind on what switches and pcbs are good nowadays
i like my zilent v2 switches but it doesnt look like zeal has innovated for years
of course it's just my luck that i open kbdfans for the first time in forever and there's a tofu tkl going on sale in 14 hours
blaming son, revived the forum
still using some old akko switches, my kb came with some variant of some linears and i tried but no tactile feedbacks really isnt for me
might even just use my older gateron ks3 browns again, although i don't think i bought enough for 99 keys
aye im still using the keyboards years ago, i just only changed my keycaps
but some of the keys in other boards are stuttering now
I still love my current keyboard so I won't be replacing / upgrading anytime soon
rip was in a meeting and forgor
only winkeyless left which i dont want
There's a new switch manufacturer in town
HMX
yeah i looked at those and were interesting
i ended up ordering some gateron type R's
PCB I dunno, don't really have real world use of custom PCB or even QMK/VIA for me so like I'd use whatever Chinese barebones kit they sell and mod the hell out of it
SInce I am neither a gamer or a coder
Basic ass Kailh hotswap PCBs is good enough for me
Altho there's a thing called flex-cut PCBs but I kinda doubt their durability
i also ordered a kbdfans gt-80 kit but it says preorder
so who knows when that'll ship
Like this is quite on the high side for me but I am starting out this kit is great
Already has the acoustics fitted in
Durock?
yeah those look like Durock stabs
keyboard shipped
switches are on backorder until the 28th so ill have to fit my zilent v2s temporarily
or the set of gateron browns i have sitting around somewhere
board arrived and i've already messed up in that these stabs are horrific
at least im using iems now so i cant really hear them but everyone around me definitely can
is Ducky dead?
typing on fiberglass nice
got some swagkeys knight v4 stabs lubed and now it's clean af
just waiting on my gateron type R switches to arrive and now looking for a new keycap set
yep just found out about it too
Polycarb top housing
Fiberglass (??) bottom housing
POM stem
50g ac/63g bo
Almost identical to my Gat Yellows
i currently have a mix of zilent v2 65g and gateron browns, since i dont have enough zilents to fill an 80% lol
kinda weird having mushy silents for everything important, then lighter snappier for things like function keys and arrows
oh damn Zilents for alphas only?
alphas and modifiers
basically the section of the board that correlates to a 60%
trying to get a hold of this set too, waiting on a reply from someone on mechmarket
Eye-ing for this sexy ass caps
Prob is I don't Japanese
Rather have no/Korean
There's this but too many colours
i'm really picky with fonts and really hate this default gmk font or whatever it is
even worse
keklmao
3 years into blank caps
can't say I missed having letters but look wise, having legends do look better sometimes
And it's not like I can physically go any faster than this
not 100% back up to speed yet, new stabilizer on space is catching me out
might swap the switch out with a gateron brown since its a bit heavy
no i mean the browns are lighter than the zilent
Oh ok
i think its like 65g vs 45g?
Yeah Gat Brown uses the same spring as Blue/Red
Gat Yellow is the outlier
in the "basic ass non-funky names" Gat series
type r's are 55 so its a middle ground
oh we the same weight class
those are 50g iirc?
50ac/63bo
was torn between ttc silent bluish whites and type Rs but decided to go with some non silents for a change

Heard of Mute Box Jades?
no
clicky
nono wait
Normal Box Jades are
but there's a mute variant
if I ever want to go tactile I'll get that or one of those MMDs
cause people said Silent Box Browns are ...bad
i'd imagine silents are an acquired taste
people probably dont like how mushy they are
yeh cause rubber pad
Still running my boba u4's
the stock kbdfans one is surprisingly decent so ill probably skip that
i still have gateron type R switches supposedly on the way but i have no idea when theyre supposed to ship so i might just try canceling the order
TIL irfan likes one piece
Nope this is my officemates'
damn
Almost all around mod this time
Case infill
Tempest
Plate foam
Permatex on the stabs
Krytox on the switch
Think the only thing I didn't do is film
Red af
The Lipboard is refreshed
Bruh my phone camera isn't doing the audio justice at all
I swear there's massive difference
My stabbed keys aren't ticking anymore
Well, sort of
Is this how the internet people test stabs?
ooh that Backspace is thocky af
