from what I heard from a good eye laser surgeon, Trans-PRK and PRK laser eye surgery with wavefront (whatever that meant) has a much longer recovery but is much more stable and 'trauma-proof' long term, as there's no cuts being made and no flaps being peeled back.
PRK also seems to be the only type of eye corrective surgery that military pilots are allowed to get and remain qualified.
