iirc Lapid is against the settlements
says he supports "maintaining the large Israeli settlement blocs"
Oh let me check
Good one but probably too hard to pronounce for him nowadays
i can not verify because i dont know hebrew
Quoting Haus of Decline (@hausofdecline)
"The mayor of New York has been arrested for corruption" sounds like the preamble that would appear before a 90s beat-em-up game, and I'm here for it. I'm ready to fight identical guys and gain health with street chicken. I'm going to change my name to "Blaze."
I think it's more in the terms of agreeing on land swaps but still allowing Jewish towns/cities to exist within the state of Palestine that would exist
Which like, ideally if you think about it would be really great to have
this is what it points to
banger
funny enough, he was in a 2017-made Turkish TV series
https://yeshatid.org.il/platforms/מדיני-בטחוני I think this should be their most updated plans if they were to get elected? The part after "introduction" here if you auto-translate it
by he i mean the mayor
That does make sense in hindsight
These usually change up a bit every election season though so it might not be the most updated in terms of their thoughts on the current war
Checks out
"As part of a future peace agreement, Lapid said Palestinians would have to recognize that the large West Bank settlement blocs of Ariel, Gush Etzion and Ma'aleh Adumim would remain within the State of Israel."
life imitates art, in this 2017 turkish romcom the now indicted mayor eric adams is asked for favors from turkish citizens such as illegally adding additional units to an apt or a license for a business, to which he responds by taking a selfie.

I think that's fair, right? Either that or they remain as Jewish majority blocks within the state of Palestine but that might be more difficult as part of a two state solution
insane

I don’t wanna go out today
I don’t wanna go out till the summer’s gone
Sympathize
Oh, why I-I-I-I…
Try t...
yeah idk about this
I think it's still a good step forward, it doesn't have to end there imo
Like imagine they take one step forward towards peace and it all goes well, and then they can take further steps in the peace discussions
Could become part of a multi-part plan if it really matters that much to both sides
in a progressive sense, it settles for less.
its probably the best option you got but i would not be jazzed about it
Like okay let me put it this way
I think any peace for plan will have to be gradual because you can't force peace on the two nations since they have majorrrrrrrrrr trust issues with one another
Heh
This is also why expanding the settlements even more is so detrimental
Its gonna be a major block in any peace talks in the future
Yep I agree
there shouldn't be any settlements in the west bank if you want a two state solution. the settlements erode the option of peace
also looks bad on maps
I think it can be a good talking point within the peace discussions, I think it has been for the past few attempts too.
if israeli can get rid of their settlements in gaza then they can get rid of the settlements in the west bank if they were going to be committed to a lasting peace between israelis and palestinians
Border gore
Yeah but iirc last time that happened there was also a lottttt of internal disagreement. Either way though before we talk about the actual plans, it'll still be a bit before either party is ready to actually discuss a peace agreement, unfortunately
Like I said earlier today though I hope it can happen sooner rather than later
The settlements in the West Bank are illegal
The whole occupation of west bank is illegal for that matter, but alas
Which is also the fault of colonialism
If we cant agree to be against colonialism because of human rights, can we at least oppose it based on map tidyness?
Wdym colonialism brought human rights to the world
Colonialism is also de-escalation through escalation when you think about it
True
Yea we should go back to random people drawing straight lines on a map
If a state isnt a rectangle, its gotta change
map tidyness is ought to be least of politicians' worries
It's like Loona albums, having them all in the same shape and size looks nice on the shelf map
i know a thing or two about colonialism
like when malaysia owned the land (in sg) beneath the train stations & railway tracks of the railway line connecting singapore and malaysia
Sorry I dont get your point
Sock puppet crocodile
there's no point, just another fun case of land in other country's land
resulting from colonial past
good stuff
what a lad I guess
keep out!
has he not retired yet
He'll be back
god i hope not
funny enough turkish people love boris johnson
because of nepotism (his great-grandfather was turkish)
oh yeah, TIL
also for those who don't know, his full name is Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson
bloody Pfeffel
well, not love as in worship him, but they show this weird symphathy for him
a portion of his popularity from here was just from when he was mayor of london and an absolute goofball
and at the time it was fine, because there's much less responsiblity being the mayor of london as the FUCKING PRIME MINISTER
also not my consitituency so didn't bother me what he did, but then he just continued being a goofball while attempting to run everything
see now that would have been a war
naval war
two major ex-colonialist imperialist naval powers finally going at it
the dutch with their bicycles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_infantry
Bicycle infantry are infantry soldiers who maneuver on (or, more often, between) battlefields using military bicycles. The term dates from the late 19th century, when the "safety bicycle" became popular in Europe, the United States, and Australia. Historically, bicycles lessened the need for horses, fuel and vehicle maintenance. Though their use...

What even is the point....What are their goals? Like you're gonna die eventually none of it going with you. They just want a high score?
Depends on which one of them you look at
some of them like Elon are pro-creation and just want to create their own clan for generations to come
so the money's gonna go there, and to achieve their lofty goals like space travel, electric cars, etc.
others ........ well we're all human after all, greed is incurable.
Isn't that also just the money we know of
I'm sure they all have some insane amount of wealth hidden in panama or whatever
taxing the rich isn't the only solution to this, the rich rarely pay that much taxes compare to their wealth or earnings, they have and known every trick in the books to pay as little as possible to the government, including planting their own politicians in place.
you have to look at what mechanisms allowed such insane concentration of wealth.
did you gloss over the part about planting their own politicians?
our societies haven't fundamentally changed, we're all still living in feudal oligarchies, we just don't notice it as often.
and it's not as blatant as say Russia's
no im saying taxing the rich is the solution, them having influence on politics makes that harder to implement
fair, still though, you could try and not allow them to get THAT rich in the first place.
but kamala ran on an unrealized gains tax for anything above 100 million and she got blasted for it
(kind of a stupid proposal but also the only version you can explain in one minute)
Billionaires using their media companies to shift the public perception on things like this is the standard
People are largely in favor of taxing the rich more and making sure they pay
sometimes I wonder how much they really must be making and how little it must cost to lobby for them to keep interfering with government
are they really?
cause i feel like whenever anybody comes out with a real proposal on how to do it, they get dragged through the mud
wealth tax, unrealized gains tax, even higher inheritance taxes
who does the dragging? the media?
including social media yea
it's kinda crazy when you actually do math about how rich these guys are
On the media those billionaires own, yes
But if you ask a random voter if the billionaires should pay higher taxes they'll all most likely say yes
like if you earned 7000$ every hour of every day since the birth of Christ you still wouldn't have as much money as Bezos
ok looks like warrens wealth tax had like a 70% support rate
Uhuh
well we can do the republicans vs democrats song and dance again i guess
Which social medias? The people who are against them don't make sense to me personally
Oh
Same thing for a lot of progressive policies in general, it largely depends on how you word it too
Like the obamacare vs affordable care act thing
I guess there are the people who just don't trust the government to use those funds better than billionaires for some reason
did i post that price gouging vs price control chart in here
also funny that people hate those things calling it socialism but when trump gave everyone money during covid nobody said a thing about socialism
I've heard people wanna vote for trump again because of how sweet that was for them despite him initially not wanting to do it.
yeah he'll do that again fr
like they're expecting it again or something lol
I can see him do that if he thinks he will get elected again
hey at least its an economic policy proposal
his other one is a 10 (sometimes 20, maybe even 30, who knows)% tariff on everything so he can only go up
unless there is a law about not being able to run three times I know people refused to run for the 3rd time before because of George Washington before unless I'm mistaken
nah you can run however many times you like
https://i.redd.it/jkv9zdzcmjrd1.jpeg
Does this seem helpful? Idk why seems like not enough still but better than nothings for sure.
and you have the money for
seems pretty helpful but the unfortunate reality is that the world kinda just has to wait for real wages to catch up to inflation again
I live in Toronto though. Costs for everything is crazy here so I might have bad perspective
People move 40 mins to an hour away from Toronto just to find a slightly cheaper home.
ya, global problem right now
it's still like 1.2 Mill for a nice family home
and the only answer is build more homes but theres various reasons thats not happening in each country
and 2M in Toronto and surrounding suburbs
over here it is funny because people used to work near the borders in Germany and Austria for better wages
and then going there for better quality products and then cheaper products as well
and nowadays even the housing is cheaper there
going where? you mean switzerland?
nah from czech republic some people travel for work to germany and austria
oh yea
pfps are free btw
this is my brand
I don't have anything really I would want as one
problem is that you have a bunch of nimbys blocking a lot of infrastructure projects
it will be the main point of my campaign when I run for an office
I could take the same pfp and tilt it like 5 degrees to the left
is that acceptable or is that gonna make people more mad?
it's a greener green
it's not even November yet
but it is speculaas season already
ok I made the icon tilted a little hopefully it helps
it looks like you're leaning in to listen
the listener
am i crazy or is it more teal now?
different shade of green
had no idea how to get the pfp so I just downloaded the first green discord pfp I found
Just wait? Why do you believe they will ever rise?
And which type of inflation is another question
inflation formulae are highly subjective and economists take hundreds of factors into account especially the ones that central banks declare. they aren't always reflective of the kind of inflation people, citizens, consumers, etc. experience.
wages will never catch up even to that underestimate inflation formula, let alone anything else like housing inflation.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/2024/03/23/summers-inflation-reached-18-in-2022-using-the-governments-previous-formula/
https://www.nber.org/papers/w32163
ok well i guess the historic trend of people getting richer is gonna reverse here and we are stuck here
people getting richer
Okay citation for this and perhaps a side by side or comparison with cost of living?
worst case we really are headed for a global crash in the housing market and it takes us 30 years to recover
heres your side by side
obviously shits been pretty fucked the last few years
I can only shake my head at such an example.
ok scooters arent that bad
at least the kid still has his father and grandfather
the father's hipster beard notwithstanding
housing prices will obviously have to come down one way or the other, be that by finally building a shit ton of housing or a market crash
The fundamental perspective on housing being a form of investment has to change for that to happen.
At least in certain markets, the issue is that housing, especially rental market, has been slowly taken over by large corporate landlords, and they're not going to let it all crash.
i mean good luck with that
And this is such a geographically specific kind of conversation, jurisdictionally different even a few dozens of miles to each direction at times, let alone between states, provinces or countries. We're all experiencing it but differently and due to different factors.
housing prices in germany have actually already gone down a bit because with the current interest rates and housing prices you really cant buy anything
yep
housing isn't a investment it's a basic human necessity and should be treated as such
building more houses helps but the fundamental issue is how housing is seen
They are
right, building more units that sell at the same price or higher (because newer build) as existing units doesn't help anybody
especially not those already struggling with rental costs or even basic 5-10% downpayments on existing units
no developer seems interested in building cheaper more dense social housing or rental units.
either the government has to get back in the business of building housing, or they have to incentivize developers (ie. subsidize) at a very high cost to the taxpayers to build such units.
You already know about the stalinka, now get ready for the kamalaka
It would be fire
reducing demand should also be part of the formula, just as increasing supply is important, but eventually they have to address the issue of housing being a form of long term, sometimes generational investment, and the NIMBY types who don't want denser housing units in their area.
probably literally
Tbf nimbys are just a consequence of housing as investments as well, just middle class
yes
part of that is driven by government policies too, from municipal and country level all the way to national level
they make it so difficult to rezone areas, to get permits for building new units, etc.
they're just as NIMBY as the people who vote them into office.
and of course higher levels of government are guilty of not investing enough into infastructure and expansion of usable areas with access to clean water, stable electricity supply, municipal sewer access, healthcare clinics or hospitals, schools, etc. etc.
it's not a matter of too little or too much regulation either, it's just a matter of slow AF administrative mechanisms
Join your local yimby movement today
careful there, you might veer into collarbone's ideological zone
we could all use a bit of communist socialism when it comes to housing I will admit
perhaps less brutalist postconstructivist designs though
Collarbone probably hates the average yimby cause they dont want to kill politely talk to landlords
I don't entirely hate that position, some of these landlords need to go
Brutalist designs are awesome
the corporate ones especially
Dont think it matters too much, who builds the houses, the state itself or private investors
With more supply the prices come down either way
like why does bill gates own 250,000 acres of farmland across this country...
private investors would hate their unit prices coming down
God forbid men have hobbies
Oh for sure
to look at from the outside perhaps
But with reduced cost to building houses, others will build them
absolutely depressing to live in
I dont usually hate people who disagree with me because its imaterial, i hate people that do bad things
yes, reduce the red tape, the administrative backlog and NIMBYism, and perhaps free market will help build more, cheaper units
Like landlords
individual landlords that own a few investment properties are far less damaging to the housing market than large corporations, investment firms, banks, etc owning entire city blocks
those types definitely deserve the hate as they are direct contributors to the housing crisis
short term rentals are devastating in larger, more touristy cities
in parts of the world that they banned that kind of thing, rental supply increased significantly and prices dropped
it definitely needs to be part of the approach
Oh are there already cities that banned it?
Thought a bunch of talking were still in the talking stage
Oh apparently Berlin banned it lol
Exceedingly rare german w
I think in North America, a few coastal cities at least added significant restrictions
I am very proud to say that ich bin ein berliner
do it to new york i wanna see something
like limiting it to principal residence only or secondary suits in the same residence
rather than being able to use a rental unit for it
Who wouldnt want to be a berliner
sg banned airbnb too 🦀
how does it take 5 years to investigate how a service was built without password hashing lmao

Trump: Joe Biden became mentally impaired. Kamala was born that way. She was born that way. And if you think about it, only a mentally disabled person could have allowed this to happen to our country.
what a time to be alive
at least the news is having fun with this one, high level entertainment
they would love for him to be elected again so their ratings would shoot up, no wonder they spend like 80% of their airtime covering him and every word he says, and even when they ask Harris any questions, it's about Trump.
it's funny though since he's a narcissist and this is likely pure projection
you know what they say, every accusation is a confession
That's often the case
kinda funny that like 12 years ago they had differences in like economic directions and now they are just calling each other R word
Trump: Oh, there's a fly. Oh, I wonder where the fly came from. See, two years ago, I wouldn't have had a fly up here. You’re changing rapidly. We can’t take it any longer
Only the biggest most brain
Trump: I could have been sunbathing on the beach. You have never seen a body so beautiful. Much better than Sleepy Joe.
Mental images
why this whole speech feels like ai-generated
Kamabla letting transgender alien flies invade the country folks
dudes misses his ex so much
I'd assume Kamala sunbathing is a much more pleasant sight than Trump or Biden sunbathing, and i am homotron 3000
has to do more with the two being like 80
we have the best beach bodies, dont we folks. many people are talking about it

Trump on theft: If you had one really violent day.. .. … One rough hour. And I mean real rough. The word will get out and it will end immediately.
are they trying to push that lie about shoplifting/retail crime again lol
the crowd literally waking up at 0:30 just to clap along omg

It was just a joke, bro. - Trump staffers sanewashing afterwards

THE ROUGH HOUR...
For anyone who thought only the US had clowns
That dastardly underground transgender mafia
Here @proud tulip, have a laugh after that game
Didn't lettuce last longer than her time as PM?
Yeah, that was a whole thing
Shes trying to save the british from developing rose tinted glasses for the tories, you gotta admire that
LMAO
Sam, your UK chapter seems to be doing well
lmaoooo
not the uk transgender mafia
most of the clowns here came from the UK and various other European origins after all
they invented clownry, US just perfected it
First it was the illegal transgender aliens in the US and now the underground mafia
thats crazy
they ran out of their homophobic boogeyman ammunition, so it's onto the new thing after all
a tale as old as propaganda itself, gotta demonize some small subset of the population to rile up everybody else and blame everything on them
can't have authorities and politicians actually provide solutions or answer questions to be held responsible and accountable.
https://fxtwitter.com/MattWallace888/status/1840107271520694464 any fellow hurricane summoners in the chat today?
Don’t worry guys, weather modification isn’t real! It’s just a coincidence that Hurricane Helene is one of the most devastating “inland damage storms” in history and that hundreds of pro-Trump counties are being massively impacted during the most important election of our lifetimes.
Obviously the elites would never be evil enough to create hurr...
lol, that song choice
there's another one coming, a rare october hurricane
there's a dude nearby that filled a aquadam that can hold 30 inches of water around his house. He spent like $9,000 on it and it has successfully kept the 27 inches of water out.
every single other house is basically donezo
this is just the deep state plot to keep construction workers employed
Smart guy
This was on page 347 of the biden infrastructure bill
this is what one looks like btw
"The federal government shall summon a big ass hurricane to hit any red state before the election"
I had to go and double check for parody and of course they're serious, lmao
he said he was "watching the water rise and grilling to kill time"
Im always amazed that people rebuild there
that's an impressive aquadam
Can't wait for the Hurricane that hits Montana
montana gets polar vortex instead
Montana is probably more space laser territory
and like atmospheric rivers and lakes
that's more california and oregon
Also I like the collective effort of right wing twitter accounts to pretend that a presidential caravan driving through is what those areas need most currently
Cant believe biden isnt personally diving around
it's literally impossible for some areas
because the roads have been swept away
"Joe Biden wont send relief because we voted republican last election"
To be fair its easy to assume biden would do exactly what trump did
I mean, he can go do what Trump did and throw some paper towels into the water
he can show up dressed like desantis
I don't think Biden would wear a Desantis vest
I thought that was a gun symbol on his vest for a second
the real pic the conservatives dont want you to see
but you have to admit, for a country where natural disasters like this are practically annual, you'd think municipal, state and federal governments would have a bit more preparation and faster response...
but sadly we never learn
What is there to prep really
you guys get floods
Please, whenever there's 1cm of snow in Texas their whole power grid goes offline and Ted flees the country
just this year in july in fact!
and cruz heads to cancun
Well yeah, that was the implication
exactly, these idiots never prepare despite how many times it happens
they just blame somebody else
Shouldve nuked the hurricane before it made landfall
next they'll blame illegal immigrants chewing on power lines or something
tbf I believe there was a motion to prepare for some cold winters and either the company or cruz turned it down

brady doesnt claim milwaukee
The current spin seems to be that biden is sleeping on the job and didnt personally stop the hurricane
it flooded in milwaukee?
Oh and thats also harris' fault of course
nah just some northeastern counties
Having privately owned dams is.... definitely a concept of a plan I guess
Hey its free money cause if it fails you cant pay the damage anyway
everything that can be privately owned, is privately owned in the US one way or another
private military, private prisons, private cities (hi disney), etc.

Texas for example has almost no public lands
real freedom is when you can own a dam
The real question is, are you actually responsible for maintaining a dam if you own it
And liable if it fails
Cause from what I've seen of vital infrastructure failure in the US there seems to be basically zero liability
i did not pull myself up by my bootstraps enough to build a dam
This is in TN idk about other states
a moral failure frankly
Apparently you have to have a "Dam Permit" to build one
Ah yes, a dam permit
not the one that failed but one in my city
girl scouts are allowed to own a high hazard dam
If you maintain it well you get a patch
Or pin or whatever they use for achievements these days
so if the dam breaks, then we can blame the girl scouts for not maintaining it
i think this is the dam in question
it was inespected by owner last year and is due to be inspected by the department of natural resources aka andrea next year
isnt that neat
I'll be damned
so the dam that failed actually didn't break the water just went around it lol
via erosion
well damn
Wasn't trump talking about how climate change isn't real and if it's real it's good right before the hurricane hit
Once in a lifetime hurricane that'll keep happening every so often
Maybe it's the transgender aliens with their advanced weather manipulation technology
Idk about right before but hes definitely said climate change would lead to more beachfront properties lol
Which isnt even how geometry works but you know
Yeah just don't think about what'll happen to the proprieties that were there before
[hbomber aquaman clip]
I see the "limited ground operation" has started
Apparently the lebanese army withdrew from their southern border so theyre just leaving hezbollah out to dry down there
they will really call it anything but war
a lotta shit got bigger names for what they are now lol
It's not war, it's non-peaceful interactions
Limited military ground operation into a different country
the rate of civilian casualties is really insane
Donald Trump says "one rough hour" of policing would end crime https://t.co/jSfK0UuKCk

hell yeah the hourly purge
Im not even being funny & I’ve said this before but I think AJ Griffin is in a cult. If you been following me you know I’ve said this more than once. He’s a Candace Owen, Harris Butker fan, he was distraught when 45 ear was bleeding & he called Beyoncé performances “satanic”

Turkish religion minister in a fatwa implifies Allah to be guilty for current stagflation, stating that "Allah is the one who brings poverty and prosperity, and ultimately orders upon prices of goods/services"
Incredible
does allah set reserve bank interest rates too
Current president tried to decrease interest rates for long term stating interest was haram
Only to now also increase the rates to thievery high rates while not seeing any of the economical benefits of an interest rate either
money is more important than allah afterall
that's like...one of the worst things you can say as a muslim lmao
especially as a religion minister lmao
You should see what else they say
Let's just say people have died for saying much less
yeah i will not be surprised if this doesnt end well over the next days lmao
Not really, it's just a common monday here
this is nice, preempting things from getting as bad as it has in kr

Iran is embodiment of empty words, they might be committing imperialistic farings on Syria, but other than that, i do not see them doing anything substantial in terms of currenr diplomatic standings
I just do not believe the constant White House scaremongering
I think it's all "nuke iran" prop
They would have done something when their prime minister got killed by israel, they haven't done much
They put their "revenge flag" on or whatever that is
makes sense
Wat
It's almost as if field trips on foreign soil with fireworks have consequences eventually
I mean I doubt a potential strike from iran is much of a surprise here
They just lost a big part of their favorite pet hezbollah
Normally not, but at this point they are really doing nothing much in non-symbolic stature against israel
White House constantly make reports of iranian missle attacks with no result
Is funding 3 terrorist organizations targetting israel not non symbolic enough for you?
Not really, that is not official war starting news
Turkey has done similar yet also are one of the biggest supporters of Israel at same time
It's "we do not like israel" for attaining the religious-conservative voter base yet supplying weapons and material, especially fruits/vegetables, to israel either directly or by cyprus/azerbaijan
Countries can happen to support organizations "trying to undermine a country" while supporting the same country for different reasons
Or maybe theres a disconnect between companies in a country doing trade with other nations and official foreign policy from that country
Not saying "Iran is a big Israel supporter", more so meaning that politics and diplomacy is quite multifaceted
Not really
Like fruits and vegetables?
It is an examplary, steel and weapons are also big exports to israel
It's like EU countries supplying Russian gas
In europe exports to some tiny -stan country shot up after the sanctions against russia cause companies find ways around them
That doesnt mean european governments are secretly supporting russia
They aren't in position to support a non-us backed russia of course
But in turkey's case, especially with government officials supporting or having big company activities in Israel, it means it
like a lot of reasons the US operated during the cold war lol
They also issued a security alert for US citizens in Israel
what about us citizens in the us
Sit tight and buy more popcorn
Us citizens can watch the vp debate tonight to witness a real life human sized weasel try to weasel their way out of reality
Fun for the whole family
watch the debate if you're not in an area afflicted by the hurricane i guess
snoozefest it's at 8pm my time
and they can read the trump play by play
The Biden administration sent that Hurricane to prevent red states from witnessing Vance doing the debate of a lifetime
I kind of want to see pete buttigieg in his jd vance impression
Maybe he can do the obligatory snl skit
I mean, he likely did that impression in a non-comical way
Which is an achievement by itself
I don't want to see Pete
So we were supposed to hate this guy or smth?
school is doing a watch party thing for this which im tempted to go for free pizza but i do not want to be on campus after hours
Stop supporting terrorism
Took surprisingly long for the nasrallah propaganda posting, youre slacking
Never
My bad I will try harder
Time travelling is real
||Fake account but funny bit||
Joe Biden the geopolitical dynamo you are
Can't believe escalating the conflict would lead to the conflict escalating
I will say this, i was rather wrong about iran not launching any missles, kinda odd timing though
Its fine I also fell for the trick with the russian invasion lol
Sometimes intel do be real
Is it really surprising that iran would do this after israel killed a bunch of higher ups in irans proxy force?
They also killed a bunch of Iranians not too long ago and one of the pagers mutilated their ambassador, so you know
Oh right, there was that ambassador with the pager
That said, several sides can be bad and completely morally wrong at the same time, let's not do the whole yay terrorism cringe, shall we
If only because that's very much against ToS
No it is very plausible and not as stupid as russia invading ukraine tbf
Glad this productive conversation was happening while I was in the bomb shelter
Never change Discord
sorry?
Yes due their inactivity prior
You'd not expect them to make such a move for something not in their country if they hadn't done that when israel managed to kill rather powerful officials well within their borders

the actual assaults being terrible on their own is one thing, the fact that so many people in music and entertainment industry must have been fully aware of this happening is yet another layer of horrible on top of it all
between diddy, weinstein and epstein ... and all the people connected to them all, it really makes you wonder just how widespread this is in hollywood and US entertainment and political circles.
I mean there are horrible likes of Dr Luke and Johnny Depp
It's less a "specific circles" and more money breeds depravity no matter where
Sexual crimes are notoriously hard to be proven or get punished legally, and often ends up with the legal system failing the victim
Either way, no need to get into the deeper pits of this topic, this channel is bad enough
Diddy is a horrible piece of shit and that's that
(and will hopefully spend the majority of the rest of his life behind bars)
In other news, jimmy carter turned 100 today
Hes actually gonna make it to the election
or whats left of him
He said his goal was lasting until he could vote via mail
I am the one of the rare ones that hates jimmy carter
He's in pallative care, so you know
A vote's a vote
Go hate someone who deserves it like Dick Cheney or something
Self admittedly caused neoconservative coup of 1981 Turkey
Iran situation is what it is today because of Carter
it's fitting that the potential start of another global war is on his 100th birthday
Current situation of Turkey is also partly caused by him
Do not like Americans pretending he is a wholesome charity guy
The hostage crisis?
he was the US president during Iran revolution and Turkey's coup
No the enshittification of thd country
and of course the hostage crisis
No president anywhere fits that description
Yeah
Best uni.t song
Pretending situations 40+ years later are solely his fault is also incredibly disingenuous
Americans appetite for another little military side quest in another nation probably wasnt all that high after vietnam
Not solely but partly
And he gets quite forgotten in this situation
Taking accountability is an important thing i believe
Committed the coup of 81 due a somewhat left leaning government of Ecevit in power
He is reported to celebrate the news of the coup
The word you're looking for is "supported"
When was the Coup? Cause the presidency changed in january of 81
it's funny, the hostage crisis literally ended the day reagan came to power
Jan 20th 1981
I wonder why
Anecdotes of cia head at time stating "our boys did it" that he now denies, it is odd
there's always been that 1980 october surprise theory
Either US candidate or president would have supported the coup tbf
Not especially Carter
Cypriot/Cyprus operations/invasions of mid 70s also made Ecevit a bit of target on that regard
Speaking of october surprises, that port worker strike seems kinda wild
yep, wouldn't be too crazy, it was the same administration that did the iran contra deal/affair too
To be fair, Turkey wasn't exactly stable to begin with and calling the socialists in power at the time a legitimate government is a stretch
people probably dont bring it up or forget because off all the shit that has come after it. Also probably cause Carter has done a lot of philanthropy/charity for building homes for people post-presidency.
I am saying somewhat left-leaning, not socialists
Apparently the company offered a 50% wage increase and the union said no lol
Changes nothing
It's just that all others were in the neoliberal or neoconservative scene going on in comparison
Not necessarily because Ecevit was a leader that needed to be glorified in any means
More because the others after him were shit
Turkish political scene is never a stable one
Not special to that specific era
well this era is an anomaly in its overall history after all, the ataturk to now era that is
this is all I got on the situation https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jun/10/ayatollah-khomeini-jimmy-carter-administration-iran-revolution

guess the US wanted Iran to be the way it is
the end times are coming

is/was before revolution, but seems like it depends on the truth of the report. Apparently supporters of Khomeini deny it, but who knows.
maybe we can just blame the French again, they were the ones who housed Khomeini for 15 years
sounds fair
Every american president is a war criminal
No exception
Trump is a criminal, not sure he started any wars though.
also a bit of self awareness would never hurt, whoever is running the @Israel account...
THIS ISN’T NORMAL.
Every single one of these rockets is meant to kill.
Israel only does precision attacks that result in the fewest casualties possible
They certainly are capable of doing that, as they did to that one Hamas political leader in Tehran
only like 2-3 people died in that
They have access to all the latest and greatest precision striking arsenal that the US has, pinpoint assassinations from the heavens is definitely something that they can and have done before.
To borrow from schmali. It’s a war what do you expect
Excuse you, it's just a warlike operation
From what I've seen though the Iranian attacks were largely directed at military/actually legitimate targets (to be taken with the usual grain of salt towards definitely biased witness accounts)
Helps when your opponent doesnt put their military bases in the cities
The Mossad HQ they targeted is actually in Tel Aviv
Everything is a legitimate target if you just believe hard enough there's a secret base under everything from kindergardens to hospitals
Ya I mean
They targetted a civilian area in beirut and magically the main hezbollah guy died
And buy into israeli propaganda
That's a fancy way of saying "They targeted a whole city block and hoped there would be a bunker below one of the buildings"
Good thing no one else died in Lebanon
That’s been Israel’s whole MO
Why would you think they simply hoped when like 3 days earlier they exploded a bunch of military equipment that they sold to hezbollah, they clearly have some intelligence people working there
Pagers are not strictly military equipment
Okay pagers used as military equipment
Alright man

Tons of people use pagers and were killed or injured
Plenty of practices to criticize the idf for. Using palestinian civilians to scout out possibly trapped tunnels? Yikes, very bad, very illegal
If they knew they would've done one of those precision strikes people say they're apparently capable of instead of leveling 1/4 of the city
The pagers is also a thing to criticize Israel for
The pager thing is just terrorism
But at least acknowledge that hamas and hezbollah themselves do their best to maximize civilian casualties on their side
And I won't call it anything else.
lol
They knew, Mossad is pretty competent in finding stuff like that
The thing is just that they deliberately choose to cause the most harm
that's been what they do
Nah I think they could do a whole lot more if they really wanted to
Part of their government would definitely like them to
I mean, short us just throwing a nuke at Gaza or Beirut...
not that there is anything left to nuke in Gaza
Hey now, Israel never publicly said they have nukes
They all just wink whenever they deny having one, very strange
They never said they did!
I love Israel
To me the whole human shield justification is weird
Even if there were hamas bases and tunnels under all those hospitals and schools (which afaik they have never provided any evidence of existing), the whole point is that you don't blow it up and kill all the civilians
Didn’t you see the 3D render?
Oh yeah my bad
It's standard procedure that in any hostage situation you shoot the hostage first to get rid of the nuisance
Everyone knows that
Here comes the tankie
In international law killing civilians isnt illegal by default (and no country would ever agree to that principle). Countries are supposed to weigh their military objectives (and potential alternative methods of achieving) against potential damage to civilian infrastructure or civilian casualties. Killing the leader of hezbollah inside of a bunker he seemingly never leaves and is likely to be extremely tightly guarded, so there likely isnt another way of getting at him, probably ranks pretty highly on the list of military objectives. Now youre still supposed to try and avoid civilian casualties by warning them, but warning the civilians will also warn your target. Im sure israel has missed on that assessment of proportionality plenty of times, but the talk around this conflict never even reaches that stage usually.
Back in the day when gangs would rob trains in the wild west the crew would lock every wagon, derail the train and set fire to the whole thing in order to ensure no criminal would escape
Oh just an oopsie
Guys they misread the situation
Damn
Poor beans
The idf is literally neurodivergent and a minor
In international law killing civilians isnt illegal by default
oop
Yeah they killed a couple important Hezbollah figures (I think they named 2 or 3?) while also killing over 1k people and injuring over 6k
Somehow they miss the proportionality assessment every time
To borrow a quote “one is a tragedy. A million is a statistic”
If you did make every civilian death illegal, warfare would become either impossible or international law meaningless as no country would adhere to it
And international law/law of armed conflict is a very limited set of rules that not even every country has agreed to
Don’t worry guys. Israel hasn’t committed war crimes
Just errors in proportionality
Bombing schools and hospitals very much is a war crime though by international law.
That's not even debatable, just a fact
Well not if theyre used as military infrastructure
Where did law get into the conversation anyway
I'm against it morally, I don't care if technically under the 37th precept of the international book of john lawman it's legal to kill civilians 🤓
john lawman is a professional
Ya look you can think this whole International law thing is very stupid and I wouldnt even disagree but then hamas shooting missiles at israel weekly without the capability to even really target something is just as bad
That would only be a fitting description for a military hospital, not for people hiding within or below it.
Using human shields is also a war crime for that matter, but one war crime doesn't cancel out the other
Oh it's really bad
Thankfully Israel has the iron dome that stops like 99% of those handmade shitty ass missiles
Yep, and I know its hard for people like henry to follow entire conversations, but I did explicitly mention a war crime by the idf up there
what's people like Henry mean
Oh you know
shinee fans
People named Henry
yeah whats that mean
Do you condemn Hamas?
Genocide dislikers
The absolute worst type of scum
Reporter: Do you believe you should’ve been tougher on Iran after they had launched ballistic missiles in 2020 on US forces leaving more than 100 soldiers injured?
Trump: What does injured mean? You mean because they had a headache.. no one was tougher on Iraq..
Headache indeed

How dare they """"fact check""""
At least Vance can formulate full sentences unlike his running mate
That's how low the bar is
walz just sold
This debate just goes to show that you can actually have a civil debate still and it's really just Trump who is the issue there
why republicans love guns and dont want to do anything about them
The opening question being about a potential nuclear first strike by israel on iran is peak american politics btw
Manufacturing, abortion, the second amendment? Snoozefest, how do you feel about killing millions?
-118 years old is a big one. Wow, what a champ amirite?
think of it like cigarettes to smoking. What's the next alternative to replace it and why is it so protected by a giant, immovable lobby that has been rich off of it since forever?
kinda missing the whole 2nd amendment thing that gets tossed around in gun control discussions
tobacco companies just pivot to vaping, there isnt an alternative when it comes to gun control
Wheres the paintball lobby
down the road from the cs:go lobby (internet cafe)
I really like the second ammendment as one of my dreams in life is to make a musket and I believe doing so would be illegal in brazil
So yeah
I'm not going to say what your saying is wrong because it certainly is true. But that tree has one hell of a lot of consequence behind it if you ever so much as bring an axe near it.
I would also like to have a mosin nagant
If I'm not mistaken, that is legal. At all ages as long as it's private use. It's not cased ammunition.
Black powder guns are classified as antiques, they don't meet the manufacturing requirements, nor justice unless of course you do harm with them. Anyone can buy antiques might I add.
Well yeah its also not like the police would come to my house if i made it and just ledt it there
If it was actually ilegal
But thanks god I will check it with my lawyer friends you opened a door for me
oh, so you intend on doing a crime like a crimenal? Hmmm police, I think we got one.
oh I meant that for america lol
you said you'd like to live that out as a dream of yours.
The law is ambiguous on whether carrying swords is legal or not but I do anyway because im white
Like, what is the police gonna do
Stop a white dude?
LMAO
"Hold it, Link from the land of Hyrule. Where the fuck are you going with that broadsword?"
Yeah for real ever since I played age of empires 3 as a kid I was fascinated by flintlocks. I quite enjoy napoleonic warfare too
And eventually I noticed that a lot of medieval fantasy is often early modern fantasy and it only gets better with the addition of guns and cannons
Truly the 1600s were peak humanity
Except the uh
Slavery and genocide
But otherwise

Great times
fantastical
But can somewhat ethnically ambiguous individuals carry swords? (asking for a friend)
Idk depends on your excuse i guess
I sell them and customize them so I tell the truth if asked
I'll buy one that says "mf stole my government cheese"
Are you from Wisconsin or something
I hear they take cheese very seriously
You don't know about the Native American cheese. Very serious here
Spirit voyage cheese?
We have to sign paperwork agreeing not to sell it
So is that signing away your right to not bear cheese?
It's food we get from the government (provided low enough income.) The blocks of cheese are very popular on the reservations which leads to people selling / stealing it.
Hadn't thought the cheesoconomy went that deep, I guess it makes sense in a way. What do you do with cheese thieves?
put a cup of water on their heads and make them wallsit in a corner with their arms forward like a zombie
That edit is rather different
I sometimes type how a word sounds in an accent I am doing in my head instead of phonetically correct
Do you have an accent?
No I drive a Nissan, not a Hyundai

I find that question rhetorical, friend

Main opposition party in Turkey (if we can call it that efficiently, not a lot of parties showcasing de-facto opposition to government positions), promises a party-related generative ai chat bot by their youth organizations, promising that you could "get answers to each political question"

Siz soracaksınız, CHP Chat Bot cevaplayacak.

I was wrong, i apologise to the communist newjeans bunny acc in this server, using generative ai/chatbots to ask genuine political stuff seems rather more common than i thought, albeit still unreasonable
I mean collarbone was clearly just posting that as a meme, he's a history major
don't think he takes advice from chat gpt on how to interpret political events
Altho I'm sure there's people who do that
I am just surprised that there is a genuine attempt in this context to make this app

yeah
but it just shows how clean our system is, that this is the first time ever someone's been convicted under this law
at least that's the spin on this news
but in fairness to china, xi jinping's anti-corruption campaign in his early days was quite well-publicised

Reddit is stinky for anything opinion based and fine whenever you need a solution for "How tf do I [enter problem here]"
Wrong
Ok, Donald
reddit good for tech issues
havent been on reddit since the api thing last year and i must say my life is much better
i append reddit to pretty much every google search i do
way better experience
google sucks
do people still say "surfing" the web?
i dont use reddit except to diagnose tech stuff
They would not say water poloing the net
I only look at the talesfromDF subreddit
I only look at the pizza subreddit
stress testing subscription paying consumers to see how much of the ad bullshit they are willing to tolerate is really something
Companies trying to get away with worse and worse business practices and customers eating that shit up as per usual.
They're gonna do the 2 steps forward 1 step back tactic too if the backlash is too severe
Which will still be more ads, but not quite as much so it's fine, right?
it's just funny that less than 20 years after the first few large streaming services began with the promise of low monthly subscriptions, wide access to content on demand and no ads ...
To be brutally honest, we would be better off with a Netflix monopoly
we've devolved back to the same fractured localized content geolocks and platform/service variety that cable was known for
and now we're getting ads and paying for it too
Like, sometimes the market being consolidated is a good thing
and what we're actually worse off for now is that physical releases are basically on their way out more or less
Nah
Netflix would eventually do the same though
so you can't even buy content and watch it offline unless you pirate
Netflix was running at a loss back then too
Companies cant afford to not grow
They wouldve ramped up pricing anyway
Its not even about not growing
They lost money every year
That's the strat of all these companies yep
Start off operating at a loss selling a product that's too good to be true (because it is) and then panic years later on how to make money out of it
Video streaming is expensive as fuck
Point is, obviously Netflix would've raised prices, but that would still be less than the 10 different services we pay for now at the same time while getting a shit product
I think they'd just end up being exactly like spotify actually
Like even youtube still lost money last year iirc
Make everything worse anyway
you gotta draw the line somewhere, you can't go subscribing to a new service every time some studio wants their own platform for their own content
it's getting worse than cable
We should have a state owned monopoly on streaming services that would only stream tarkovsky and shows that promote positive depictions of the proletariat
Come on man, make your bait less obvious, lmao
the idea of a regulated streaming service that at least consolidates all these fractured platforms under one subscription service doesn't sound so bad
some platforms try that, like Prime has those subscriptions within subscription system
Yes it does
same for Apple TV
but it adds up and gets way more expensive than full access cable ever was
And it's made on a very tricky way where you can subscribe to them accidentally very easily
like if you want to just watch something from paramount+, that's what, 11-17 dollars for a month of subscribing to that
Basically the issue is that yes, monopoly is bad, but too much fracturing of the market is also bad
they count on that
And in the current state it's actually worse
most subscriptions services count on at least getting an extra month out of you for forgetting
like I accidentally ended up renewing Apple Arcade this month
we're back in the mid 00s being extorted for channels we dont need or care about 😔
because I got baited into the trial
like it hasn't even been 20 years since netflix streaming launched
and we're back to square one, possibly a worse square in fact
that happened with me and dropbox
Curiosity stream
me with duolingo
I dont eve remember
I still have a Google additional cloud storage sub that I forget to cancel every month
Other than that I think I'm relatively clean on unused subs atm
I found out that my mother was paying for email in 2022
Like, the brazilian version of aol mail
what... lol
Don probably knows IG
I found out my father was paying a monthly donation to adblock+ he had no idea about
it was like 300+ dollars of it by the time I caught it
Yeah, she did for almost a decade
Theres people still paying money for a bank account
That's insane
bank account fees are unfortunately very prevalent
I had to force her to switch to gmail and she got angry at me
lmao
it's very difficult to switch emails when it has been tied to everything
especially once the pineal gland has calcified and you've settled into your routines, change is very difficult
It's actually not that easy finding free bank accounts in Germany with a bank that at least provides the most basic on site service
ya i just use a custom domain so its easy to switch
went from gsuite to proton a while ago
I had a ...... subscription cleanse during covid 2020-2022
Yeah but she didnt remember her password to the email and it couldnt be recovered because all of their servers are dead except for the part that processes payment
canceled nearly everything
And somehow she wanted me to fix it
just so I could track what I was getting charged and restart them later if I had real need for them
Commerzbank does it as long as you have like 500€ coming In monthly, its really not that hard
I meant to reply to the message above that one of course
so she wasn't even getting access to her emails? what lol
Yeah because she changed phones
I'm glad you were able to help her though
but I imagine it was trouble switching over all her accounts that were linked to that email
since most of them would require access to said email to switch lol
we really tie too many things to personal emails and phone numbers ...
I have one email for stupid random bullshit and a real.email
Fittingly, the one used for random bullshit is hotmail
I have chainlinked three different emails together in case one gets lost, the recovery would depend on the other and there's forwarding between them lol
on different services/platforms too
but if any of them get compromised, I'm probably fucked
been thinking about getting a yubikey
I don't know
lol fuck
hahaha
What even is that
hardware 2fa
it's like a physical secondary authentication/2FA
I see
2fa usually goes through your phone number which makes your number/sim the central point of failure
the way RSA generators for bank accounts worked like two decades ago for anybody that may have experienced that.
SecurID or something
I had to switch mine last time I got a new contract and dear god it's so much of a hassle
Changing every single 2fa is a nightmare
it's such a pain to change personal phone numbers or emails because of just how much everything is tied to it
and 2FA without those special long keys is also difficult to just switch
i almost lost all mine a while ago when i reset my phone, as i forgot the password to the backup that authy saves
so i had to restore my phone backup, disable the password, re-enable multiple devices
yeah i wanted to swap to something else but its seemingly a nightmare now so i just havent bothered
I still don't have access to my Twitch account for that matter cause Twitch is the absolute worst with recovery, lmao
octo or something i think is what people recommend?
But I don't really care about Twitch, so whatever
authy was good for so long .... why did they have to get worse 😦
also a lot of banks just outright refuse to allow anything but phone number/SMS as 2FA
ah ente is the one
looked nice and all oss
dont really wanna couple my 2fa with my pw manager either
I like to keep my password manager offline, as inconvenient as it becomes sometimes
so I just use keepass and its derivatives
I know the online ones are pretty reliable and have all kinds of fancy encryption but I just .... I just can't
I feel like tying your 2fa to your pw manager kinda defeats its purpose
yeah pretty much
I tried to switch my 2fa to another competitor and their app/extension just didn't work so that wasn't cool
I didn't try ente
i have 41 accounts in my authy rn
manually switching everything over would take forever
so cbf

that's pretty terrifying and impressive at the same time for every party involved
Microsoft stop making useless features challenge: impossible
