||oh i just interpreted that cause everyone likes to call these agents goddesses when they themselves are really just humans that were blessed with powers from the actual season gods, so i assume the gods can also just take their powers when they want. And the escaping part it was cause of that phone call sakura had with some reps who wanted the ritual to be marketed and televised but hinagiku is bad with crowds, so they snuck away to do it in secret. It's also why when they arrived at the front desk the people were surprised cause they weren't notified beforehand||

well there's a wide variety of anime they're definitely not alike
like if u watched anime in the early 2010s or late 2000s a lot of the characters felt kinda flat, like the way they acted was based off an anime trope (like a tsundere just getting mad and being flustered all the time)
humor used to also just feel very formulaic
makeine was honestly a good example of a show that defied that for me, even though like each of these characters definitely have their tropes, "popular kid, tomboy, loner" when they interacted with the mc u definitely felt that their personality was natural and not based on a character gimmick, there was more to them
as much as this is fiction it also does need some realism for me to connect and feel invested
so when a character feels like they're kinda defined by their trope/archetype then I have a harder time connecting with them

I think if we had gotten some insight into her internal monologue instead of having her be embarrassed and repeat the same jokes through the ep it would've come across better
like I just watched the 2nd prettiest girl show and like they don't really need to do all that just cause the girl talks so much. Having them actually bond over their hobbies by an accidental meeting earlier on in the ep instead of the a cat and mouse game for the whole ep was also a lot more digestable.
it's like i think they just need to do a better job introducing the character, if it's a more awkward and maybe insecure person like show us what they're thinking, and if it's the opposite case then them yapping is what captivates the audience
(also the mc in 2nd prettiest girl is definitely much more my vibe when it comes to how loners are depicted without feeling like the sterotypical otaku loner trope)

Like chained soldier, i'd say the characters are pretty tropey but there's obviously the action and fanservice aspect that are the forefront of it. But with these slice of life shows the personality of the characters as well as their chemistry with each other really is the selling point, so if it's done in a distasteful way it hurts it a lot more than for an action show.
