#Max & Min amount for selling items in market

That could be hard to tell, since the range can vary significantly even over a single day.
I wish I could post for $1 less easily. I normally accept that my items may be temporarily undercut, but they normally sell once the undercut sells out.
What is more annoying is when someone massively downgrades the price and that becomes the new price.
I hate that too! Why are so many people willing to do things like reduce an item from 100,000,000 to 5,000,000 gold or from 300 gems to 5 gems?
This is one reason I would like a button on the listing view to go 1 gold below the current minimum. That may seem like it would encourage undercutting, but things usually sell through and it means the overall price will drop far less!
I wouldn’t like to see anything like this implemented. It will definitely make it worse. Right now, the easy fix is dont cancel your items and chase the dollar. It still sells, just not first cab off the rank. It’s newer market players that tend to chase this. These suggestions would have everyone doing it.
Another option is to post for the same amount, not a dollar less. What’s the significance in having to be first cab off the rank? Even with significant drops, I leave mine and they will all usually sell once the cheaper items do. Except for when they are hideously overpriced. Remember that a market is driven the same way it is in RL… demand and availability. As these both fluctuate, so does the market. Things are only worth what the market will bear.. in other words what someone will pay for them. This is why some are undercut by massive amounts, people who are very experienced in playing the market know which items sell for what on average and some items will never sell for the higher prices. They want to sell theirs, so they set it for a price the market has shown is reasonable. Trying to avoid all that is just heading back to shop prices. Sometimes the market is less than shop price. Events impact it greatly.
Ever played Runescape? Their Grand Exchange system counters this by having a market value, but never showing lowest offer/request. It's a great way to counter it in my opinion by "Hiding" minimum buy price and makes for a much more stable market.
You can however "Counter" it by buying 1 item, but initially and for the "Average" seller/buyer it really helps 🙂
Keep in mind that the relist option holds your place in line. So as people buy items you will get priority on that pricing.
Unless you are undercut of course
No, Even if you are undercut, your position for the amount listed stays the same. So unless you are grievously overpricing your items, the market will go back up
Yes, but your position doesn't matter if you are undercut
Are you the type who is willing to remove your listing and undercut those who undercut you?
Sometimes things will sell even when immediately undercut. Some will not, especially if the price doesn't drop more in the 8 hour window I normally use.
I have sold items at a higher price at times when I had to relist and expired one.
I've opened a suggestion some days ago that if implemented could solve this problem. it is pretty damn easy : an entry fee for placing market orders.
I honestly use the market very little for this very annoying "feature"
I like the idea. Charge the transaction fee before the transactions (extension doesn't need to). Then people will think twice before they place an offer/request
that can be the storage fee in the town, many of the times I'm just using market slots for free storage....
Why? I use it to try and buy the stuff to sell to the Champions who wander in many times. Much more efficient than making them myself many times. I can make enough gold to pay even the max price. Someone else benefits at the same time. Why should I be penalized more?
Well, if there is an upfront cost when placing an order, the transaction can be reduced right? Maybe in a total of 10% of the listed price. That means no one is penalized if you know you are listing an reasonable price and the item can finally be sold.\
I just want the stuff. That is why I offer the max amount. Reducing that would make it less likely someone fills the request.
I don't get you. What do you mean by reducing the max amount? No changes should be made to market buyers or fulfillers. All the upfront costs should be paid by those making the listings. E.G. Let's say we have a 5% upfront cost and 5% transactional cost, if you are requesting an item with base value of 1M, and you max it out by offering 10M per item, 0.5M will be charged when you make the list, and the other 0.5M will be charged when the request is fulfilled. In total you still paid 11M which is same as before. And fulfiller gets 10M same as before.
This way requests players to have insights of the market. They need to know the item values on the market. So they can have a reasonable listing to avoid additional charges. It avoids vicious competitions. for example I make a 5M request, and 2 mins I saw people making a 5,000,001, and I cancel my request to make another request with $1 higher. That's really frustrating. With this upfront cost, even I got undercut, I won't cancel my request, cuz I know I give a reasonable price, and it fill be fulfilled eventually. and if I want it very bad, I'll just pay the 5% upfront cost, and make another request, they will think twice before they decide if they want to undercut.
You made my point for me. Why should I pay that 5% extra when making the request listing?
If you meant to sell you also would be costing me a LOT if I had to pay that just when listing. It would be a HUGE CHANGE there.
