Wouldn't it be cool if you, the shopkeeper, could also go on missions and go on an adventure of your own?
Perhaps they could have access to all skills, all gear, equip companions (or maybe even their favorite pet?, which could give a start power/stat bonus based on the pet, skin, and level). Maybe they have a skill that buffs all heroes of either Green or Blue or Red types?
Maybe they have a longer cool down but guarantee/have a higher chance gems or keys to drop from quests. Imagine all the builds players could explore with this feature!

Interesting idea, but I'll raise you... what if you had to complete a set of 'training tasks' from Argon before being able to go on quests? Maybe some of those tasks or experience points (however it works out) will enable you to bring a pet, or equip certain weapons or armour, etc?

Like a 'progression or unlock' system to improve your Shopkeepers? They would give/unlock more power, the use of skills, etc for use on quests/bosses/events? Yeah that sounds pretty cool.

What if you could only use certain items based on your ascensions? Want your shopkeeper to be able to equip spears? Need to reach at least level 9 in spears to unlock tier 1 for that, and higher level spears need higher level ascension milestones. Want to equip an item after being eligible? Sure, but you also have to have mastered the blueprint for that item first & not just bought it from the market or a shop visitor. Could also be an opportunity to use all of those achievements and titles earned to help with the unlocking process. And since all of these are optional and ultimately unnecessary activities, it doesn't take away from the core game for those that just want to play the game as it is.

That would be a really nice way to tie in all aspects of the game into something and reward over all progression too! I like that.

I was also thinking in terms of barriers, maybe the shopkeeper works like a Spellknight where they don’t have a specific element but deals a percentage to any barrier.

Right but when you die in battle you can't play the game for the remainder of the rest time then I hope

Hmm, since nobody ever dies in battle, just loses energy and collapses, then perhaps that's the effect your shopkeeper brings over to the shop if they collapse? Maybe your shop energy gains are halved or at least sluggish during your recovery periods, and if you collapsed, perhaps you can't rush items with it as a penalty until you have recovered?

I'm not sure anyone would want their shop to close, and there is already a separation between the shop and the city/quests. Champions still visit and queue in your shop while they are questing for example.

Their wouldnt be a way to explain why ur in ur shop while also questing tho.

Do you need to? How do you currently explain champions standing in your shop while they're questing?

Half the time when Rudo leaves he tells you to send him on a quest soon, and I'm thinking "sure, big guy, but maybe you should finish the one you're already on first."

Plot twist, while your shopkeeper is out on a quest you cannot sell in-shop, because well you are not there.
