#Add a channel with multilanguage.

The reason there isn't one is because they don't have the staff to moderate it
Well, they hire people for language moderators or I think they can't do it if they really care about their players.
The discord is actually not really an official place. Even the kabam employees are here on their own discord accounts. Most of them moderate it on their own time, except for probably Tristan.
Nah, I still do it on my free time. It's a part of the job description for me, Richard, and Dae though.
To address the suggestion though - I think you might either be overestimating how big Kabam Montreal is, or underestimating how expensive live moderators are. It's the same thing as why we don't have in-game moderators - it's just not in the cards, budget-wise. We're only able to offer what we do here because we have people who can pull double duty to moderate, and that means being limited to their fluent language spoken.
I got close enough
And they cannot use players who want to moderate without the need for a salary, only if they want to do it on their own or that is not allowed in other games either and since most of the moderators are like that.
Correct, yeah
Well, problem with player moderators is you need someone to moderate them
That's even assuming you can find players you trust to moderate in that language
We can't use volunteers because accountability and reliability are necessary, and you can't get that with a volunteer force
Volunteers work great for things like fan servers or community servers based on shared interests. But when it comes to anything company-official, the accountability requirements go way up
Well then, there will be a selection to find moderators who speak English so they could moderate in their language and communicate with the main moderator.
I mean, that basically sounds like what we already do in #🔗|projects-and-resources
We fully support fan-driven ST servers in whatever language, and have them prominently pinned in that channel as well as directing people who come here looking for support in that language to the appropriate server
That's about as "hands-on" as we're really able to be with it, but I'd say that's a pretty solid amount of support given that none of it is required
Well, it's fine if you can't, you can't, it was just a suggestion, I'll stop writing on the discord, I'll just limit myself to reading. Thanks anyway and sorry for the inconvenience caused.
No no, no inconvenience at all! And you're welcome to keep speaking here, if you want to
I just figured you'd want an explanation as to why things are the way they are
Dutch channel when?
sure you can, you just need to find trustworthy people and hold them to a higher standard.
No, we can't. It's not just about holding to a standard - it's about incentive to retain that standard. When you have someone contractually obligated to fulfill a duty, it's different from "someone you just trust a lot".
And since most governments (as well as, y'know, ethics) generally frown upon contractually required labor without any compensation, that brings us back to budget.
I mean either they maintain that standard, or they lose that position :)
Anyway i feel like i have derailed this thread enough
Nah, I don't think this is derailing - it's addressing exactly why this suggestion can't happen.
And right there, it's a perfect highlight of the problem. "They lose that (unpaid, unnecessary, volunteer) position" is not really much by way of stakes. Especially when you consider the legal ramifications a company or studio could face depending on what sort of things are permitted to go on without our knowledge or oversight on an official company/game platform.
If a company pays someone to do a job, and they don't do that job, while the company is responsible there's a degree placed on the employee. When a company asks Some Guy to do it and relies on them because they said it's cool to, and they don't do that job, that's squarely on the company.
Im curious what you think the worst thing that someone could do if they went rogue and didnt follow your guidelines/standards
Mass banning
Power abuse
You know, the usual
Mass banning it VERY easy to catch, trust me on that...
I was part of a server team and they hired a batch of 8 new mods, within 12 hours one mod went rogue and banned like 6 people. they got blacklisted from the community, the wrongly punished people were pardoned and everyone moved on.
People do some wild stuff in places you'd never expect
I heard about people using League lobbies to facilitate drug deals a few years back, just as an example. Which is pretty different from the situation here, but demonstrates the point that "what you expect" is not really an accurate view.
The point is, it creates a totally unnecessary liability, which does not fly
I could see not wanting to have other servers with shop titans name or logo, because they might be grabbing ip's with bots or scamming them but adding something in this server where you guys are activly watching things like that are less likely to happen IMO
