This is why it's designed so you can get Ascension Shards from many facets of gameplay. Fortune zone, chests, events, fusion, grab bags, guild gifts, etc. etc. If players were just given ascension shards up front for little to no effort, then one might make the argument to do away with ascensions entirely.

As dae said, smth like that will make endgame players lose interest bc only them know how much effort put for ascension shards

i mean, it's less that i'm worried about endgame players and more about how ascensions are supposed to be treated.

ideally you're supposed to pick and choose which crafts you want ascended, typically the most expensive of your highest tier unlocked -- these are your money makers, after all. then the meta became unlocking all to 15 stars for the multicraft chance, which is doable with a bit of time dedication and ensuring you're active in killing bosses (chest keys) and participating in events.

ascending, or easily getting the shards needed to ascend every recipe isn't the design; it's just merely meant to augment or flavor your gameplay to make you more profitable in your chosen ascensions. a sense of personalization, if you will.

i speak as a fellow player, to be sure. ascensions were added to the game long before I became Kabam staff, lol

nothing to worry about endgame players, but for beginner players these ascension shards are really a problem

It isn't a problem for beginner players because it's a system designed to play until the endgame.

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I find the rate of shards appropriate. My focus up until level 60 was just getting to 24 in as many lines as possible for gems so that I could earn the 9K needed for the "full" expansion.

After that - it feels like a good true end game grind. And it's nice that research scrolls can turn into shards if you'd like
