Only just recently discovered them believe it or not, they seem to always be really rooted towards a jazz fusion sound. I don't think they really differ too much from any 90s/2000s fusion band, apart from being more pop-oriented, so I suggest just listening to some recent fusion groups to get the hang of the genre as a whole.

it was a trick from Nile Rodgers from Chic! You play with a really really tight, quantized drum machine beat and you can let the music flow around the beat. It is a fallacy that groove = "human drums". That's not how you write that kind of stuff, a lot of people think you need to work with a real good drummer with jazz training but it really isn't about that at all.

Work quantized drum machine beats and create a funky groove around it instrument by instrument
