#how many loops can you use before it's considered relying on them too much?

genuine question from a beginner. i have up to this point been using single hit samples to create all my music and just discovered how to use loops. i wouldn't imagine you could use like a whole track's worth of them, right? what is a good balance between the two?

I think its less about how many loops you use and more about how you use them. if you make a whole track out of loops, but process them creatively, make a cool arrangement, chop them up in places, or otherwise add creatively to them, you're all good

as many as you think it's too much

there are so many great tracks that have loops on repeat, and no one really bothers as long as the whole track stays exciting

my personal rule of thumb is to keep doing what feels fun and grooves, try to not think about "cheating" or "not really producing" just because you use samples
