I've ultimately settled on Ableton, for years now. It's an extremely well rounded and powerful DAW.

I consider Reaper lighter, nice organization (not better, but different one) and nice built-in plug-ins, but prefer FL too because FL = Newtone, Pitcher, Newtime, Maximus, Pitch Shifter (autotune) and more, also ther way to route things, but... should be the DAW you feel comfort to use, develop better, faster, my opinion. Sure, these plug-ins like Newtone, Pitcher and Pitch Shifter = FL Signature Bundle too = $299.

Reaper for $60 for small incomes or $225 for biggest ones, cool too, but the problem is that it's limited, as I know, up to certain version, FL is like free-lifetime upgrades.

Fl is well worth the money, the amount of quality stock plugins you get is amazing, and FL has a perfect workflow for creative work

yea i agree alot on waveform being great, its a highly modular DAW with cheap prices and comes with a decent set of plugins (i personally use kilohearts tho)

along with the fact that any ableton user can most likely transfer to waveform easily

FL Studio.

I tried GarageBand and Ableton Live (the free version that came with my audio interface). I ended up picking FL Studio (after playing with the free trial a bit) because of the price for a better version and the lifetime upgrades. I might've stuck with Ableton if price wasn't an issue. Overall, I'm pretty happy with FL Studio in the end.

if your main thing is mixing/mastering try Ardour

the issue against FL is piano roll and step sequencer about FL being superior and the fades I prefer FL, the rest Ardour, but my opinion

Frankly, they're all pretty good and it's all about personal workflow. Some have included plugins which are noteworthy. Ultimately, they all perform the same function and do it pretty well. I've worked on a few DAWs, including Logic, Cubase, Nuendo, ProTools etc, but ultimately settled on Reaper because of its tiny footprint and absurd routing flexibility. Each finds their own flavour.... 🙂

Use whatever you like, they all sound the same. I usually get things started in Renoise cause I think it has the best drum programming workflow, but have no problem rendering stems and moving to another DAW during a production, usually Bitwig, Ableton, or Reaper. Sometimes I even use the Dirtywave M8 to get an idea down, then move it over to a DAW. It really doesn't matter. Use whatever has the workflow you like the best.

I've used Mixcraft for years. It's had it's fair share of issues and bugs but I find it to be intuitive and easy to pick up and it has some good features.

after S1 going to Linux, Dolby Atmos, transforming all you want in mid-side via Mixtool (doubled) and a splitter, the plug-ins it has like amps
