I love this game mode. For real the Bat-Chat is finally what it was always meant to be: an assassin-ghost. In normal gameplay everything is made to say Hello blind player, the enemy light is right here we’ll make a red arrow pointing at him, a highlight and everything else possible even though almost all heavies already have view range covering 50% of map

Comparing a mobile arcade game to a pc "simulation" game is a one-sided comparison. ofc WT would be better on most things cause its a pc game but the two games arent designed the same way. WT is a simulation game that focuses on realism while wotb has the arcade style gameplay similar to other WoT platforms.

Realistic Mode is the best Fun Mode. Here you can see who knows the tanks and where to shoot, plus you can ambush reds. Skirmish is the second best mode. Small maps and very intense battles. From the other modes Big Boss is the most fun and useful to develop tanks. Also like Burning Games because it forces campers to actually do something. Gravity and Uprising just suck.

I really love realistic because it makes lights and light armored meds shine, while in normal battles it looks like a YouTube thumbnail from 2015 from the heavies’ perspective: red arrows pointing at spotted enemies and huge health bar and name and tank name in glowing red. The only thing is, that’s weird, when playing on realistic it seems people like to go town, where it’s the easiest to get ambushed and not be able to fire back as the angle where they would be is too large. Even lights and meds start to go town while in normal I don’t have this problem, everything coordinates better.

Exactly. In realistic mode meds and lights, no mater what tier, become really important and players can actually put to use their strengths. Realistic is in fact where I use meds and especially lights the most by far.

Damn, I've recently bought Challenger and it's so funnier to play in realistic than Firefly, because firefly plays like TD while I like to play Challenger like a med

Seriously, if you have great eyesight and situation awareness, you can flank the entire enemy team, isolate campers and from this, play like a god dpm med. The damage is good, penetration very good and reload acceptable for a med. I've just almost won a 1v5 (in fact 2v5 but my ally was afk at spawn) by isolating a KV-2 which was too slow to follow their ally push, then caught everyone one by one. Since realistic don't have spotting mechanism (or at least it is simplified) I was able to kill secure a fast light across the map while dogfighting two meds with the ultra speed boost.
Complete fun despite losing, for once.

Its based off the Achilles irl which is a modified M10 Wolverine so therefore is allowed in Realistic for being a realistic tank

Only some are allowed, mainly the ones that have the real-life counterpart

Almost all Premium tanks can play on Realistic Battles. Also, there are many collector tanks (the blue ones) that can also play in this mode. Only the ones classified as Fantasy, like Smasher, Gravedigger and many tier 6 Battle Pass tanks and some tier 5 that are reskins of the tech tree tanks cannot.

As someone who uses auto aim in this game mode, it's broken, I feel like it should only activate when you can directly see them. But it should still be available becuase moving, looking around and shooting is very hard on mobile without it.

I really think Realistic Battles should be a permanent mode. It makes the player think more instead of relying on spotting mechanics and highlighted armor. And teamwork too!

It also helps more experienced players leverage the win chance of the team because they know where to hit. Less experienced players tend to bounce shots. Everyone has to think before they shoot. And tanks now have an upper edge to bounce shots because weak spots are not as apparent as with the aid of armor highlighting

Why would you do that? It's not realistic since irl you wouldn't fire on your allies by fear and pressure of losing. That fear is absent in the game so it needs to compensate somewhere else, by deleting that option.

Anyone realised that WG mixed up the camo name and the order’s name (eg harness the storm actually corresponds to the fox camo and vice versa), so be careful when you click. My suggestion is that you look at the preview carefully to see which camo the order gives

20win 8lose - playing tier VI, VII light tanks. Ltg, amx 13 57 the best for me.

Plan: quick capture our base. Dont go medside. After capture look around and flank or help team mates if needed. I usualy go after cam trough mid to enemy spawn and then flanking heavies. Using the best of my mobility. Hit and run to another target or circle of doom. ... And capture when it is easy cap. I won about 1/3 of battles by points. When 1v2 it is easy run and hide or just roam around map and wait for win

U can circle him or push him from behind/side, flank or attack him while he's focusing someone else, in realistic battles fast tanks with nice dpm like mediums or powerful clip abilities are way stronger than armored tanks like Type (just in my opinion, Leopard 1, Fv4005 and TVP are my favorite and go to tanks to play realistic), in regular battles yes, facing Types in medium tanks is pain and suffer 😅

This would help stem the flow of them being used just as an easy grind. Either that, or have the battles affect player’s WR. Depends on how you define artillery. A self propelled anti tank gun is also called a tank destroyer and could also be used to provide artillery fire. However there already are tank destroyers in the game. If you mean howitzers or mortars, they were used to attack infantry, not tanks in the first place.

Yeah I agree with the improvement in regular battles. Realistic teaches you to pay attention/be alert about your surroundings, especially when a tank disappears from spotting and learn armor profiles.

But the thing about the spotting mechanic is it adds another level of gameplay, and certain tanks kind of need it in order to be viable. Also you can abuse the 3rd person view which would be a pain to deal with constantly.

You can turn down the graphic settings if your device can’t handle it. PBR is entirely optional, and good for players with more capable devices to enjoy graphics while still maintaining game performance.

@bold schooner exactly, that's the problem. in order for pbr maps to run smoothly, we must lower the graphics settings to such a low extent that the other 95% of maps look terrible. let us select a different option (low) for pbr maps than regular ones, which run fine on high settings on most devices!

those maps wont be rendered with pbr if you turn object and terrain quality to medium or lower, but they are still too slow to function properly on my (and most other players' devices). to get anywhere near stable fps (30-45 or higher) we must switch it to low or sometimes even very low settings, which impacts the clarity of the other 32 maps in the game, which were running fine and didnt need to get taken down a notch to begin with

the mistake was most definitely with the implementation rather than the news article, as game modes almost always end on sunday evening/early monday morning when they come out on a weekend. the start date definitely varies, but usually it's friday morning (like it was with realistic mode this week and last) which would give 3 daytimes to play it

and as noted by other players above, further confirmation is provided not just by the schedule listed in the corresponding news article, but also the fact that other servers did indeed get the expected 3-day window from friday to sunday

this is compounded by the fact that every other server (including the old RU edition) always gets 17 hours to play each game mode whenever they come out, whereas NA is only ever given 14 hours per day. the problem is slightly less significant when they involve the possibility of playing overnight, but even when that's the case, it still somewhat screws NA players over by offering a total of 3 fewer hours each week

game-mode windows with 24 hours a day were provided with realistic this time around (and, in fact, every game mode since last november) but it hasnt been available for the vast majority of game modes in the past, including all those offered between february and october of last year, with the brief exception of gravity mode last june (this usually entails that NA gets 9 to 15 fewer weekly hours of allotted time to play game modes anyway, even without making mistakes like these)

during the latest overhaul of the player tutorial around march 2021 (the one where players are now given the opportunity to drive the tiger i, t-34-85, or easy 8 for 3 battles) the proving grounds map got phased out from blitz's introductory guide entirely, whereas new registrants would play their first couple of matches on that training map in the past
however, for unknown reasons theyre still keeping it around in the game files
this is inexplicable except if u think they might be planning to bring it back at some point
personally, i enjoyed the fact that we used to get to start out on a smaller and more manageable arena, rather than the foreign atmosphere and hostile confines of mines

p.s. to clarify, they generally last between 15h UTC and 05h the next day, which is of course a 14 hour long window
that's 11 am to 1 am EST with daylight savings, or 10 am to midnight between november and march
similarly, it's 8 am to 10 pm in PST during most of the year, and 7 am to 9 pm when wintertime rolls around
of course, there are other (smaller) time zones in between and on the edges too, as with every other region

meanwhile, the EU and APAC servers always get the entire time period between 8 am and 1 am in the local time zone listed in the game's news section, making for a daily total of 17 hours
without question, this is quite unfortunate for the rest of us, not to mention unfair when it comes to fun cross-server competitions

Well as time moves on games are getting better graphics. If your device can’t handle these graphics you will have to turn down the settings to whatever works. The other option would be to get a better device. 30 fps is not good, if you are getting that with LOW graphics then you should probably get a newer device. Not sure you can claim most players devices can’t handle PBR, if that was the case WG wouldn’t add them. @frozen bluff

for $2000, i purchased a very new device that boasts double the computing power of all my earlier laptops combined, isnt running any other programs simultaneously, and moreover is actually surprisingly well-optimized for gaming apps too

so i suspect the processing specs of its graphics arent the real issue here

all we need to get is a separate option for the rendering of those maps entirely, so that we can continue running the vast majority of maps in this game on high quality which has always worked fine, but toggle the settings for maps such as castilla to low so that they also perform smoothly without affecting the visual impact of every other map that has not yet received pbr

Unsportsmanlike conduct should be counted towards people who use specific tanks completely wrong and on purpose with the intent to play wrong. Such as heavies, meds, lights, camping in one spot all match, not going out to actually support their team. Its honestly one of the most annoying things in this mode is seeing people camp. Out of the 7 matches I just played 3 of those matches had 3 none td tanks or more camping in the usual td spots. Its absolutely annoying.

There's nothing to fix, if you don't know how to paint your red target for your team to see the enemy, that's your problem.

This is my favorite mode, because it removes the 10sec spotting handicap so many poor players rely on instead of just looking around and spotting the enemy.

If you can't put your reticle on your enemy, turning them red, then you don't know how to play the best game mode.

Mobile player's Aim bot mechanic works through obsticles, so learn how to play like. PC players can retain AIM LOCK past 10 seconds

Only if they reset their viewing behind an object and not within proxmity. The reason they disappear is that your dead player becomes the spotting commander. They can see over obstacles that live players cannot see.

players have unlimited viewing range which is why Oasis Palms is the best map to play on. Players can instantly kill AFK players before they finish loading or get back to their game.

If you don't know how to spot from a fallen tree or bush, then that's your fault. Realistic mechanics to hide ones self is part of the game.

Try removing the bright pink camo, you don't see thouse on tanks in real life.

I've said this before and I'll say it again:

WG teach the players how to mark targets in this game mode. This game mode has turned into a pissing match with noobs just fighting and not focus firing cuz NO ONE is flagging enemy targets.

Put that little aiming reticle on your enemy, Hit the Attack Button, and they turn red for Everyone on the team to see.

I've been in countless matches where someone on the team says, "how do you do that?" But instead the noob yolos and gets killed cuz the flanking team is not calling shots or no one is calling anything from scouting.

I used to really like playing realistic battles because it was a change and a nice challenge... but also more team-dependent than other battles. It's important to keep your eyes open, act with foresight and, of course, also know the enemy tanks... it's all a question of practice and will. And you could actually learn a lot for yourself in the realistic battles. But now this mode has become almost unplayable... you just get way too many incompetent, blind and completely uninterested teammates and way too often there are players with more than enough battles where you would actually expect a certain level of practice and experience... of which those who have contributed next to nothing in the battle still complain that the battle was not won for them. But hardly any of these guys think about the fact that he's just spoiling the fun for the others in the team with his way... well, it's just a stupid mobile game, you don't have to bother. So this mode has become just another mirror of what has become the disappointing rule in this game. My five cents on the subject 😐
And btw... you could also rename the realistic battles to blind fish mode, unfortunately 😉

and even so, I don't think either would be great as a permament mode. I could feasibly support Skirmish but Realistic would be a stretch as it departs from normal game mechanics

if Skirmish was a legit gamemode, I would actually play it more than pubs, even if it tracked game stats in its own category

This doesn't really belong in this channel at this point, but legitimately, a mode I'd like to see is "Endgame". I'm thinking a 3v3 on a full sized map. Players would only have 5 minutes to play the game out. That alone could do it, but I think to prevent camping and to encourage fighting, I would do a bleeding HP mechanic.

-25% of your maximum HP every 45 seconds, for the first minute and a half (2 times). After that, -33% of your remaining HP for the rest of the match.
However, you could prevent your HP bleed every 45 seconds if you deal more than 6.67% of the cumulative HP pool of the enemy. Also, the first two HP bleeds (25% of max HP) can not be skipped, only delayed by continuing to deal enough damage to the enemy.

6.67% was chosen because it's 20% HP of one of the three enemies' HP, averaged for the team. There would be no option to regain HP after it's gone.

I think this combo would lead to some interesting fights. The endgame of a match is always the most exciting of a match, especially when it gets down to only a few minutes remaining and there's only 1-3 players on each team left.

it could be similar in a single way that HP can be decreased, but almost everything else is not the same

the HP bleeding is only necessary, in my opinion, to simulate low HP in endgame scenarios, which is usually the case after earlier fighting. It wouldn't make sense to start people out at a flat 25% or 33% or even 50% HP because of how alpha damage and HP could result in people being 1 shot while others may have to deal 4-5 shots to kill another tank. I figured gradual HP bleeding was the best solution, along with a method to prevent that

Friendly fire used to be a regular feature in random battles, as was the mechanic that allowed ricochet to hit and damage nearby teammates. Unfortunately, both were removed again and both things would fit very well, especially in realistic battles, because they are very realistic.
I don't think I need to talk about the fact that you can of course intentionally do a lot of bad things with friendly fire... it was one of the main reasons why it was removed. On the other hand... not being able to vent your frustration with friendly fire with the current teams could probably be difficult for some players.
