This way, team 2 players will play 3 battles in another clan and will join back to the clan A and get tickets again. At this point I would suggest using those cups in storage which are just staying there and doing nothing. If a clan can create only 1 team and only if players who got most cups (top10) in clan will get tickets, then problem will be solved.

The idea of restricting clans to 1 team or even fixing the roster has been considered in past seasons and the general feedback from the clans is that they dont like such things, it is too restrictive. The 3 qualifying PYS was introduced in an attempt to ensure that at least those going into the final stages after PYS had actually played in the qualifiers. I agree its not an ideal system, but selling spots is not strictly against the rules of the game. Yes legally you can manipulate the rules to an extent to catch such a thing, but then you need the evidence which unless someone who actually buys a place complains will never really happen.

Then you need to draw a distinction between selling spots and sponsorship. Some clans do in fact pay players, aka sponsorship. That is also akin to selling spots, albeit with cash going the other way, but it does impact upon recruitment as some clans cannot compete with that and thus can grant an advantage to the more cash fluid clan. In real terms both could be seen in the same light and as such to penalise those who pay a clan to play and not penalise clans to pay players is somewhat harsh me thinks. Personally I do not fully see the overall harm in people choosing to pay a clan for a spot, if the have the qualifying PYS. Yes there is an argument about the moral side or the fact such players may be taken advantage of, but overall it doesnt really have an impact on the tour, not really. Ok so some player may get a Pro avatar or such, but flexing with an award that is not truly deserved is just rather sad really.

the multiple teams per clan is at its core unfair if I'm being honest, nothing is stopping clans from handling it like -BPS- did with making another team in BPS, under a different tag. Just imagine if a certain football team could put 2 teams into the qualifiers and the best performing team will count to the decision which teams go to the final stages, to me it's ludicrous that this is even considered debatable, it's at its very core unfair.

The example of BPS and -BPS- isn’t something that’s morally wrong tho imo. The points that either clans attain will only benefit their respective clans, instead of a singular entity. Plus if a single clan did run multiple teams, only the highest result would count anyways.

IMO there is a better way than allowing clans to create one team only.(As mentioned before, they could just play qualifiers in another clan). Better option in my opinion, would be doing something like in the Money Blaster tournament, that it's the same players playing all qualifiers and also the finals. This was a very good way of preventing selling spots, Idk why WG gave it up

There is absolutely nothing preventing a clan having multiple clans and there is literally no way such a thing can be stopped or even prevented. If a clan like BPS has multiple clans then fair enough they are not breaking the rules. At the end of the day if the tour community is so annoyed about this then why do the players go there? You cant have your cake and eat it I am afraid, in the vain hope that WG will magic some rule to prevent it whilst ensuring that no clan/player is penalised unjustly.

Putting in numerous teams is also perfectly fine, after all clans have spots for 50 players, not 10, and therefore it is perfectly acceptable for clans to field as many teams as they can muster. If 1 clan decides to put in 1 team and another clan puts in 2 then fair play to the clan that has 20 players who are active, skilled and willing enough to play in the tours. Every clan has this right, it is not open to the select few.

As for multiple clans under the same tag, like BPS, again there is nothing wrong with this I dont think. Again if a clan is successful enough to attract enough players to make such a thing happen then fair play to them. Yes we can bemoan that players are attracted to such clans due to the 'sponsorship' side and yes many clans are unable to compete at that kind of level, but the fact remains 'Professional' means 'someone engaged in a specific activity as paid occupation rather than a pastime'. On the one hand we all want the Pro Tour scene to grow and have lovely prize funds etc yet on the other we moan about clans like BPS paying players. Ngl as a member of a Tour clan its not easy to entice the top players across, wish it were, and yes trying to compete against paying clans feels unfair. That doesnt mean however that we wont continue to try and attract star players, just makes our job a lot harder.

I disagree on the multiple teams per clan part, tbh. While I understand that people want to fight for and under their own clan tag, the system is openly abused. That's partly because cups and tickets are handed to the clan as a whole, rather than specific players. The situation where one team fights the qualifiers and another team plays the top 8 because the first team doesn't meet the requirements as a Prof-team shouldn't be made possible imo.
To avoid that, it would mean that either there should be only one team per clan, or cups/tickets are given to the players that qualified only. And the rules from Prof should apply to qualifiers too, which would have avoided the specific example of this season.
There's no ideal solution, and most solutions can be abused in other ways and/or cause other issues and inconveniences in other ways, so I don't envy Wg needing to make the calls here

Restricting clans to fielding 1 single team is very unfair really. Clans will generally field a 'core' team and in lots of cases many players may not make the grade and will be become disenfranchised totally. Having the ability to put more than 1 team in is one way around this. I do agree with the cups side. In the 'Blaster' event teams went on their own merit, regardless of if they were 1st, 2nd or 3rd team. This was a good thing and it did prevent cups being 'shared'. Problem there was that the roster was fixed.

I am all for fixed rosters, ngl, but then the clans need to buy into that side and embrace it. Fixing rosters will eliminate a majority of the issues faced in CW and will actually make the rule violation checks a lot easier and no doubt quicker.

and selling of spots should definitely be prohibited - but it's something that'd be very hard to prove happened. WG doesn't see discord as proof (and for very good reasons), and I doubt people are dumb enough to talk about it in game

It’s not that it isn’t prohibited, it’s that there is no way for wargaming to regulate it. Discord doesn’t count as proof since it can easily be faked and no one would admit to it in game.

As with all things legal the problem rests with the wording, in this case 'Commercial Fraud', which means that a party was duped, either negligently or dishonestly, into doing something that gained an advantage. If WG removed 'commercial fraud' and changed the wording to read 'Any act related to the sale of accounts etc...' that would eliminate the mischief and make the rule far easier to apply across the board

Alternatively, if WG really wants to keep the 'commercial fraud' wording, just rearrange the words. In law the preceding words take precedence, so i this case everything needs to be a 'commercial fraud'. Rearranging it so that is reads "Sale of places in HoF or rewards that Team, clan and players receive and any commercial fraud related to the sale of accounts, is prohibited". That would certainly work and remove the issue of the wording without actually removing WG's overall intentions

Yes that is a major issue because players are free to clan hop and the 'smoking gun' evidence that a spot was actually sold only exists in places like discord DM's or something similar, none of which can be used as definitive evidence. Not only that, in most cases the person paying gets what they paid for, namely a spot in the team and the rewards that come with it. Most are probably after the avatar & camo and thus they are not likely to fess up really because they achieved their aim. They will just argue that it was 'sponsorship' and that brings me back to what I said earlier about where do you draw the line between clans paying players & players paying clans?

another thing that could potentially work upto a level is seeing qualifiers and prof as one tour. It'd mean being part of that specific clan and team for the duration of the tour season as a whole, but that would require a team to be set and players committing to it for quite a long period of time, which also isn't ideal

its not easy to combat. I personally have no issue with clans paying players, sponsorship is not a bad thing for the CW side tbh. Selling spots is different to an extent, but does fall under the same premise. As I said previously, players rolling out sporting avatars & camos they dont really deserve is rather sad and whilst the general player base doesnt have a clue, the CW base knows they dont warrant it and will not respect them.

The only real way to prevent such things is to fix the team rosters at the start of the season. That creates its own issues, what with people having to commit far in advance and things may come about that will prevent them from paying, thus leaving the team in the lurch potentially. Yes there are 10 spots so in theory that shouldnt be an issue, but it can be. Maybe increase the spots to 12, thus giving a blanket of 5 to fix the roster and then the clan has to pick the team of 10 from that fixed roster. That would in effect allow some freedom of movement for the clan and also prevent the spot selling because the roster is fixed.

Fixed team of 10 through whole tourney including PYS is best option. To increase roster to 12 or more would only put out more spots for sale. On other hand its hypocratic to blame spot byers, is there really any difference to spot sponsors who dont play any important game

And that is the thing, when you break it all down they both relate to the same in real terms. It may not seem that way, but it does. A player paying to be in the top tour is no different to a clan paying a top player to be in their team, not really. If 1 is bad, so is the other really. Its a circular argument. Both could be argued as a form of 'sponsorship', regardless which way the money actually goes.

If that is not an option then spot selling will continue, regardless. Having it that the top 10 players from the clan get the tickets could deprive a clan of tickets to actually take part despite having made it there, because players do move around even between top 8 clans between PYS & Pro tour

But when you see there is a rule violation, will be better if you will delete cups instead of deleting 25% or 75% of credits etc. So that teams can’t participate to top8 tournament.

It is very difficult to find a tournament team, and it is even more difficult to keep them all ready until the end of the tournament. For the first time in a long time, when we found the full team, the system's inability to find opponents at very long intervals, and the fact that they waited for a very long time since the beginning of the tournament, especially in the final, unfortunately caused my players to lose. Also, I know very well what is called a fast and flexible tournament, I have been organizing tournaments for at least five years with Challonge and Braced Cloud software. The 8 minutes you see in the picture is not our total waiting time, we waited for almost half an hour, there was also a constant rewind. If you answered as a game maker, you are giving a very wrong answer, if you are not authorized, let real authorities answer these questions and questions.

Reaching level 3 match without actually facing anyone is not same with what u suggest. If you think about the whole process you can understand why. Just think about total amount of competitors (as different scenarios). Lets say there are seven teams at the beginning, and later one more entered. What should they do? You suggest them to give everything to three teams, but the current model will still pick of them. The current model can be still considered as fast (since it is still faster than "other" tournaments). They cannot set teams via using bots to reduce waiting durations. You can either call more people to play in these tournaments or try different (higher) tiers maybe.

While we are on the topic of possible changes to the competitive scene, I’d like to bring up an idea for a change in how the seeding works.

First I’d like to address the problem I see, which is that people who don’t create re-roll accounts are at an inherent disadvantage when it comes to the current seeding system. Anyone’s account that includes the “learning phase” of their blitz experience is going to have significantly lower career stats— and therefore lower seeding— compared to how they are able to perform at the current time, due to all that they have learned up to that point.

Rather than taking into consideration the career Tier 10 stats of an account when weighing it for seeding, I propose that there be a required amount of qualifying games to each season.

Each player that plans to play the season must complete, at some point during the qualification time, “x” number of tier 10 games. (Say, for example, players were required to play 100 tier 10 games during the month of May in order to qualify for competitive tournaments in June.)

These “qualifying games” could be normal public games, with the player being able to decide if and when they want their qualifying games to start, similar to how some events have worked in the past where the player decides when the evaluation period starts. It could even become a toggle-able button in the public match menu, where a player can turn on and off when they want to be evaluated, like when they turn on and off encounter or supremacy game modes. This would allow the player to still play casually whenever they want but still have a basis for seeding evaluation through the winrate of their [100] (arbitrary) qualifying games. It would also not affect players who have no interest in tournaments because they could leave the “evaluation” option toggled off.

Then, when the season rolls around, those who have completed the [100] (arbitrary) evaluation games get seeded based on their winrate during those games, and those who didn’t complete [100] (arbitrary) evaluation games could be allowed to participate but at some sort of seeding penalty.

Here are some reasons why this change could be beneficial:

1. Every account would have equal opportunity to achieve good seeding, because poor early career stats wouldn’t weigh down on the seeding (as they currently do).

2. Having an evaluation phase would encourage active gameplay since players would be unable to float their entire career’s seeding on what is effectively one evaluation right now (after getting good stats, players no longer have to play the game to have good seeding. Thus, if a bad player buys a good account in the current seeding state, they can keep that good seeding despite being a bad player. If every season required an evaluation phase, bad players who buy good accounts would no longer be able to benefit, since they would have to play.

3. Taking into consideration reason 1, listed above, this could help negate some of the account selling that everyone knows takes place. There would be no reason to buy an account that has high tier 10 career winrate if the measurement of the qualifying [100] (arbitrary) games would be required on all accounts to be eligible to play without a seeding penalty. It would also be implausible for someone to farm stats on accounts they intend to sell as well as their own account if they were planning to play {due to the time required to play [100] (arbitrary) games}, which further limits the possibilities of account-selling networks for the purposes of gaining a competitive advantage (although it would not completely eliminate it).

4. This solves the issue of unweighted winrates that has been seen in previous seasons, because the evaluation period would be the same weight for every player, as opposed to how it currently is, where high winrate over a short period is rewarded, yet slightly lower winrate over a much longer period has the same weight, e.g. 70% over 1000 games is more valuable for seeding than 65% over 20,000 games, despite the 65% over 20,000 games being much more difficult and impressive to achieve.

A possible penalty for not completing [100] (arbitrary) games would be to assume every unplayed evaluation game will be a loss. So if a player has won 20 of 40 games, and the evaluation was out of 100 games, the player would have a 20/100= 20% seeding winrate. A player who has won 70/90 games would receive a 70/100= 70% seeding winrate. In the case a player has played no tier 10 evaluation games but still wants to play, the would be seeded with a 0/100=0% seeding winrate.

The seeding was in fact changed in order to combat re-rolls & 100% WR accounts. Yes there is an argument that someone with a career wr of 55% after 100k battles could be disadvantaged against someone with 6k battles & 70% wr. Thing is making it a random 100 games doesnt actually help, because players will just spam tanks like the 50B or something. Not only that, but some servers still have the newbie MM, so again rolling out with less than say 3k battles will put a re-roll up against new players and their wr will still look awesome in any event.

Personally I dont think it would work, plus the top teams teams know who the 'best players' are and regardless of career stats they will still grab them.

To obtain a truly unbais WR seeding a move towards clan seeding based on clan performance would be best. That however also carries with it massive problems, especially with new clans. Not saying the system currently is the best, but it is certainly better than what we had previously

Why would there be an issue if someone played one specific tank? I think that it’s the same way right now. Someone could play 1000 games in 50B or whatever they want, but the difference is that with the current plan, once they get that 75% or whatever, they just get to keep it forever.

Eventually, if the competitive scene were to grow enough on small servers (so maybe this would work on the EU and/or CIS servers), there could be a separate gamemode where players only face other players who are also completing their qualifying games. That would be a very cool demonstration of actual skill because the best players would keep their usual high winrates but some of the players who have high winrates now would lose to those best players. I think there would be greater stratification in seeding if it was done like this. But obviously this wouldn’t work on low-participation servers like NA or APAC just yet.

Imagine the best player on each team plays the last 100 games on each of the team’s accounts before the season starts. That wouldn’t be good. 😂 I think it has to be a little more restricting. Firstly what you are suggesting is to introduce something into the game that only really applies to the top 5% overall. Secondly newbie MM is based on amount of battles, not tier. Not that newbie MM actually works, because it also works on the queue system in any event. Thirdly, it wont stop re-rolls.

Personally I dont understand what the huge problem is with re-rolls. Yes 100% wr accounts was an issue, so the seeding in that respect was changed in order to ensure that such acc's dont give such an advantage. If a player decides to re-roll and after their 1000 battles, which is now the cut off for the seeding, they have 80% wr then fair play to them. Then you have the 'selling' of spots'. Changing the seeding wont alter that 1 little bit. Those clans that sell spots will still sell them, you think they care about seeding? And what effect does seeding have on top 8, which is where spots are sold, well I can tell no impact at all.

Im not saying the system is perfect, because no system is, but at the end of the day the top 8's across all servers were not unexpected and certainly no team got to top 8 based on seeding bias or whatever you want to call it, well not imho.

The meta rn is not interesting at all if you are plying it. Maus is irrelevant, vickers is rarely played it’s repetitive and boring. Is7, 60tp, and type are all basically the same style of tank and how you run it there isn’t much fun. Last season it was 4 lts and whoever won the lt fight won the game. It’s far from interesting

Historical part left the game 5-6years ago i have no idea why people still believe this is some advanced tank simulator. Just a regular arcade game that brings you some fun. After playing same tank over and over again makes the fun less. I think its great way to play same tanks but different. Yes some changes are "weird" but overall its great to "rebalance" whole tier and have different experiences. Random,Rated, Tournaments doesn't matter tier X will feel different and thats a good thing. Hopefully tier 8 changes too since that tier is overcrowded with premium copy/paste tanks.

Historical lol I know of no tank that ever existed that if the track was broken you pressed a button and instant retrack. In real life mending tracks takes ages and I mean ages to sort out. In real life the Hetzer would be facing the likes of the IS3 and many Tier X tanks never existed. This was never a tank sim or a truly historical game, but an acarade game with a slant towards history of pre-modern warfare tanks (lets not mention the Chieftain Mk6 lol)

We are making trainings and preparing tactics with the current meta but with those balance changes it’s obvious that meta is going to change. In this situation all of the time we spent on training battles and preparing tactics are going to trash which is not good for us.

To adapt a situation first you need to see the situation and need some time, don’t you? We do trainings with the same reason, to adopt situations. But when 50 tanks are being changed, how can we have idea about what’s going on and What should we do? If the update will be in middle of season we will probably have 1 or maybe 2 days for training. In those trainings, which of the 50 tanks - sorry Lets say we agreed that 30 of tanks doesn’t need to be tried and agree they are still bad and so we have 20 tanks left - will you try there? In 2 trainings maximum. There will be absolute chaos, and tournaments are the top level of this game so we must Show something good there, without being “adopted”, how can we do that ?

Third, Stijn didn’t said good teams need to test every single tank, the message before him that was sent by me said we will need to test too many tanks. You are speaking about reading the correct data. Can you Show me the correct data then? Since we don’t have something else than data sent by WG and it says 50 tanks will get buffs and nerfs. In this situation there are tanks to be tested again in competition. I can tell you every tank that my team is interested in testing and you will see that it’s 15+. And to test those, we would have only 1-2 ok maybe 3 or okay maximum 4 days if WG would make the update in tournament season. How are you expecting teams to test all those tanks in this small period of time considering in 1 training we usually play only 6 maps = 12 games, tho 50% of the games are going to trash because one of the teams making a mistake and the result is giving a missleading information to us.

Are mixed control professional tournaments a possibility? Coz I wanna play competitively but the friends that I play with regularly and most in my clan are PC players. Let’s face it, there’s more PC players in the game than touch, hence why same control mode queues take so long. Plus right now the tournament scene (at least for APAC) is so stale, same players, same teams. There will probably be an uproar amongst the touch community if WG does change it to mixed controls. But most really good touch players can hold their own against PC players anyways.

Well no, there are some plausible reasons. Again, i dont really care either way, but I offer what I believe is the explanation for it.

While the skill ceiling of the comp scene would change very little if at all, the skill floor is drastically lowered, tour skills that are difficult to develop in mobile are generally much easier to do in pc. For example, lt brawling and hit and runs are made easier because of off screen auto aim lock on, in mobile you’ll have to be keeping your entire screen on the guy, and this tends to result in crashing into other tanks/buildings which gets you killed or bled

For heavy brawling, you are more aware of your surroundings because its generally more comfortable - not easier - to look around and move for hp share or low targets, its not any much requiring of skill to do this, its just simply more comfortable to do it on pc.

In addition to selective scoping and the mostly agreed upon easier-to-aim on pc, pc in general as I’ve shown is just way more comfortable/easier to play tours on, introducing pc into mobile would eradicate most mobile players save for the extremely experienced ones, to get that competitive advantage.

I will not use the preference explanation, and admittedly it is very difficult to find a logically valid reason as to why wg is not considering a pc scene, the best one i can think of is wg wanting to have firm grips on multiple platforms at the same time, mobile comp is becoming increasingly popular (ever so slowly), by creating a pc comp scene wg looses hold on mobile players and denies them this market. A separate coexisting pc league might make sense, that has its pro events like twister at different times to avoid splitting viewership, but I think wg just doesn’t spare the effort to create a separate scene

I have another issue I’d like to bring up. This is about the way season coins tournament work.

So, right now teams are split into groups of 4 with double elimination where one team may lose once but work their way back up to the top if they win.

I had this situation many times where my team gets to the grand finals only to lose once to the same team that we beat in lower brackets, and therefore lose the tournament, which is a little unfair since my team only lost once. Therefore it’s not true to the double elimination rule.

My proposed solution would be to make the grand finals a ‘best of 5’ rounds instead of ‘best of 3’.
