There should be something done about playing 2 tours at a time
Even supposing 2 attempts are played with the maximum amount of games possible and all of them played to 7min, it still leaves long enough time to play a 2v2 or 3v3 in early afternoon, besides no one realistically needs 5h to play one
So maybe there can be something like, if you're a participant of spring games or any future season, you cannot start an attempt in quick tours 3h before your tourney start, which is 5pm, which leaves enough time to warm up for the night or make some credits

But by the time the 2nd and 3rd stage occur, you already have teams that either finished 1st, or 2nd, in their respective previous stage.

And it doesn't make sense that some teams who got 2nd end up getting a bye in the 3rd stage while the 1st place team has to fight early in the quarter finals.

Some teams aren't like that unfortunately. They would always put the main 7 in even for the easiest games. So basically if you start comp and is still developing your skills and knowledge, you're most likely getting benched 90% of the games (if you got in a decent team) and doesn't get to learn a whole lot

Hello! I have some ideas for how competitive tournaments could be improved based on the experiences I’ve had in this current spring season and beforehand.

First, I would like to discuss general seeding.

For the current Spring Season 2022, the seven highest winrates of each team are just added up and averaged. Essentially, what this does is increase the value of low-battle-count, and high-winrate accounts. Where the problem lies is in the fact that the winrates are not weighted. For example, to demonstrate seeding this Spring 2022 season, let me make an oversimplified example with a team consisting of 2 players. Here are the stats for each hypothetical player on this 2-player team:
Player 1: 50% winrate over 20,000 tier 10 battles
Player 2: 90% winrate over 1000 tier 10 battles
So with these stats, the team’s winrate for seeding in this current spring season would be equal to (50% + 90%)/2= 70%. This is flawed because Player 1 has played far more battles than player 2. By setting their team winrate equal to 70%, it would imply that their team has won 70% of their tier 10 games. However, in reality, they have only won (50%x20000+90%x1000)= 10,900 of their (20000+1000)= 21,000 games, equal to a 52% winrate with rounding. Therefore, a team that has only won 52% of their overall games gets to take advantage of the current seeding system and is seeded at 70% winrate. This is the problem.

Now for the possible solutions to this problem. I have come up with two ways to solve this problem.

1) Take into account only the most recent “x” number of tier 10 games when determining winrate, for example, the most recent 500 tier 10 games. This would eliminate the need for weighted stats in the first place, because every player would be evaluated based on the same number of games (the weight is already equal). Another issue this solution solves is the difficulty to get good seeding with a veteran account. Veteran accounts usually include the “learning phase” of a player’s career. This “learning phase” includes lots of mistakes and therefore leads to much lower career winrate. Teams with original accounts like these are hurt by the current seeding system because of the existence of other teams who have “re-rolled” their accounts in order to achieve higher career winrate by eliminating the “learning phase” on the new account. By counting only the most recent “x” number of games, veteran accounts would not have to be dragged down by their “learning phase” and would be on equal footing with re-rolls. To summarize, counting only the most recent “x” number of games on each player’s account on any given team eliminates the problem with unweighted career stats.(The assumption is still that it only counts the highest 7 on the team).
2) Make the career tier 10 stats weighted, meaning to sum up a team’s tier 10 victories and divide by the team’s sum of tier 10 games (and still assume it only counts the highest 7 on the team). This is my secondary solution, as it is still harder for teams full of veteran accounts to overcome the seeding deficit of their “learning phase” as compared to re-rolled accounts. However, it is still better than the current situation.

TL;DR: The current seeding method is flawed because career stats are being used to evaluate a team’s seeding but they are unweighted. The solution is to either use the most recent “x” number of games, thereby eliminating the need for weighted stats because every player’s weight would be the same (the better solution) or by weighing the current career stats that are being used (the secondary solution).

The second issue I would like to discuss is how the seeding is used as the tournaments progress.

In the current system, seeding is done before each stage of each qualifier. The flaw in this is that it decreases the value of winning your bracket. Let me create two hypothetical teams to demonstrate what I mean.
Team 1: 70% tier 10 winrate
Team 2: 60% tier 10 winrate
Assume the above stats for this hypothetical scenario.
In the current system, if Team 2 beats team 1 in Day 1 of the qualifier, Team 1 still receives higher seeding when Day 2 of the qualifier begins, solely because they have higher team winrate. In reality, because they won, Team 2 should have higher seeding in Day 2 of the qualifier.

This proposal is based on how the second stage of the Money Blaster tournament was seeded. That is how seeding should work in later stages.

The solution to this problem is to have winrate seeding be used for the initial seeding. After that, the top 2 teams of each bracket should be given seeds of 1 (the team who won the bracket) and 2 (the team who was runner-up in that bracket). Moving forwards, there would be many 1- and 2-seeds. Once this seeding has taken place, then the team’s seasonal winrate should become the tie-breaking factor. If two 1-seeds are tied, but one of them has 100% seasonal winrate and one has 90% seasonal winrate, the 100% winrate team would receive the better seeding. If there are still ties at this point, then it seems fair to use the team’s initial seeding winrate to break the ties (but this would only happen early in the season when not enough games had been played to stratify/differentiate the participating teams, for example, two teams with 90% winrate facing off).

TL;DR: Tier 10 winrate seeding should not be used as the primary seeding factor except for stage 1 of each qualifier. Anything beyond that is too much of an advantage for high-winrate teams because it allows them to have advantageous seeding in later stages despite worse performances than other teams. Instead, the winners of each bracket should receive the highest seeding in the next stages, ties being broken by seasonal winrate and then tier 10 winrate if ties still remain.

I concur with Sped; an aspiring top 8 team should be able to put up a good score against another top 8/top 4 team. And while I'm in no place to chip in with my position, I believe that Metro actually has a very good chance of beating Pramo.

There's no need to whine and pitch a fit to WG that you got a supposedly "tough" bracket, considering that all Metro needs to do to make top 8 is make 4th tomorrow, meaning Metro doesn't really need to try after beating Pramo. Metro is a very consistent team that is aiming for top 8, so it should be no surprise that, in order to make top 8, you have to beat a team that is similar or better to you in terms of their performance. Day 3 brackets are ideally constructed in groups of 8, and this series, having less attendance than previous series, was finally able to form an ideal bracket with the 8 teams that have made it into Day 3.

Yes, the previous qualifiers were in two different groups but that's because they each had 10 participating teams, and since it's more reasonable that WG would split the 10 teams into two single elim groups of 5, than etc.

You still have the opportunity to fight for 3rd place. Just make it past the quarter round. It was just that the awkward groups of 5 meant that certain teams were able to more or less get that oppurtunity for 3rd place for free.
