Unfortunately, during the 4th tournament of the "Prove your skill" series we received complaints and revealed violations by the clan - [REK3M].

The first rule of participating in Qualifying tournaments was violated:
"All insults connected to Players, Teams, Tournament Organizers and their employees, and tournament match streamers are prohibited. Any behavior that the Tournament Organizer may consider offensive and detrimental to the image of the Team and the Tournament Organizer is prohibited. Violation of this rule will result in the entire Team losing the points they earned in the tournament, which are required for promotion in the Hall of Fame. Depending on the violation of Game Rules, sanctions may be imposed on certain violators".

If this rule is violated, the team will be completely stripped of the cups received in the Tournament.

We ask all participants of the qualifying tournaments to be more serious and respectful to those around them and not to break any more rules.

At the end of the tournament battle, the last surviving player of your team insulted the opponents.

We do not penalize teams for slang language.

Whilst I am not condoning the msg stated in the EG game, I would point out that the difference in the 2 situations, as far as I can tell, is that WG received complaints regarding whatever the REK3M player wrote. That makes quite a difference because it is how the msg is received by those it is directed at, in this case clearly someone or more than one felt insulted by whatever was said and reported it. It seems that no one was insulted by what was said by EG, thus no reports and therefore no action from WG.

I am 100% certain that those who played that particular game would have replays that would show the offending msg and I would suggest that be the 1st port of call. I would advise REK3M to see what happened first, see if there is anyway they can remedy that act and see if they can then appeal, rather than attempt to change the current decision.

Firstly I think this is incredible stupid on WG’s behalf. It opens WG to direct criminal liability if anyone did self harm themselves from a message in this game. I’ll be honest, the way this has been handled is simply making it easy for me to separate myself from any moderating duties here or the NA Forum. I would suggest that anyone who feels aggrieved by WG’s actions to make a complaint. Here in the USA a company is liable for what is allowed on their pages (not liable for things posted but not allowed), as such since WG is allowing KYS and other slangs for self harm and other vile actions - I suspect a train wreck headed this way.

All, try to calm down somewhat here and resist the temptation to bully/abuse and have a go at Sirius, he is merely doing his job nothing more. I totally agree that we cannot have a situation with rules for one and rules for another, but Sirius is not the ultimate decision maker and thus it is not his call. On behalf of the REK3M members that fought during autumn season, we would like to apologize for the actions of the member that committed the infraction during PYS #4.
We understand that the rules about provocation and communication were enforced before this season.
First we wish to apologize for the team that was victim of the provocation, belittling and unsporting speeches. We are ashamed of what has happened, and the poor example that was set.
We would like to specify that we are humans, and that a lot of us had anger and emotional issues. Despite the stress of clanwars and the amount of hours played in a short period of time, most of us, and of other clans too, could hold back their words, but the player responsible for the accident unfortunately could not resist to the end. We are in no matter trying justify his actions, but we wanted to explain the how and why.
We are terribly ashamed to have set a bad image and example of Blitz clanwars, and understand the penalty.
However, we would nonetheless request a fairer judgement. Certain players, such as one in EG-, sent just as, if not more offensive remarks directed to us. However, the rest of his team was not penalized unlike us, even more is the fact that himself was not penalized as a whole despite the positive answers in player report.
We hope that either an equal punishment would be taken against EG- or that like older seasons, that one player is not drowning the rest of the 9 innocent players with him.

The User Support Center can file a complaint about a violation of the game rules and if it is confirmed, the offender will be punished.

That being said I prefer mutual sportsmanship.

However, ultimately, WG through EULA and tournament regulations, have a carte blanche to intervene as they determine necessary.

Two issues here.

1. Can't compare REK3M / EG- penalties because we don't know what REK3M said.

2. Penalising whole clan for one or a few peoples bad chat is unfair IMO. I'd prefer individual bans from tournament and rest of clan/team being allowed to continue.

I think that’s the most hilarious thing. The lack of consistency is incredible. We saw both eu and na rig games over the summer, nearly identical situations, and one gets punish while the other does not. Maybe we don’t have all the details as to why rekem got punished but how different could it really be? I just have a hard time thinking they could have done something substantially worse given what was said by eg, in part because I feel like it doesn’t get much worse than that

Not all situations are black and white I am afraid. It is easy to say X got away with something whilst A got punished, but in most cases the facts are not the same and its those little differences that lead to certain decisions. Looking from the outside it is easy for us to jump to a conclusion and demonise a particular group or thing, but once you know the full picture it starts to make more sense.

Dont get me wrong, I am not a fan of taking action against an entire team for the acts of 1 and that should be something for WG to consider, but I am a fan of having rules to regulate both gameplay and eliminate any abuse. I feel gutted for REK3M, of course I do and no doubt do most of you, but its now too late to change I am afraid. Teams have been moved up and received tickets and to remove those now could create a bigger issue.

Are their lessons to be learnt, of course there are and not just on WG's part but also the players to an extent - refrain from sending any messages that can be seen as insulting/offensive - regardless if done as a joke or not. Just dont risk it and keep it in VC

I know for a fact that particular player is truly mortified and going through a bad patch right now so please be mindful that there are real people behind the drama and no doubt REK3M as a team and that player in particular are feeling totally disappointed right now. I am pretty sure we all feel REK3M have been dealt a bad hand and we all support them at this time, but dragging the matter on and on wont get them past this

1. People who have had a case of depression and/or suicide ideation
2. People who are still recovering from such past that can easily be triggered with such phrases
3. People who have a friend or family member who killed themselves.
   And I am sure that many people here can relate to any of those 3 categories. Speaking from a personal experience, I belong to one of them, and I find phrases like "kys" incredibly insensitive and offensive. So, I think those phrases should call for penalties.

I have stated my beliefs and reasoning above. Alternatively, I would like to know why you think telling people to kill themselves is not bannable instantly. Given that what the other team said was not disclosed, I don't want to hear that it was because "kys" wasn't as offensive as what the other team said. It's stupid to think that only one should be punished when two unacceptable words were said. So I think many people who were offended by your action and words, including myself, deserve an explanation on your part as to what your thought process is.

Il lead the team especialy on the behaviour aspect, as 9 of 10 are french speakers. Due to the challengers tours getting too close for the situation to be unlocked, I feel like it becomes rightful that I reveal what has been said.
In the game that was reported and subsequently banned us, one of our members couldn't control his nerves and swore, saying "dog sh *t" at the last second of the game.
Essentially, our opponents that we know well reported us as a joke for the laughs and we were banned for this following reason.
Although it is not acceptable words to use in a tournament, it has not been directed to anyone, has not offended anyone, and are far from as serious as what EG told us. And EG were directing their words to use and not swearing in the blank.
It seems a level more unfair to ban an entire team for something that is a swear rather than an insult and leave another team be after degrees more violent insults directed to someone.

There’s no speculation. I’m pointing out the fact that when you’re addressing an issue like this via a medium such as Discord and then state to “write to the support center and complain”, it comes off as dismissive. When you couple that with the inconsistency that is exhibited with the way rules are applied in general, it’s just not a good look.
I’ve been accused on the forums of being a WG apologist as I try to understand the issue from all perspectives and I know that often there is context missing in these conversations which both @latent olive and @winter swallow alluded to. I also think that as a whole, the Blitz team does a much better job than the other WG teams regarding communication and interaction with the player base. That said, everyone knows that WG is loathe to address behavioral issues (language, trolls, AFK, etc) and that the customer support team is a tiger with no teeth. Whether this specific instance reflects the problem or not, the reality is that many aren’t going to give WG the benefit of the doubt until the broader problem is addressed.

With all due respect, I think most of the complaining about the fact of how the previous rewards last year gave more rewards (even though I’m pretty sure this is just about the professional tournament streams and not blitzcup streams). But I agree with you that I think the community complains a lot. WG have gave out a lot of these small events which give easy to obtain rewards and sometimes a tank (ex. Kunze, 50tp prot., etc.) and people aren’t usually satisfied if the tank isn’t like the best for its tier. If people dislike the rewards they don’t have to play for them. Also can see this in your average public game or even sometimes about the competitive scene. I think it’s just as a community we expect so much from the devs it’s difficult for them to satisfy the community and make the game balanced and enjoyable.

This season some PYS streams got rewards, which doesnt normally happen, and yes the Pro tours, all streams, will also do rewards. If you compare the Pro tours then the rewards are not usually big, Avatar, boasters and premium time is the norm. BlitzCup is totally different, that was were the keys were not in the PYS or Pro tour.

I understood that the decisions won't be changed. I accepted it - I just wish to be more informed about why those decisions were taken.
By this I mean, EG sent constructed, objective and offending insults and were reported by around 8-9 people the night of the incident.
REK3M sent undirected, moderate swearing that did not offend but was reported as a joke by one singular person the night of the incident.
EG received no team penalty, only one chatban. REK3M lost top 16.
The lack of logic in the severity of either sides and weirdness of the situation leads me to ask for more details about the decision making

With regards to streaming, there are various issues that need to be considered. Unfortunately EU has more streamers than there are slots, which means that some unfortunately do not get to stream. Yes we also have 4 regions, but some, especially NA, actually have a lack of streamers. There is an expectation that some of the EU based streamers will therefore cover NA, which places quite a burden on the streamer due to the time difference.
For example, for myself the NA streams start at 5am and for those based in central Europe that is a 3am start. Add into that mix RL commitments and the overall situation becomes obvious.
Not only that but most of the streamer are EN speaking and we are now seeing an increase in other languages, such as Spanish, which is fantastic. For obvious reasons priority is given to ensuring that non-ENG speaking streamers get a slot, which again reduces the amount of slots available.
We therefore try to hit a fair balance, whereby newer streamers look to the Challengers tour when there are too many ENG speaking streamers on a particular region or look at covering another region, like NA or even CIS.
There is no point in expanding the spec slots really, because all this does is saturate the streams and results in confusion for viewers and is unrewarding for the actual streamer.
Its not as simple as 'plonk X streamer in' because of these reasons. All the streamers have worked hard to bring coverage of the tours, some over a very long period of time, and it would therefore be unfair to sideline them as such. As I said, we try to operate a fair and reasonable system so that everyone has the opportunity to stream, be it a different server or Challengers tour.
Presently the Challengers tour for NA is totally not covered and the EU is lacking coverage also. As for the lower echelon, well not a single person is streaming any of those, mainly because everyone wants the prize - PRO TOUR, which alas cant be done for everyone.

I myself stepped down from both NA & Asia in order for others to have a go.

Personally I would like all the tours to be streamed and for newer streamers to consider doing that. Main issue however is that those tours wont be rewards and thus a lack of interest, which puts the streamer off somewhat. I think streaming all the tours would be good for the overall tour scene but as I said everyone wants the PRO tour and arent overly interested in the lower tours, which is a shame.
I myself started by streaming the Challengers Tour on EU & NA and it was great fun. I also streamed the Challengers on CIS and again it was great fun. Ok so I didnt get many viewers, but I did get to stream clans that wouldnt normally get coverage and see some great action.
I note that for this season, Rolling and Wildoneshelper are down to stream EU Challengers, which is great for the scene and the game.
Again I would ask those who are newer to the commentary side of streaming to consider the lower tours, because they are a great place to learn and also give much needed coverage

Especially since in 2021, Challengers on all servers contain some very good teams that didn't quite make the cut given the new PYS qualifying design.

EU has R3TI SPRTA FEN1X A1N1- etc. - these are teams that have taken pro teams to task during the PYS on multiple occasions.

The quality of gameplay we will see will be worth watching.

IDK about LE (Lower Echelon) on Asia / NA - but even that on EU and CIS has talent.

But like Fugit said the core issue with NA is absence of native streamers and the killer timezone difference for streamers in other regions. For me it is a 2am start (prep.) and a 5am conclusion. It just isn't feasible except in exceptional circumstances and with a bit of biting the bullet IRL next day.

EU and CIS Challengers have some truly great teams, many of which couldve been Top 8 and missed by narrow margins in some cases. Same with lower echelon on those servers, there are some top teams residing in that group.

Yes I get the viewing figures goes down somewhat, but you and I both know we dont do it for that reason, we do it because we love the front row seat and showing clans wars, regardless of the tier.

As for NA, yes I am in a similar boat, its a 3am start to prepare, with a 5am kick off and a 7am finish followed by work at 7.30am - its just a killer.

is it somewhere possible to find a complete list of cowerages, now we that play on EU can in game see only EU pro tour streamers, but not other regions and idk if challengers. Especially eventual english streams on CIS are impossible find. Would it be possible to post the full setup of streamlinks somewhere? Maybe here on discord, so they are saved for future aswell?
