first of all randoms performance doesn't have a lot to do with tournaments, you can be a 70% player and be clueless in tournaments,

2nd of all it should be tier X only if you are gonna use that system, cus sealclubbing exists, and trust me people would abuse it,

3rd of all a stopgap shouldn't be the goal for spring, there is literally a month where there is no tournaments, which means that there is plenty of time to come up with ideas for a new seeding system, if a stopgap seeding system comes for spring, it would be a bit of a joke tbh

I totally agree with you. But since I have no hopes that a new good system will be implemented in the near future anymore, I proposed the simplest and most immediate possible fix to the wr abuse, which is changing the current wr average seeding to a battle-weighted one. It's far from perfect but it's undeniably better that what we have at this moment.
Tier 10 battle-weighted wr*damage would be even better in the short term.

If you count battles with wr then you instantly kill every players that are still playing on their first account despite their 62% wr for 50k battles (which is super honorable) and so on all pull up the reroll system

a player gets cups for playing right, the more you win, the more cups you get, at the end of the season the total of these cups are divided by the battles played by this player, this is done for every player individually,
this will give a player a ratio of whatever

if this player goes to a different team, you take the average cups of the players, idk if it should be battle-weighted, I think it should be, and like maybe a minimum for the amount of games, to get a relatively accurate representation,

so players can mix and match if they want to, and the teams with the higher avg cups/game (= +-wr in tournament games) get the better seeding,

about the AQVA thing, the players in that team played last season in some strong teams, so their seeding should be fine

again, it's counted for individuals not clans, fixing it to clans would be sht

100% WR accounts are clearly an issue. However, we know WR seeding is staying - so the onus is now on the players to ensure their team(s) have 100% WR accounts in to counter-balance the other teams doing it.

It's a 'Tragedy of the Commons', negative-feedback issue. Can't beat them? Join them.

All this would be fixed if instead of using WR seeding by averaging Win Rates (Total WR/# of players) Wg would look at average winrate by individual battles (Total # of Wins/Total # of losses and draws). That way having a 1 battle 100% account is worth less than having a 60% 10k battle account.

A new elo system would be nice, but not necessary. WG should just make use of basic statistics to have a fair system.

Yes they do make a difference especially for the EU server. The EU server top 8 was highly competitive in the Winter Season so the effect was magnified. The usage of 100 win rate accounts caused quite a lot of top 8 clans to face one another at an early stage (e.g. VE1L vs. APA in group stage quarterfinals), which is against what seeding is supposed to be doing

Given the servers are getting more and more competitive, we can't tell the top 8 quickly, and this is going to be the case for the future seasons to come.

So in conclusion: TOP8 teams should not event fight in the group stage, they should be straight through the second day because of seeding

100% win rate accounts will not have that big of an effect if the server has an extremely high percentage of competitive teams like Asia server, or an extremely low percentage of competitive teams. EU server somehow falls in the middle.

Well at least the top 8 teams proved themselves to be in the top 8 already so why can they not be given an automatic qualification spot to the second day of games? They will drop from top 8 if they have a terrible position in the second day and they have to play the first day again.

Currently the seeding means some teams have to prove themselves in a lot of battles (let's say 10) in order to be top 8, while some teams have to prove themselves in just 3-4 battles in order to be top 8.

Seeding should never be used to rig since it is used to measure how good the teams are in ability, not how good the teams are in terms of "rigging the system". A fair seeding should ensure no team has a distinct advantage or disadvantage in the tournament.

Just make that if a player wants to participate, he will need 1000 regular battles (not rating) in a tier 10. Boom, problem solved

They can not be given a spot to the 2nd day, cause it would be more unfair than WR rigging and if the team is good enough and really deserves the TOP8, it should't be a problem for this team to reach day 2, even against good teams. HSOP made it to the 2nd day despite the fact that they faced LOCA in the 1st round and then RA1D in the 2nd

It will be a disaster for the viewership experience if EG- vs. AQVA happens in group stage quarterfinals let's say. On the Asia server, we already have FEAST vs. GV twice in group stage quarterfinals, when both of them are grand finalists in Winter Season Championship. This would literally mean a random seeding is better.

I understand that there will always be a way to rig not just the seeding, but the tournament. I think everyone here wants another method for seeding because the current seeding is too easy to manipulate -- not just with 100% win rate accounts, but specific accounts to achieve a certain position in the seeding to give the team the best advantage they can get. We will not be able to stop teams from discovering loopholes, but we can make it a lot harder for teams to do so.

Hence, we need a seeding that is at least a lot harder to manipulate, and also that the players with very few battles will not be rewarded that much in the seeding, so that the seeding becomes a lot more accurate in measuring one team's ability. A better fixed seeding however will cause another problem with being the teams seeded in the same position every time, and this is where we might want to incorporate a performance-based seeding alongside the fixed seeding during the season.

So I’ve just confirmed that my team will only be getting about 60% of the reward that we won because a few of our players happen to live in countries where their reward cannot be given.
I understand this was already in the regulations, but I was not made aware that their rewards would not payed at all. They should have been payed to either the rest of the team or the captain so they can be distributed ourselves amongst the players or that the team would at least get the full reward they’ve won.

By this logic, the winning team being Vietnamese, over 50% of Asia’s prize pool isn’t being awarded at all. Sorry to say but that’s kind of Stupid. Especially considering this wasn’t an issue in any of the previous tournaments, Now what are we supposed to tell the players? That they wasted 2 months for nothing?

"Due to local legal limitations, players who are residents of Vietnam, Hong Kong, Brazil and the Province of Quebec (Canada) are not eligible to win monetary prizes in this tournament. Players who are residents of Japan have to sign additional agreement to receive monetary prizes.

Money prize, won by the team in a Tournament, shall be paid by the Organizer of the Tournament to the Paypal accounts of each player made available by the Captain. Team Captain shall provide necessary information within one week from finishing the Tournament. Participating in the Tournament, all team players confirm that they accept and explicitly agree that the prize payable to their team shall be transferred to the details, specified by their Team Captain."
While it's clear that residents of Vietnam are not eligible to get the monetary prizes, it's not clear that this means the non-Vietnam players of the team won't get their share, as the regulations also state that the prizes will be handed out to the details specified by the team captain. If the team agrees to have all of their price money divided between the non-Vietnamese players and thus the team captain specified that that's how it should be paid out, shouldn't Wargaming follow that?

After all this time of doing tournaments two items have come up. 1- we should allow only 2 of any one type of tank in a tournament(7 ARL’s in T6 tourney happen all the time). 2- would love to see use Odd tier as top tiers in a tournament. This means tier 5, 7, & 9 would be top tier for a change. The even tiers have always been the tourney tiers but would be a nice change once in a while to offer odd tier set ups. Thanks.

T6 is played a lot. Saying nobody cares is friekin ignorant. Doesn’t matter what tier. T5 would be T1 Heavy, T7 would be annihilator. T8 is obj252u( our clan saw 7 of these last week in one match), T9 is probably the most balanced among tanks. T10 sees IS4 spam. The POINT is to provide a match that is a balance of all types of tanks, not just 7 annihilators strolling out against 7 more anni’s. Don’t be a dummy and act like you are above it all

Not going to lie, tier9 tournies would be epic to watch with so many varieties of tanks. Apart from the T95/Tortoise I doub't there is any bad tier9. Just think of the variety of strats and plays that will be done. Instead of tier8 Summer 252U Season which is based off relying on overpowered premiums. Why not try tier9 tournament, I don't see anything wrong with it nor will it bring any negative effects to the tournament scene. Tier9 is the most balanced tier imo, even the premiums are balanced. Not like tier10 where you have to run typical E5/IS4/Kran/ Vickers/T22 line ups.

Now I think about it, a lot of people were against weighted winrate seeding as it didnt reflect the players current ability and remained favourable to rerolls.

What if WG implemented a weighted 30 day Winrate seeding ?

This way skilled players with career 50% accounts dont get penalized, and players with 1 battle 100% winrate accounts dont recieve favourable matchmaking.

Additionally they could set the minimum amount of total team battles played within the month to 700 (100 per person excluding platoons) battles above t5 to avoid an entire team playing 1 t5 battle in the month and getting 100% 30 day winrate

the idea of 30 day winrate is only shifting the problem to the present and introduces a whole new basket of potential abuse methods. so rather trying to fix the problem on top of 30 day winrates, going tournament stats is the better way imo.

Do agree that tournament stats could be viable, but I dont see how the system I detailed could be abused with the measures I suggested. 1.) Minimum 100 solo battles to qualify for tourneys ( so that people dont do 1 battle a month to get 100% winrate 2.) Platoon battles dont count so solo players are not penalized and you cant boost winrate with op platoon.

Really the only weakness to this is people spamming Op tanks to gain Winrate advantages but I feel that after 100 battles, players would ultimately be deserving of their WR and this is a small flaw compared to abuse potential in other methods. Also tournament stats method would have to be carefully finetuned as due to the cooperative nature of tourneys, players might find themselves making decisions harmful to their personal performance to benefit their team. Additionally the tank you play (looking at u med players rn) greatly affects your stats and your teams performance could boost/hold you down.

Weighted 30 day WR isnt perfect but I cant see it being seriously abused, seems to me like the best option atm but happy to hear about other solutions

You cant force people to play is the issue I think, because some people ik wre at the top 8 level in cw, and they rarely play randoms, cus they enjoy cw over randoms, and they only really have time for the cw next to their jobs etc., nnot everyone is 12 year olds living in hotel mama where you dont have to do other stuff, and you can no life blitz every day
