I don't get it either, there is almost always crash issues, higher ping etc. in the game, also, releasing the new tank line right before the high level tournaments, what if it forces teams to quickly adapt to the tank being used, (which I don't think it will be that much), but why risk it, it could make teams rush for new tactics if it does influence the meta in such a matter

Tbh. We have a 5 year precedent of WG releasing meta breaking tanks/mechanics during or just before major tournament series. Or seriously nerfing the main meta.

2016: Encounter. Russian medium DPM.

All subsequent - Supremacy

2017: Russian heavies

2018: Mixed heavies/tds

2019: Progetto, fv215b, foch 155

2020: Mixed meta shifting from 2019 to e5 over 215b/ + atgms + kran + Vickers- - massive decline of tds

2021: let's see...

Basically. Expect every tournament season to be different and save up XP pre-season to be ready to adapt to the meta/new release/new nerf/new mechanic etc.

The only thing that is predictable is that everything is liable to change in a hard to predict manner.

Y'all have no reason to be surprised or unprepared anymore.

The meta tanks are used in tournaments because they are better. Player base plays them because they are better. I'd say that given the small audience of mostly experienced and competent players that follow tournaments in Blitz - that the tournament coverage doesn't promote the use of new meta tanks anymore than their newly introduced OPness does.

What I fail to understand is why wargaming chooses to release major updates in the middle of professional seasons every single time without fail. It happened in the last autumn season, it’s happening again now.
The season will be finished in half a week. Can you not just wait?
Every time WG does an update something goes wrong either with the servers or with the release timing and it ruins the Professional season. Not to mention releasing new tanks in the middle of the season changes the meta. Can’t you do it before or after the season so we can actually use the new tanks and adapt to the meta? It would seem like that’s common sense. Why make the same mistake every time then rush to find a fix.

It's not a first time issue for Asia.

Everytime updates have came out at like only 1-2 hours before the tournaments for Asia and it doesn't even work for all the platforms. I switched from Android to iOS and it's still not out on iOS. There's like 6 hours gap between EU and NA tournaments, they could release the updates at that time instead of screwing over Asia. It's already pretty known Asia servers are less maintained compared to others servers.

I understand that, tanks being released during the PYS/Ascent stage is fine as we can still experiment with the tanks then and decide whether they fit into the Meta. The actual Finals only last a week at most. I’m sure updates can be postponed for a day or two.
However that is only a secondary issue, it’s not that bad. The timings issue is obviously more important and it’s good that they postponed the tour to tomorrow. I just hope it doesn’t happen a 4th time now.

Regulations contain the very important rule:

All team participants should contain at the same clan from the moment of registration to the Tournament to the end of Tournament. In case of the violation of this Rule team will lose 50% of the prize fund for each stage for this Tournament.

Please make sure day by day that every player in your team contains in the same clan as your team has been registered. We don't like to punish for the rules violations but we have to do this in case when it happens.

We already have 2 violations of this rule on CIS server. Players of those teams are very upset but rules are working for all players without any exceptions.

As long as Dani is continued to be allowed to play and everyone on my team gets their avatars and tank (in the case of a top 3 finish) I'd be perfectly fine with a 50% reduction in other rewards. There were rules which by me unintentionally kicking Dani we broke. Now the reason why said player was accidentally kicked last night probably belongs in a ticket or somewhere else.

On the bright side halfway through our first appearance in a top tournament we seem to be checking all the boxes for things that you should Not do so it can only get better from here

If you want to see clans battling different teams, double elimination isn't the best idea. In a tournament with closely matched teams, round robin is better than double elimination imo.

Insane it really encourages me to continue attempting to play tournaments at a high level. No wonder NA comp struggles so much. The major competitive tournaments get bogged down with qts and retarded season coins tournaments. Then wr seeding and 100% accts squash the hopes of anyone that is new to the scene or has iffy acct stats. And then the in game rewards are taken from an entire team for the misconduct of one player. Thanks for the reply, my question now is where in the rules does it state that avatars are included in the 50% reduction? In the forum post including the rules and regulations of the challengers tournament the rule is very specific on the punishment stating:
“In case of the violation of this Rule team will lose 50% of the prize fund for each stage for this Tournament.”
The key wording I see is that the “prize fund for each stage is reduced”. With the wording of the rules the challengers avatar should not be included as it is not the reward of any individual stage of the tournament unlike the credit, gold, free xp, tank, or background rewards are; they are all rewards gifted by progressing to a new stage and as such should be reduced by 50% which I agree with.
The avatar on the other hand is given to every single participant of the tournament and is not awarded by any stage and as such should not be withheld from the prize fund.
Unless the WG tournament team has decided to change the rules during the middle of a major tournament I fail to see why the challengers avatar is included in the deducted rewards.

Also a shadow problem of penalizing the whole team for 1 Guy leaving is that you indirectly give power to players in the team over others.

For example, imagine a normal player X in Blitz but still a bit more nervous than normal
He Plays for a team, and during the season they have big fights and so on the Player X is really angry towards the other players in the team.
And because of your rule (or the way you apply it) the player X now has the power to decently punish every others team mates if he wants to

Player 1.

Player 1 is part of a Blitz tournament team. He is a good player but fairly new to the team. Happy to be a part of a great unit that made its way into his server's top 8 Championship Tournament!

Player 1 has spent A LOT of time training tournaments and participating in the PYS series in order to be part of the team at this top level stage. Now, one of Player 1's clan mates leaves/is kicked from the clan. Player 1 had nothing to do with this process. Hell - no one even talked to him about it before it happened.

Player 1 just read the message from Knopka, here, and found out he is getting 50% of any prize he might eventually earn.

Player 1 is really disappointed with this poor experience in Blitz tournaments and wishes he had kept playing League of Legends or another such game, rather than wasting so much time in Blitz.

Player 1 doesn't come back to Blitz tournaments and stops playing Blitz as much as a result.

I know I am opinionated - but come on WG, what the hell are you thinking penalising an entire team for the actions of a few individuals? This isn't a rigged game or match fixing or cheating - it's just a clan tag. Are you trying to grow or kill your tournament scene?

Every member of a team is responsible for what happens - Player 1 helps win games, without Player 1 they wouldn’t have won. On the other hand, Player 2 makes a big misplay and throws the game - without Player 2, they wouldn’t have lost the game. The same goes here - Player 3 violates the rules and compromises the team. Without Player 3 they would still have their rewards. It’s like saying how is it fair that all of Player 2’s team loses because Player 2 didn’t think before capping a base. I think the rules are already linked from the game news where there is an orange button that takes you to the forum post that lists the regulations. I think it is very clear from Wargaming at the beginning. Sadly, rules are rules and Wargaming has to unfortunately enforce them if there are violations.

Whether the rule and its subsequent punishment make any sense is another issue and is up for debate. I personally don't see a good reason that very harsh punishment is done on the violating teams. It might be good for us streamers not to be confused about players in a different clan in a team, and legally would clear the lines of giving rewards to a player not in the stated clan during the onset of the tournament stage (legitimacy). The slash in prize pool seems harsh and this violation is not as bad as some other violations in the rules.

Both teams are so closely matched and when you are following both teams closely, you can't tell in any shape or form that one team is ahead of the other. I think there are several factors as to why some commentators are "better" than others. While CW experience is a huge factor, the variation in tone, the delivery method, the presentation, the viewing experience, the camera work, the preparation work about the teams, the understanding of the tournament system etc. all take up a portion of what makes a good commentator.

It is similar to why good teachers are not necessarily the most qualified or why bad teachers are not necessarily the least knowledgeable.

I sincerely hope that Rolling and WG can step over their differences in the past and bend a bit towards each other - time will tell. I have followed Juicy in the recent streams while he did the Challenger's streams. He managed to provide good insights and is able to keep up with the pace of the matches and predicts where the action will be. Very interesting to hearing and watching him analysing the games, positions and alternatives during battles. On top of that his stream are of excellent technical quality. I believe he would be a great asset. Since I am very fond of diversity, I hope the other streamers and commentators will be kept on board as well.

When I started, I came from a tournament playing background and had more experience compared to the then commentators.

Before I left the CC program, I pushed anyone with a passion for commentary to WG.

Fugit, Fishy etc.

People that enjoy watching blitz esports are on the same side. Don't need divisions here. We have a common cause for making it bigger and more enjoyable.

The passion is what matters the most in my opinion, and I feel like neglecting or belittling streamers who have devoted in a lot of effort for their streams and commentaries is a bit of disrespect to them. Obviously, a good CW background helps with the commentary but I believe we should also help the passionate streamers in this respect as well for them to grow as both a presenter and a commentator.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes on the streaming side, its not just about turning up throwing a camera around and speaking (for some maybe but not all). We also devote a lot of time into how tours in general could be improved, be that rule changes or other things and do our best to interact with WG In facvt I would like to see more interaction between the clans/streamers on this point (maybe a discord server for CW?). We also want more streamers and we also want more exposure of the other tours, such as Challengers and we are looking at ways on how this can be effectively managed because everyone wants the big teams and the main event. Obviously I totally understand that the community favours particular streamers over others because that is human nature and we all have a favourite streamers/YT'ers but try to spare a thought to the rest of us because streaming the tours takes a lot out of us, especially when some of us stream multiple servers with different (sometimes horrid) time zones.

sure, but most of the money will be reinvested in the game. so why give them gold worth of 100 dollars, when the ppl will most likely buy things for the 60 dollars they received. in both cases they are +- 0. but in the 60 dollar case with the earlier option to make money again.
sorry cant describe it properly in eng, just my thoughts on it. but maybe its just that 60 dollars in real money is more of an incentive than ingame goodies.

No guarantee u spend 60 bucks back into the game, besides WG can make infinite gold out of thin air, it costs them nothing while 60 dollars to players means WG actually taking 60 out of their bank and paying it. See where you are coming from though, just thought I would rather have gold and it would be a nice gesture to offer money OR an amount of gold worth slightly more than the cash reward.
