2020 was the peak. Which makes sense because most people had literally nothing better to do. (Normally go out in your free time? Nope can’t do that. Like playing comp? Now you’ve got plenty of time to train). Its impossible to surpass 2020 levels without another crazy pandemic or something that puts people in a situation where no-lifing the game (which to be fair, isn’t their own fault) is the best use of their free time

For me, tournament gameplay has improved a lot since 2018 and I think nowadays the EU server has some of the best gameplays in the game's history (in that server at least), obviously helped by the influx of CIS region players

APAC probably peaked in 2021 overall but late-2023 top 4 games were some of the best I've ever seen from that region

Well the Chinese server exists

We only had 6 teams in 18/19 because them being 5th server meant brackets were awkward, so a wild card team from EU/RU became a thing because 6 teams was easier to make brackets for than 5

With RU out of the picture, you’re down to 4 actual servers. Just dump the wild card and make a 4 team twister like 16/17

Does the chinese client mirror the one used by NA/EU/APAC? iirc, the LESTA client has strv with speed boost, and amx mle with reactive. I personally dont know whether the chinese server has also deviated but if they haven't, then 16 teams would be pretty swell

Don’t worry. It would easily be 2 eu, 1 na and 1 Asia.

China has never been included in prior offlines and I would wager it doesn’t join now. The only other option would be 6 - 2 from eu/na/Asia or (and this would be asking for an awful lot) 8 teams with 3-4 eu, 2-3 na and 2 Asia

Eu combined with the remnants of cis has multiple times more players so the entries will more than likely reflect that

Unfortunate that in 2022-2023 NA one maybe could’ve argued 3 teams worthy for the off lines. Now it’s just …. 1?

You hav to remember how expensive offlines are. 7 people per team, which means 7 sets of flights, at least 4 hotels for 2-3 nights, shuttles, a dinner or two, gift bags and that’s just one team

Now multiply that by 4, 6 or 8 teams and add a $100-150k prize pool

Not to mention that at least 2 teams will be flying across continents

All together $150-250k for a 3-4 day event where the tournament lasts 4-5 hours

Well, you forget that WG does have the option to use crowdfunding and get the aid of potential sponsors if they really tried to make it possible. I don't see it as an impossible thing to accomplish considering WG is a very successful and large company with a lot connections. Not to mention their annual income

I completely agree. They’ve done a bunch before and they’re more than capable of doing it again. I guess my point is that it’s still a big expense for them when they don’t necessarily get anything back in return

However. If monetizing an offline would help make it more viable, than I would love to see team shirts for purchase online, each team gets a tier x camo for gold, clan support avatars, bring back the loading screen banners for your name (imo should never have stopped them)

Make another tier 8 tank with a tournament camo. Expand the tournament stream store to have more exclusive cosmetics

I think a lot of the success and longevity of some games comes from the esport scene being heavily developed, with sponsors , a lot of viewers and hype around the tournaments. This comes thru putting players and teams forwards so that viewers can relate better and promoting exclusive items and cosmetics.

A while ago I had the idea that each season should have an avatar top 8. Gold border for the winner, silver, bronze and then 4-8 get a different color. Each season the avatar color would change winter-teal, green-spring, yellow-summer, fall-orange. At the bottom would be the year. That way they’re collectible and anyone curious can just tap your profile and see how well someone did

Cosmetics would be huge because they’re the only thing to set tournament players apart from everyone else and since tournaments are the best place to show who the best of the best are, it seems perfect

I don't know if it's possible to compare Blitz to these other successful triple A games, but the professional scene of those games generate insane gains for the company itself. its actually really simple to fix gravity and have a much more playable mode. just stop it from lifting tanks off the ground

it already happens in 3 man toons where the other people suicide until they get 3 gravities. we do the same thing in response and guess what, both teams are now sitting in spawn playing grand finals with the gravities. fun and engaging game mode

I mean even if they reverted it to the way it used to be where you actually have to shoot where you want to place the grav would make it better, not by much but it would help slightly… even then the gravitational pull strength needs to be decreased so it doesn’t just simply sling tanks into oblivion

if the same amount of effort that was put in to pushing out crates, battle passes, camos, etc. was put in for this games comp scene, it would surely have grown a sizeable amount already that would garner a way bigger audience and the whole thing would be worth investing into more and more (even something as simple as just releasing more new top 8 top 4 camos every szn would motivate a lot of ppl to play and it surely wouldnt be that hard considering how new camos constantly come out in this game through crates, battlepasses, free events etc.)
