There are also rewards, top 10 gets gold. Top 200 on Asia get a free tank (t49 fearless). Top 400 gets parts for the tank, reaching diamond gives 40 parts. Wining battles gives tournament coins which can be used to buy tanks in the shop or additional bonuses.

He may not have cared about the percentage of victories before, but he is trying to make up for this in ranks

NA has a different mm compared to EU due to a low population size. With recent changes to the mm to speed up battles, if you can increase in points you will be matched with weaker opponents. This is because there’s less skilled players or top players online.

That means if you spam a broken or heavy armored tank and survive long enough, you will gain points on a loss. As you gain points you play against lower league players who don’t have the skill to deal with you if they aren’t playing another strong tank.

The player in the old mm would never have reached diamond. The old mm means you had to wait for a team of similar rating distribution.

Ever since matchmaker change, it hasn't been about who has the better skill, it's about who can abuse the point system and play the most battles now. And although it does help, it also pushes the previous ceiling for ratings to the moon and beyond

I like that waiting for battles is faster but I’m just farming silver/calibrating players at 6k.

Top 100 inflated from 5.9->6.2 but the amount of people who reached diamond went from 500->1400.

I think there needs to be a sort of balance so top players, diamond and platinum players aren’t consistently farming calibrating or silver/bronze players to speed up mm.

No because ratings is a unbalanced mode to begin with, after all the only skill is where you end up with how much time you invested to get there. Less time equals either more wins or abusing the ratings system, and the greater to number of battles one has in that spot could represent whatever "skill" this mode would have. This doesn't count op tanks or extremely strong ones

Ah, ok. My point still stands though, the exclusivity of the fearless vehicles are in jeopardy. Even if people aren’t playing it (the IS-6F, and likely soon to be Lorraine, and even the T49 with how easy it to get), there’s still a ton of them that are probably owned now. The point of the fearless tanks was to be a symbol of ratings “skill” (more like no-lifery), but if WG are selling it for coins then it strips away that symbolism. No one is taking their IS-6F out onto the battlefield because no one plays the IS-6. The fearless tanks may as well become legendary camouflages. Of course I’m exaggerating a little for dramatic effect, but my point should be clear.

I’ve thought about this and the 20k coins means you have to win 2000 diamond battles or get the t49 fearless twice. It’s still hard for regular people to achieve and you still have to play multiple seasons to get.

For perspective I still need 1.1k diamond wins for the animated avatar. But I can just get top 100 every 3 month season and collect 10k coins. To get 20k coins I need to wait for 7 months.

I don’t believe the fearless tanks should be available for coins at all, regardless of how much it is, because at the end of the day the Fearless tag should (ideally) be a symbol of skill (although currently it’s just who can no-life harder), not accessible through grinding over months. After all, who’s buying the IS-6F for 20k coins because they want the IS-6? No one.

I don’t typically like being prejudice against “worse” players, but <50% players shouldn’t be getting the Fearless vehicles without improving first. Nothing distinguishes who is buying it in terms of skill, it could be a 45% player who spent 7-8 months grinding ratings, or a 60% player who spent 6-7 months. Regardless, it’s equally accessible— which is a problem when a symbol is representative of an exclusive prowess. Imagine if a mediocre athlete competed a massive amount of times and would get handed an Olympic gold medal, it would ruin the significance of the gold medal. The same goes for the fearless tanks, or at least it should (although ratings has always just been who can no-life, and not a true representation of skill, but this is a problem for another time). I’m not trying to say that better players should have exclusive rights to certain vehicles (any player should be able to get the regular IS-6, Lorraine, and T49, or any vehicle added in the future), but rather the symbol of the Fearless vehicles be sustained.

Platoons in rating will clearly result in more unsporting behavior. E.g. 2 strong players, a focus player and a wing man. Wing man calibrates low on purpose and uses solo battles to keep rating down. When they are in platoon, they will always be rated way under actual strength. And during platoon games, wing man will always sacrifice himself for the focus player and probably even try to shield other teammates from getting dmg or kills all in favor of the focus player.

Wargaming you need to fix how elo works in this game. Why do low ranked players lose more elo than high ranked players. There's no incentive to carry just spam as many games as possible. Once you reach a certain elo its hard to drop even if you do bad. Case in point @vale wasp

Ratings should be individual. Platoons in ratings will ruin that. If you want to rate platoons, make a 2v2 rating mode and let those who want to be rated as a platoon do that without ruining rating for individuals.

Ratings will not be ruined by platoons. As a matter of fact it's already ruined since the rewarding of the "best" player on the losing team. This decision developed a parasitic style of game that grew like a cancer in Ratings. More than ever there are players camping to farm kills and do some damage and not actively helping the team win. They hide and run so they are full health at the end and can take advantage of weaker reds to get the positive points. They actually manipulate the game so they can profit from defeat. Either, every player should be analyzed individually and the win/lose just be a tiny factor for rating, or scrap this change completely. Platoons will give you at least a trustworthy team member.

No doubt, platoons will be fun for those who play in the platoon. I am thinking about the 5 players who have their game ruined by the private team inside the team. I am 6k+ and most likely the platoons I will get are clowns or trolls. I have so many regular games ruined by platoons and with this I cannot even escape this by playing rating.
The best argument for implementing this is like yours: rating is already ruined.
But this will just ruin it for the rest of us.

But your games are already ruined by the clowns and trolls. They don't need to be in a platoon to damage the game. They are already 4 or 5 in each team every game and being in a platoon won't make a difference. Every time I check my team at the end, 3 or 4 are players with 1000 games or less and even then they have 45%wr when they are playing just against bots in regular games! Those clowns you mention will be ruining the red team next game. And you may actually get a good platoon which will give you 2 extra trustworthy players on your team. I've been playing games where the rating inside the team ranges from 6k/5k to as low as 2.5k. There's no way to escape trolls and bots because of low number of players even in Europe (where I am). Maybe platoons will bring more players to Ratings and help balance the teams more.

It will be less balanced because each players rating will not reflect their personal skill for frequent platoon players. Just like you can't compare WR for players who plays mainly solo to those who mostly plays in platoons. 2 60%'ers in platoon becomes 80%'ers 2 40%'ers becomes 20%'ers. 2 60%'s in platoon (assuming discord and used to playing with each other) will win 60+% vs 2 individual 60%'ers.
But clearly if you have a strong regular platoon mate, you will want to platoon in rating as it will give you 500 points more than you would get alone.

If MM is going to compensate for this, it will be imposible to create matches.

If the rating of each platoon member is analyzed as if they are 2 separate players, all the MM needs to do is to find 2 equivalent individual players in terms of rating for the other team, or two that match the average of that platoon rating as it does now. I don't think it's necessary for the MM to match 2 platoons with equal ratings since for individual players it doesn't.

Just explained why. 2 players in platoon with voice connection and who knows each other will be much stronger than 2 individual players with exactly the same skills. Rating makes no sense when players are not rated on the same terms.
Anyway, I already have the have the T-49, so I can just take a break from rating until WG (hopefully) finds out how much more unsporting behavior this will bring and bring it back to all competing on even terms. As I wrote before: for those who want rating as a team could have a 2v2 rating season.

I have been playing and I've seen some horrible teams so as I said before I can't see Ratings getting worse. One of my teams I was the best player with 1100dmg on an IS. I know, terrible game. But the second made 600 dmg (T8 Yoh) and the rest was even worse than that all scoring 1 shot each. Later, a red team had an Action X with 1700dmg, the second 700 and the last 2 wit zero damage. Rating is already a sewer, so I can see a possible improvement because it's hard to get worse.

You will have to go up against sweaty toons if you solo or toon. This forces you to have to toon to make a difference.

With the new changes in mm, you can have a bronze/silver platoon on your team even though you’re a top player.

Toons will just increase toxicity whereas the current experience allows for some randomization.

If ratings had a ton of people playing I can see toons being viable. With the decreasing player size, toons will be abused as it doesn’t affect your stats.

Either way the people have voted and when toons are released I will “adapt” to the changes.

Also just make it 3 man platoon at this point too.

I won my last game on Tier 10. Four of my team made less than 2000 damage and one of them only 300. All got positive rating and the worst one was rewarded with +9 despite doing nothing for the team. Yet, on the red team the best player got -4 despite making 2300 damage which would make him the 3rd of my team. The second red got positive rating, but their 3rd was better than the 4th of my team and got minus rating, and so on.

Why aren't all players rated on their actual individual performance and not be punished because they lost due to 3 or 4 bad players? Maybe give a little + or - based on wining or losing, but make it a minor thing.

Just like giving negative rating to 2 or 3 of the wining team if they didn't met the minimum. Maybe, eventually count a little for the win/loss perhaps.

Had a similar situation, enemy focused me and I died, had 2 teammates against a 10hp Kran. Sheridan a 2 shot hugs next to low health Jag, Sheridan had full map to relocate because the kran was pinned by the Jag, could’ve even stop base points. Sheridan doesn’t relocate, plays ring around the Rosie with Kran, fails to aim shot, dies to Kran, lose on supremacy point. Me who died 3 mins ago watching them play, got points.

Also had the audacity to call me bad. I could’ve easily won that. 2k point difference too.

Yeah I had to change my playstyle from farming xp to supporting my “teammates” and their questionable decision making. I get less points per battle but at least the team has a chance to win.

You have to think from WG perspective. They want you to use all the sides of the map, not just the places that you can farm the most dmg/xp from. Each map has a meta and WG can do a few changes to disrupt that.

@zeknay streams rating battles with a 20-second delay and also complains about his rating. If I were streaming, my delay would be 7 minutes. This genius believes that [DEMOH] skates together, although 2-3 people from my clan play in the rating. I am for fair play and regularly report violations, I always follow the rules of the game and advise you to follow them too. Let the violators be punished.
This is not the first time I’ve taken top 1 in the rankings and I don’t need fixed fights for this.

This is obvious, but players can choose priority targets in battle. This is not prohibited by the rules of the game.
But propping up allied tanks, displacing them from positions under enemies or pacifism is a violation.
In any case, I have always been against unsportsmanlike behavior and, as I already said, let the violators be punished.
Also, if you show me violators from my clan, I can expel them from the clan for such behavior.

It's not all about damage though so that's a bad idea imo, someone who does more spotting and assisting the team as well as capping bases could earn points on a loss so the campers who just outlast everyone don't always win

That's a fair point but logically if there are 10000 complaints about a certain clan/individual from a clan it should be a good starting point to realise that something isn't completely alright. Many players who know me from the game understand that I always follow the rules of the game and do not break them. You can't be responsible for all the people in your city, can you?
It's the same with the clan.
In many top clans there are violators and I am against them, there are a lot of examples with an average damage per account of 10k+ and I am against this behavior.

For an example you get 100 xp for your first kill. Then remaining kills give 50 xp. So your third kill is 200 xp or double xp of first kill.

The only reason ratings was bearable for me was I mainly watched youtube. My day was not to look forward to winning matches, it was to watch youtube and play a few "top ranked" games

When I was second, it was 45-60 mins a battle. I would do homework, write research papers, make study guides and review them daily so I didn’t have to prepare hard for exams. I would turn up the volume while I was cooking dinner, or showering. The best part was I was in a different time zone so ratings finished early and I could sleep early too.

The price to pay for 5 min 6k rating points fast queues. At least u can take advantage of the bad ratings system even better

It’s good if you want points, but rigged if you want wins.

To fix it they need two conditions:

Equal amount of 6k and 5k players on both teams. (This will take a hit on speed but provide more balance which I’m fine with)

Calibration players should not have diamond players on their team. They should have a tighter range like the old mm because people on average calibrate silver to platinum and the majority of the population are in this leagues. It makes no sense to use calibrating players to speed up a top players game because their skill level is undefined.
