So tl;dr - Both planes mentioned are currently some of the most valuable machines the west has to offer, considering they are the only ones having stealth capablities over the Eurofighter, Rafale etc. probably even the Crown Jewels. Now with the tension between China and the western world you can guess what kind of statement it is that a company as large as Honeywell with their fingers in national weapon contracts and classified prototypes has leaked/sold parts of said classified documents to China and China suddenly building very similar fighters... well think for yourself

I suspect that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

like think about how the nations that aim to buy F-35s to replace older machines with the intention to keep the upperhand in the arms race against "the glaring east" might think now that their product of choice is sold/shared to china which is one of the biggest threats right now and known for a ton of espionage "effery"

The true advance that the F-35 brings is it’s sensor fusion and situational awareness to the warfighter. While the airframe is still immensely important I’m hopeful that the details behind the radar, avionics, and sensor fusion are still a secret. Honestly as an airframe alone the F-35 is kind of a disappointment.

It’s a compromise airframe like the F-111 or F/A-18.

Only the big compromise here is making space for that lift fan and then cutting weight to achieve STOVL capability.

lets be real, china has been known for their espionage tactics by buying themselves into companys and then legally taking over what they produced just to copy it in china and sell it for a quarter of the price, or sending in workforce that acts as industry spies. There is a influx of chinese people undermining on LinkedIn where they act as interests and promote chinese companys etc. to later lure in workers from that company to send them details for money.

There is no doubt that china has a history of… questionable actions.

But it’s probably best not to dive down that rabbit hole here.

imma be honest, we went the germany ww2 route in aviation - F22 the pinnacle, only built in shy 200 units. - america and russia didnt win the war because their weaponry was to exceptionally great, they had the numbers.
a fast easy to maintain and thus cheap jet with great weaponry would be a way better approach than a luxus fighter imo.

weapons are so advanced you cant even be sure that a F22 will survive many encounters with similarly new opponents that come in greater number
