Technology moves fast, but plenty of devices are quite capable versus over spending on something high end or top of the line. When it comes to PC, as devices last longer capability wise, one of the things to keep in mind, looking for something you will buy in the future; is whether the system will be guaranteed to run windows 11, so you can benefit from updates and the latest windows security patches well into the future. Unless you are happy with a few years of windows 10 support, and third party security things ... and/or will buy another device when the time comes. Or maybe win 11 systems will be mainstream by the time you are making a purchase.

Windows 10 will likely be supported well into the future. If I‘m not mistaken even Windows 8.1 is still supported by Microsoft. That being said, Windows 10 will receive support until the 14th of October 2025 so if you plan extremely long term for your PC (basically anything that goes beyond four years from this point on) then you should look for something Windows 11 compatible. Though, to be honest, if you want something that is still viable in four years then it is likely to be Windows 11 compatible anyways

I have no idea if win 11 will be any good in practice or is just basically 10.2 or 10.5. I have yet to really like win 10. Previews seem to show it fixes a bunch of dislikes about win 10. But, none of the systems I am around will run 11, as they're all a couple years old and I mostly use apple stuff myself.
Anyhow whenever somebody now says what will this be a good computer for the next few years, or has to save money for a future purchase and doesn't have the ability or desire to switch computers every two years ... I would say, keep in mind that you may like something that will be win 11 ready / compatible ... it will be recent hardware, not some system with older specs that you regret buying ... just my 0.02
