Currently, I love being outside and am quite fond of school bio/chem/es courses... and everything from a singular insect to a grand-er scope of populations and evolution...what if I end up disliking it in college? What would I do? Trying new things sounds fun but what if I end up going nowhere and getting lost in the world? It's quite scary now that I think about it and I'm really sorry if it sounds like a rant, but yes, this is how my brain works :3

A long time has passed, and I can very vividly remember the " hoge school " that I went to, and how they failed the vast majority of students ... with a few teachers/professors who pulled some serious crap at exam time.

For one re-exam I was given a specific subject to study over the summer ... read, studied, etc ... I enter the verbal exam. Well, since you have studied " X " I am not going to ask you anything about that ... so what do you know about " Y " ... ok, let me give you 10 random terms.

And I was top 15 of my class ... hits very hard to be treated that way.

No way one could have answered anything substantial unless you were an educated veteran in the field ... with like 25 years of experience.

I would not rush exams, at all, even if I knew the subject like the back of my hand.

On a different educational track, I had it backfire.

I was the most experienced and informed when it came to one particular class ... let's say 1/24th of the whole course for the year ... I was tested and graded like a super unicum. Even with 100 % correct answers. Reason: expected more or whatever ...

Educational Disparity is pretty massive in some areas. There is this one public school district in my city that ran a 13B dollar deficit. however, also has the best high school/secondary school in the STATE.

Luckily for me, i was taught well starting Grade 3, i caught up and began exeeding expectations of my teachers and parents. But i admittly took easier class, even though i was told i was in advanced classes...

now my school district is beginning a major project.

5 of 9 schools will be rebuilt, the only High School in the district will receive full A/C coverage and an expanded parking lot.

Since the school district needs to levy for money, they only proposed a motion to commence the rebuilding of the district, to make it more compliant, modern, and up to date. Since all of the schools slated for reconstruction were built in the 1940s-1960s.

With the help of my state, with their funding. People in the district don't need to pay a dime.

They run an expenditure bill of ~$75 to $80 Million

I was told how far the bar was set, which set at a 75% or better. Not the best, but not the worst. I didn't bother to compete with the top performers of my class of 630 some students. If i passed, i passed. If i failed, i failed. (I didn't fail a course)

But if the student doesn't know the bar, then how will they know how much effort to put in? Innaccurately performing isn't great in the American System, but unfortunately, it is becoming a common problem

Wow thats a huge deficit. A big factor is also the teachers. Not the ones that inflate your gpa but the ones that genuinely care about building their students up for success. Adding insult to injury, lots of public school teachers are underpaid which is counterintuitive if schools want to attract/retain quality instructors.
And of course we have uni presidents that spend hundreds of thousand on their offices and people who advocate the defunding of colleges

UT1 Not to bash WG, could have been rushed and alot of ideas that were tossed in and did not receive a positive outlook

atleast throughout Ut1, they did alot of surveys and gathered alot of info from the tests and began fixing the issues

UT2 felt like a continuation of UT1 but with some UI changes, commanders changed, optimization was adjusted and visuals of maps were adjusted too

and some of the bugs were removed and dealt with

UT3 removed commanders and brought back alot of the current blitz content, making the game have the same identity, I believe this was when they changed the sets to feel like the tech tree we have too

UT4 was a major improvement, only issue I have ever had is the optimization with maps, sometimes my FPS drops, the revamped rockfield felt optimized and was very smooth to play on. other than that. I have no complaints and im looking forward to UT5

Quite good all round tire, imo; though we minimize driving my wife’s car in bad weather and park it for most of the winter, unless it is a nice cold sunny day without salt and melting snow on the road.

I do find the rears ( RWD vehicle ) wear down a good bit faster than I want. As in half the life of the fronts, last time around.

Maybe the all season compound is a bit delicate in the hot summers? And / or it really is down to my wife’s pedal use. My feet are quite a bit bigger, but I drive with a much lighter foot 😅

Anyhow, as a lifelong Michelin fan, I would be hard pressed to not to use them … unless another brand and model was super highly recommended and objectively reviewed as better.

Thanks for that! I had an internship with Bridgestone Americas a few summers ago and one of the perks was 50% off all tires besides like the extreme race tires that cost like $500 each lol. So at that point I went all in on new wheels and one of their strongest summer tires, Potenza Sport S(ummer).

That tire was supposed to be a slightly cheaper alternative to the PS4S from Michelin capable of the same purposes but just a hair worse in several regards and tread seems to last a bit less. Loved those tires though, they handled Tail of the Dragon like a CHAMP outshining a well set up S2000 lol

But now that they are bald (you can say I’ve gotten every penny out of them🤣) I wanted new tires, but I don’t want to “re-learn” how the car handles so that’s why I picked PS4S lol. That eases my mind quite a bit!

They tried selling me on the Indyhawk 500’s from Firestone but they have poor cornering ability. Extreme contacts are good but again their sidewalls aren’t as stable under high load cornering from what I’ve noticed with a few of my friends’ cars

I'm sure all the brands do their research and have their pros and cons.
Michelin only disappointed me one time, decades ago, and it was with a set of tires that I guess could not quite get balanced combined with also an engine mount vibration at a certain rpm & speed, which happened to be like 49 mph that was very commonly driven where we lived. Kept chasing it with the dealerships, until we were sent to an indy shop; and the old owner quickly said : I think there was a recall on those last year. Sure enough. New set of Michelins and then it was down to that vibration ... which turned out to be a systemic issue with the vehicle. We observed it in rental cars and test driving a several year newer model a few years later.

Anyhow. I have no qualms with the Michelin Pilot Sports ... and if we had a vehicle that came with something else; and that was the recommended Michelin tire. I would go for those.

I think there's only been one exception where I did not switch out OEM " off brand " to Michelin, after whatever the original tires lasted 30k 25k 20k where I deemed them necessary to be replaced for safe driving in downpoors and winter.

And that was for my previous cargo van, where Falken came super high recommended from owners on the forum, and I saved a bit of money; also knowing there was a high chance I was going to change vehicles before too long.

The OEM Hankooks did not even last 24k, and even got me stuck in my own garden a few times, ... and rather than my first choice Michelin Defender; I opted for Falken WildPeak ... then traded up vehicles a year or so later.

It’s really incredible how a good set of tires can connect the driver to the feeling of the car because there is a designated “right” and “wrong” feeling, or able to tell how the life of the tire holds up compared to really cheap offbrand tires! I had Yokohama all seasons on the car when I got it brand new (new to me) but was the tire the car came from factory with, was decent tire for being the mid level package. But then I got hankooks and it was the worst experience ever. Felt like I was going to slide the moment 5 raindrops hits the ground. Tried out Goodyear Eagle all seasons when I bought this car… my second TL, an exact clone to my first one before I wrecked🤣… and was not impressed, but then again it came on 225’s so that’s a rubber band

I have Defenders on our SUV. Mostly on road use; lots of rain storms; long winters with some road snow and what not ... but if there's a blizzard I tend to stay home ... and I don't go skiing so; can't say hey; these are great winter tires .... nothing will beat a dedicated winter tire with studs ... if you live in the mountains, scandinavia etc.

But, yeah, to me reputable and good tires are a top priority. They are what keeps you in contact with the road. They are what gives you traction, helps you turn, stop, react.

My previous van came with Hankooks ... got stuck in my back yard on a forest path basically, in my front yard on wet grass ... never again! Which is why I got the Falken WildPeaks ... 3 peak mountain snow rated and a bit more off pavement pattern.

My current van has Krugen something. They've done great in snow; but are starting to dry rot at one year old ! Forget about mfr warranty. Must buy the same tires and mail the old ones in before they will determine IF and how much they will reimburse ... and since they're OEM tires. Good luck.

1000%. I have studless Bridgestone Blizzaks, again bought them during my internship at discount lol, but WOW have they impressed me. They have polymer “studs” on the treads that stiffen up around 20°F and make an impact on an icy road at a reasonable speed I found but it’s not a true stud it’s just to give extra traction per conditions. For bring a big heavy FWD car with those on, and square setup in case I need to swap rears for fronts, thing absolutely plows… I love seeing Subaru glazers say “AWD is everything” but then put the worst tires possible on and get stuck on my way to the local ski resorts 🤣 but this ain’t some magical Toyota 4Runner… that’s a beast of a vehicle on snows, my dad had one on lease when I just got my license in high school and it was my car to use. Best car for Boy Scouts trips too lol

One should try a RWD drive Jeep on " off road " summer tires ... in a New England winter with some snow & ice. I often couldn't get up the shallow pitch driveway, and only trusted it to go to the post office on a warm sunny day. We inhereted it. Brought it up North to use as a second car. Within a few weeks I just parked it and left it for two three months.

It was scary bad with any winter stuff on the ground.

I thought the tire profile would have stood for something ... but with the RWD ... nope.

Yeah I noticed that with these tires especially pending frequent load or flex on sidewall induces cracking earlier than a new tire, but if that’s brand new that’s manufactured defect

Something I learned in industry since I was in the R&D department, is that pretty much for all tire companies that the best quality compounds of one year’s tire becomes the midgrade-available compound a few years later. Of course I won’t disclose any trade secret or NDA breach here, but to put it this way:
Bridgestone RE71 RS are high level summer performance (light track) and Potenza Sport S is summer performance (street ready). After a few years the compounds found in the RE71RS sift their way into newer manufacturing of the Potenzas BUT that means new compound is on the block; for Bridgestone that would be the RE71 RZ and Michelin now has the Pilot Sport S5

Which, in rare cases, means that the new adaptation could hinder tire performance or life even tho it’s meant to make it better. Such as sidewall + tread joining may be weak, or sidewall rigidity may flux, etc

I have seen the example of expensive cars or very capable cars on cheap tires many a time. And to me, really, I would only ever do it on an around town car that is not going to really see severe weather.
But, as it stands; long distance travel is frequent. So, I want safety, at highway and interstate speeds, keep traction at a manageable speed during severe rain storms, hurricanes, ... and be ready to go for another 5k - 10k miles at a moments notice. Without looking at the wear bars.

The van's Krugens will probably have me running around chasing reviews and input; as it will have to be commercial tire. Just trying to get some more miles out of them for now.

Exactly! It really is sad in my local area they don’t really regulate tread depth because we don’t do Smog checks nor inspection… which is good for me since the catalytic converters got taken off by me someone with a mask🤣 but we have tons of hills here on the highways and even main roads, but people say “it’s okay for me to have bad tires here, they are expensive… anyways I’m buying my daily $16 Starbucks order!” And nearly cause accidents sliding. I tried running on snow with my Potenzas with low tread and I legit nearly crashed the car trying to brake from 20mph going down my street💀 if it’s somewhere like southern USA where snow isn’t as frequent you could get away with it, but rust belt and up we all need the right tires!

Another one that gets me a little, is people who want aftermarket rims - nothing wrong with that - but then put cheap rubber on them ... or they put such rims on the vehicle that it means a lot less vertical height on the rubber; worsening the ride significantly.

So, maybe don't spend on fancy rims but invest in good rubber?

At least that's how my practical mind thinks 🙂

100% when I’ve gone to car shows I see people with “rep” style wheels and I think to myself “wow he cheated out” but then I take a closer look and it’s a high performance 200 tread wear summer tire and then I eat my own words. that I can respect far more than someone driving on WORK meister’s on Linglong Tires, which I have Also seen and might have a picture deep in my camera roll😭

That’s why I went with the wheels I did, Enkei Raijins are from a quality brand, lightweight, stylish (my opinion I love split-7/8 Y spoke wheels), and not too expensive. But it’s always people who clout chase for the right wheel before the right tire

I always told my buddies, buy the right tire and find a rep wheel in the same spec as the “real” wheel you want down the road… and if the tire still has life to it and the new wheel has the exact same specs you could always put that good tire onto the new wheel and get best of both worlds!

That’s also why I changed to EBC slotted rotors and EBC yellowstuff pads

2 years ago on Tail of the dragon I smoked my brakes up after the 2nd run… which included the 1 hour break between the two runs LOL. Warped the crap out of them. Stock suspension, stock (essentially minivan) brakes, 225 wide Goodyear Eagle AS tires… just knew I needed the whole overhaul

So then last year it was Potenza tires, the same braking setup I mentioned + DOT4 fluid & stainless steel lines, plus BC racing coilovers (almost went with Fortune Auto for $500 more but I decided this is a daily car and I need money to put towards a true fun car/ second car).

As a young lad, I grew up wanting a sporty car; then drove a Seat Ibiza; the equivalent of a VW Golf. Since then it has been a lot of minivans, some SUVs ( long winters & towing ) and vans. For practical reasons. Fortunately my wife wants a sporty car; so when I drive it around a bit; I get my little car fix.

This is my final message

I spent way too much of my time gaming, spending money, neglecting people and things i care about, and succumbed to other pretty nasty addictions that ruined my life, and today it finally snapped.

My social life is messed up, and i dont even feel attracted to pretty girls anymore, and some of them deserve more attention than what i can give, all because of another common addiction.

My phone is full of this, and im just a normal guy who likes boxing and forgot to get into rock climbing, plays the guitar and has been playing roblox, world of tanks blitz, JC4, Fortnite, KCD, Minecraft, Shadow Fight 2 instead of living his life.

I enjoyed this game and its community, but its time to move on and set myself free of these addictions.

I thought of declaring that this accounts user is dead, but that seemed wrong and too betraying.

I deserve more than tapping a friggin screen all day and raging over trolls.
