Gold ammo or "premium ammo" is the second type of munitions you can use in your tanks.
It has different specifications as your regular ammo.
Most of the time it has more penetration to help you shoot armored tanks.

I noticed on your screenshot of your T43 that you only had 2 types of ammo loaded.
Regular ammo and High Explosive (HE) ammo.
You can buy gold ammo on your tanks to help you pen more tanks.
If this ammo is called "gold" or "premium" it is because it is expensive.

You gotta use it carefully.

You could load just a few of them to save you in extreme cases.
If you dont use it, it wont cost you anything (except the initial price)
In this case it is the APCR

If you compare the APCR stats to the regular ammo, you will notice it has more penetration but a little bit less damage
