Tier V already has the crews fully trained, after you get to Tier VI, the tanks would start in 50% crew mastery and you would have to grind crew exp to increase it. Tank's soft stats would improve as the crew mastery percentage increases.

And sadly + frustratingly enough WG does not separate out ratings battles from public stats for WR etc.

One can run into people with 1 (ONE ) public battle, 100% WR, bad mouth ... and very average (cough cough) performance in ratings ... but hey, they have 100% WR ... with 1000 battles, which are 999 ratings battles. 🤷‍♂️
Maybe some day it will get fixed ...

I emailed Wargaming support, they got back to me saying "Sorry, there's no way we can change it back." Total BS. Of course they can change it back, all they have to do is roll back the changes in software. At the very least they should make an option "ENABLE HD AUDIO" in the Settings so that the 95% users who aren't making stupid complaints about "the audio is too strong for my $3 ebay headphones" don't have to suffer through this new crap gun noise.

Didn’t win…. There was never a competition. The powers that be simply said we are buying the Super Hornet. There should have been a fly off but they got around it by saying the Super Hornet was a upgrade of a existing the plane despite the fact it was nearly an entirely new aircraft

that being said I don't know that NAVAIR would have survived a true fly-off. They had really screwed up their acquisitions in the late 80's / 90's and were desperate for airplanes. They had to get something or all they would have had was a bunch of worn out Tomcats, Intruders, and Hornets.

Compromises had to be made to get one platform to replace two platforms and fall withing the cost that the Navy could afford. So high speed and long range strike were removed from the requirements. The Tomcat 21 could have filled the roll better but it would have also been more expensive. Not only for the aircraft but for the support of the aircraft. This isn't even taking into account the cost of having a second crewman. The Navy went with the most cost effective option.

The F-35... It only took us 13 years longer and billions more than it should have but it is turning into a real winner. The avionics and data fusion that it brings are astounding. From all accounts the pilots that fly it love it. Even former Raptor pilots have said that if they had to go to war they would want to do it in the F-35.

My biggest issue with the F-35 is the limitations that were placed on the all three variants by the requirement for STOVL on the B. That requirement pretty much set the dimensions and performance capabilities for all three planes. I think a F-35 that had been designed without those restraints would be a overall more capable aircraft.

On the topic of dogfighting I suspect that F-35 is better at it than folks are willing to admit. That story about it fighting the F-16 were kind of dishonest. I've seen it do some maneuvers that are pretty impressive. Add on the capability of the AIM-9X and you have a plane that I definitely wouldn't want to get close to.

Also points out that modern historical record demonstrates that the vast majority of modern dogfights occur at or below 1.2 mach.

I think the STOVL trade-off is probably an excellent one, allowing this bad-ass aircraft to be put into service almost anywhere, in very small conflicts, running on Marine Corps short-runway jump ships etc.

I completely disagree. I think that STOVL is a capability that was last used operationally in 1991 and frankly is a waste of money considering the money we have put into it. It was used effectively in the Falklands but that was because the British simply had no other choice.

The logistics footprint that is involved in operating a F-35 is huge. This will limit where it can effectively be used.

I guess my thought about STOVL in a strike aircraft like this is that it enables a couple of these to be launched off a small/short Marine Corps carrier anywhere in the world, w/ very fast & stealthy penetration way farther in to a conflict zone (say, any number of possible terrorist hide-out areas) than with, say, Blackhawk helicopters. Without having to have an attention-grabbing full-sized carrier group.

In any upcoming battle with a near peer adversary distance is life. The closer you get the less reaction time you have to a threat. The farther you are, the harder you are to find. The farther away you are the more attack options you have.

If you are fighting a threat where you can forward deploy, the F-35 is probably overkill for the task at hand. You'd be better off with attack helicopters or something like that hideous looking Sky Warden the USAF is buying.

Masteries are by XP ... and whatever the player base did in the past 7 days.

Spot a few tanks, track a few ... and you benefit from the damage that your team does to those targets.

And you could just accidentally be more forward in the center of the map, or on the heavy side of the map, and not realize that you are spotting your own targets, etc
