Its definetly not worth to spend for over hundreds of dollars for a tank, even only watching daily ads could get you a premium tank of your choice after awhile. And you can get free Tier VIII tanks on some events, like in the 2020 Autumn Tourney lockboxes.

But the golds the player bought to get the event currency could be used on other stuff

It's their choice to spend how they want since it's theirs. But imo just spending hundreds of dollars in a game on one go are pretty ridiculous, unless if you have a job and you can manage your spending.

No, tier ten has very good tech tree tanks. Same for all tiers really. Saying the game is p2w is kind of stupid. Tier eight is flooded with premiums though so that can be annoying, but still plenty of good tech tree tanks.

Anyway, I saw someone chat about the patent, but yeah the patent is real. People have known about it for years.

That said, I don't think anyone actually reads the patent. Something that most people don't realize is that the patent is not making more difficult matches based on player skill on either side.

What the patent describes is using battle level to increase or decrease difficulty. Battle level is actually the range of tiers allowed into a battle.

In modern Blitz, this is pretty much irrelevant, since our MM is just +1/-1. So, in Blitz, a battle level 7 game for instance will allow tanks of tier 7 and 8, a battle level 8 game allows tanks of tier 8 and 9, etc... However back when this patent was made/applied for it was for WoT PC when you had crazy stuff like the tier 4 VK 16.02 Leopard able to meet tier 10s, so the assigned battle level actually did make something of an impact

Basically, the patent says that if you win a lot, you might get made lower tier more often, and vice versa. Rigged? Maybe. But not in the way that people think it's rigged

It's badly worded, but it's referring to old premium preferential matchmaking. For example, IS-6 and Type 59 could never see tier 10s back during +2/-2

Also, Pz B2 and Valentine II still have it lol. They will never meet tier 5 and will always be top tier

I don’t understand the writing in the patent to be quite honest, but the bit about better MM early on in a tank seems to be taken for granted, although I’m not sure where it comes from? It certainly seems to ring true, I always thought it was just my skill in a tank getting worse, maybe cause I’m overthinking the playstyle after playing it a bit, which may be the case. But a lot of my new tanks I’ll do super well in, I’ll think it suits me perfectly, then after a number of battles things will just drop off, stats will get worse, and it’s impossible to get them back to the honeymoon stage so to speak

It's what we call "honeymoon matchmaking". Your first couple battles in a tank, you'll never be bottom tier. It's not very many though, just a small handful

Interesting, but that’s pretty darn bad, in that it shows they do stuff around with the MM in some form. This may not be revolutionary stuff, but I guess cause I’m ignorant it seems pretty big to me. Also, I know this is purely just personal experience, and you’d need lots of data to actually know for certain, but it seems to be for a fair few battles, I get to 20-50 sort of area performing really well, then have a bad session and ruin them completely, which of course could be just luck. Seems to be a common phenomenon though?

Don’t know about this whole thing tbh, I’m very intrigued, but I’m not committed either way, would want a fair bit of evidence that I can understand. Definitely want to get a clear answer in my mind though, would be insane if battles are rigged like some say, I’ve always contended strongly that it’s definitely random. Bit stunning to realise they do stuff around with MM a bit though, like the honeymoon stage of a tank is apparently well accepted (first few battles you get put top tier), which is pretty dam bad, artificially mucking around with chances to win, shows they could be doing it in other areas. Doesn’t prove anything at all of course

Yes, and I’m not at all naturally inclined to go searching for reasons to blame the MM, I’ve always said that you’re the main factor in whether you win, MM is random, you’ll get win streaks and loss streaks, doesn’t mean too much. I’m a bit intrigued by this whole thing though. I had no idea about the honeymoon period, imo that’s really really bad, it shows they’re willing to stuff around with MM basically and artificially help you. Preferential MM for prems is a simple and above-board thing, there’s no issue with that
