u r not supposed to be able to play every tank on every map. it is not meant to be that way. Eg. dead rail is a snipers haven but harder for tanks without gun depression. u can still succeed in them tho. it just takes more skill

I thibk castilla could work better with the ridges at spawn removed so you have to move to camp. Then less of the map is locked down by campers without them losing all of their effectiveness and the meds will have better cover from the church
People already move to camp, also you shouldn’t move when camping .-.
I hope they added forest map (full of bushes, large) and a castle at the middle.

Light tanks at high tier can't play Mines very well. The only way to do it is by rushing to the middle, where you could possibly get shot by people already on the hill, or have to fight other fast tanks who reached the middle before you.
If a light tank goes to the lower area with water, they can easily get nuked by TDs, people on the hill, or die by mediums who are also in that area. If they go the heavy-route, the area is too small and you get nuked by the heavies. If you camp in the back like a TD, you don't do anything the entire game and watch as your team dies.
Not true. In my Bat Chat I go to the light house. There I am undetected as the enemies in middle can not spot me but in return I can spot their TDs.
In tier 7 and 8 AMX, and 9 batchat you get spotted very easily. Also, I will often be attacked by medium there and get torn apart due to no support in the area
if I still had my T10 batchat, I'd go to hills, if not I'll circle around to the cap, then to the spawn hill then to lighthouse

I kinda hate mines becuase everybody won by some strategy when they were a new player and then they will only do that strategy. And the the whole team breaks apart and goes in 4 different directions

^ the hitboxes on some maps, especially on oasis, are slightly off, and it is only noticeable when you come out of sniper mode. Can be really frustrating when you are trying to peak as little as possible

What if you made a battle of the buldge map with like a small city in sector 5 or have it carry to 4 and 6, or have woods in sectors 4 and 6. You could have hills by spawn and some rocks for tds or woods to to position themselves. The cap would be in the center of the town/city.

Just look at this map. Castilla. The drawing is bad cos my thumbs r fat but u get the idea. I have highlighted major battle points, camping spots and routes as well as lines for the middle and points where symmetry is prominent

Uhh the bottom team spawns like closer to the middle tho, the real clash point is on that hill
And top team also spawns closer to the middle
Both teams simply both reach the hill nearly at the same time because bottom team makes a detour basically while top makes a long stretch to it

Mines is a really good map. But everyone plays like donkeys on it.

Mines is just too small to go to the beach, 90% of the time anyone goes there gets spotted and gets killed by TDs camping at the back
Create a flank route through the mountain around the city side that connects the spawns. Allows meds to flank the Tds easier and get to the city safely without spawn campers from tearing them apart. Also add another route up hill opposite from beach side.
50% of the games I have in higher tiers ends in a stalemate for 5mins, basically win by having trolls shots
Have hull down tanks going hill, Mt to the flanks with some non hull down ht, td camps. Both teams do this not exposing themselves to tds and you might as well have trench warfare
A trench map seems interesting more or less.
Wide open map with a bunch of varrying depth trenches and some underground tunnels. TDs smack anybody who pops up too high. Meds/lights can use the tunnels to flank behind enemy lines and hulldown heavies can use the trenches to slowly make their way accross the map. Give it the wasteland sandstrom effect every now and then that's strong enough to reduce view range by 60% so people can risk going topside to make it across faster. Put the base in the dead center inside a crater (underground tunnels look like a spiderweb almost and can also be used to reach the base.

One small map with a river that makes the tank fight from distance may have a bridge to make players try to cross it if players get in the river tanks get destroyed and with a good amount of rocks or structures and bushes to hide the bridge may be big and with cars and stuff to take cover

I have always wanted a map that is a gigantic forest. Just forest. Maybe a little hill in middle. And it should be a lot of trees. And some stones to tame cover behind.

they don't want to create a bigger map because there are fewer vehicles for a larger amount of space
If it got bigger then TDs would technically be more of a problem and prolly camp more. The symmetry also helps keep teams even but then again the team lineups are different and each tank can only use certain parts of the map effectively
If they make bigger maps, why not make a mode for like 10V10s? The bigger map space would allow for more tanks on the field and would bring a different play style to the game, kind of like how realistic

Wg doesn’t want jungle maps. Blitz doesn’t work like that. In WoT and wt it does but in blitz it doesn’t. I think it is because of the spotting mechanics.

Looks like it will function simiale to dynasty's pearl, which is definitely jot a good thing. Lightly armour tanks will have every litte chance from my first impressions but it will be interesting to see how the overpasses function

@sudden trout the reason for the yolo rush is the game is almost always decided by which team gets control of the area across the river first
Mediums and lights in that corner are almost impossible to dislodge
Adding the hill to Himmelsdorf would turn it from the best map in the game, into another Middleburg, which is already the worst map in the game
I know about the mediums but i have had teams where is7s and e100 try getting the corner, crossing the river
Heavies crossing is really dumb
There are also 2 other supremacy points one in port and 1 in city
They have to stay on the down side of the river to interdict any reds crossing
The b cap is easy to shut down from the river side
IS-7 is amazing when you cross. I always cross in the IS-7
And the TDs just camp at back behind ridge or bridge
Russian heavies are somewhat faster I believe, so they may manage to cross better than an e100

And it also offers no cap advantage, since the B cap on supremacy, as well as the encounter cap is easily controlled from the riverside
Also, you have to YOLO rush the riverside. If your team gets trapped behind the road on either side, your river corner tanks will be exposed to crossfire, and you'll have no cover or hulldown positions to work with

Im mostly talking about random battles, everyone floods the river section of the map and are prevented in progressing as there are TDs camping at the back ( stalemate) in which results in a yolo rush
and all tier X heavies have atleast 6 FYI
and there's a huge difference between gravedigger/Predator 5 degrees and is7 6 degrees

The way camo rating works through the bushes is the one task that really puts a strain on the game. That's why it's simplified when compared to WoT PC and why there are less bushes on the maps than you might want to see. There's no way WG can make a jungle map with foliage to give camo, trees that can be knocked down, etc, etc ... without making the game nearly unplayable on basically any device
Elven forest map where most of the trees are huge and cannot be knocked down with bushes that act like walls/buildings instead of normal bushes and have some of the usual bushes that actually provide camo

Dynasty's pearl is not a good map. Unless you have armour you are going to struggle a lot and one spawn has much better camping spots.

Himmelsdorf does need a rework. Too flat.
One team can sit basically at spawn and snipe the meds side while the other team cant. There is basically no good areas for most meds because they are all dominated by heavies that can take hits.
Lmao dynasty pearl? That's the map I mastered my grille, and hate the grille, it's just a peek a boom map or GD map
It's actually a great map for something with armour, light on the other hand have 0 room to work but I actually like that
Every type of tank should be able to work on every map. Mines sucks because TDs are way to powerful and meds are basically useless. Himmelsdorf sucks because basically every gd tank is useless except in a few specific spots. On dynasty's pearl meds and anything that cant bounce really struggles to do well and so the map needs changing 🤷
Dynasty’s Pearl, Himmelsdorf, and Mines all need rework definitely. Faust however is among the best maps in the game. Every class and play style has spots they can use to good effect
Don't you dare talk about touching Himmelsdorf. Himmelsdorf is the best map in the game, and is honestly also the most skill based map too
Nah HD is all corridors eccept the middle which is a death trap for any tank. Lights and Meds that have weak turrets have nothing to do, TDs have maybe one good position acorss the entire map. Heavies are really the only tanks that actually enjoy Himmelsdorf since the entire map is set up for angling/sidescraping.
@compact scaffold The one map I'm most comfortable playing in the Bat Chat is Himmelsdorf because Himmelsdorf is the only map where I'm guranteed to not have to fight some hull down brawl. All the little streets and alleys ensure that it's easy to run, hide, reset camo, flank, and create crossfires. Himmelsdorf is unforgiving if you're bad, but if you're good at rotations, it's great.

At least let HD be reworked. Like it’s all flat. Gd tanks are useless and tds got nothing to do. Tds don’t have many opportunities? Lmao. I should go make a meme.
@twilit basalt there are a few spots but most of them are easily countered by 1 heavy. 1 spawn has much better TD spots at the back and the rest of the spots need a bit or armour or a lot of luck.

My best non-heavy battles on Himmelsdorf are when the enemy team is all heavies and TDs, while I am the only light tank....

The maps that really should be rebalanced are the ones where one side of the map has serious advantage over the other
(+mines ofc, coz that map is terrible)
The best example: port bay. If you get noob teams that go to port area, you know you already lost the game because the other side has a significant advantage

Middelburg is a decent map. 2 city bases balences out anti-city meta. Both sides can work which is rare for a map with 2 distinct sides

You can get some great city battles but generally they are a bit too team dependent, if you recognise your team as being vaguely competent then it works. Adds an extra layer to the tactics which is nice

You can get spotted if you're flanking in a med
You are much less effective with the heavies than you are fighting meds there. You are basically stealing a GD heavies spot. It is definitely one of the better maps but not perfect

I would flat out remove Middleburg for being the worst map in the game. Half the map is unusable, the map is team dependent, and since half the map is unusable, it ends up being a 2 lane hull down brawl. On top of this, it's super defensive; it's nearly impossible to make a play without getting wrekt. The team that wins is the team that never attacks. Furthermore, it's unbalanced. The South spawn positions on the hill are slightly elevated compared to North Spawn leading them to win the hill fight more often.
If you've ever wanted a WoT map to simulate WW1 along the Aisne river, then Middleburg is a great map. But if you actually aren't a masochist, it's by far the worst map in the game

However, because the hill on Middleburg is so steep, crossfire and rotations between the 2 sides is impossible, unlike any other map. On Dynasty, I can flank and play through the town area if I want to, and still be effective. If I want to try that on Middleburg, I'll take a full minute, and get shot to pieces.

It's virtually impossible to cap on Middleburg if the enemy has any competent players because they can play hull down areas and peel away the town defenders like an onion. And often, the town team will be full of poor players who try to trade shots with enemies on the high ground on the outskirts of town.
On Mines,it can be hard to flank, but if you manage to flank, it can actually be devastating because of the crossfire it can create.. On Middleburg, if you flank, all the enemy has to do is turn their guns at you and shoot you no problem from elevated positions.

Because you can always rotate across the map unspotted in the right places, you're never forced to frontally brawl heavies. It's very easy to simply make a quick flank, crossfire them, and move onto the next target

Where are you going to flank on Oasis Palms for instance? A single TD in their spawn can shut down most areas for you to go, and all it takes is one additional heavy on both sides to completely control are your lanes of movement. You'll be forced to fight something frontally no matter what
On Himmelsdorf, on the heavy alley, there are 2 lanes, there's a lane though the courtyard, and 2 lanes through the rails, as well as the streets that run parallel to the spawns

If you take 2 minutes to take your sweet time driving from the dunes, to your spawn, to the town side dunes, then to their spawn, there's a good chance you've already lost by then
And that's assuming nothing went town. If something did go town, you're once again forced to brawl something frontally

In competitive, it’s not as strong though, since an organized team can make it difficult to push into town though, but pub teams lack the patience and organization to do such

As far as the landings go, they were done right around sunrise on an overcast day (it was just a small break in a major storm system) so it would have been fairly dim

I feel like the Mirage map needs a major re work. Its terrible for flanks and heavies barely have any cover besides the water fall or the big middle part. To many kids camp on that map and bring us lossses.
Heavies can utilize Hull down areas in the dunes, it may be better to have your mediums scout first so you don't get torn to shreds first but if the coast is clear (no pun intended) then it would be wise to move with them.
I understand that light tanks and mediums tanks don't always perform scouting duty but if your team is constantly moving try to keep up with them.
If you cannot and you have an additional heavy falling behind with you, it might be wise to stop, and dig in.
I usually just go past rails and have a good fight there, if they wanna come over then they’ll have to get through me tunneling them through the bottom of the train

Castilla is much better than mines because the town and church are effective places that arent completely dominated by camping TDs. Mines is definitely not fine because 2 TDs with slight situational awareness can prevent any pushes from anywhere.

@nocturne mortar Except TD’s do completely dominate the church, and they can completely dominate the town thanks to numerous sight lines through it. At least on mines, you actually know where the td’s are likely to be, and can avoid them. Camping isn’t mandated on mines, it is on Castilla.

You get at least 3 campers on each team every battle, generally TDs but meds and heavies like to do it too. On Castilla you have effective cover to get close to the TDs without taking shots. It is also very common for the TDs to completely ignore the town and so you get free farming. The church is not dominated by TDs because there are lots of points that the TDs cannot shoot.
You get at least three, but it isn’t mandated. You don’t have to have campers on Mines to be effective. On Castilla, you will lose if you don’t have campers.
On Castilla, the church is dominated by td’s not because they can fire on every position in it, but because they have sight lines through every position, say, a med, might have to move through to be effective. Same thing with town.
So I suppose what I should say is, any td with a brain will definitely dominate the town or church.
On Mines, a clever medium can completely negate a camper’s advantage. A clever medium, or a gun depression heavy or t110e3 can do the same thing but in a different way.
There are so many places around the church where you can move under cover. If you are under the impression that the TDs camping there have a brain them you can assume the player has a brain and can use cover, watch reloads, etc then the church and the town are definitely not dominated by TDs.
If you dont have campers on mines then you are completely screwed because you will get flanked very early and you will get massacred. On Castille if you dont have campers you can still be effective. You have many more positiona where you can do damage apart from the ridge.
I find the AMX 40 is really good at holding town on Mines

@proper flicker never go into town on mines map. Perhaps in tier 8 you can flank, but stick to holding hill with your AMX40

It runs really well when I go town with my bud who caps and distracts them so our team can take hill, and then I defend him and eventually cap/seek out the last ones

I pick the rest of the enemies who are weak from trying to charge over hill, no skill is really required in low tiers against these peeps
@proper flicker capping base is effective to put pressure on reds but a good team will ignore you and take advantage of 6 v 7 game
I go town because nobody else does, it’s a great way to flank/rush the reds to divert enemies onto my sidescraping ducky
@proper flicker there is very little cover in town from crossfire and your gun is really not in game if reds decide to take hill

I’m testing some new headphones after... what happened to my last pair.
During the offline comp there was a gift shop for players during the event. It was accidentally put in that shop on accident for a few hours before being taken down.
It was a huge mess. It was put in the store and then pulled from the shop. Then it was taken from the players who bought it and they were given a refund. Then the folks who bought it threw a fit and it was returned to them.
Long story short it should have never been in the shop to begin with.
They took the tank away and gave everyone there gold back. However they gave the tank back and let them keep the gold.
It was a huge mess... And not really a topic for #maps-discussion so let's move on please

i like castilla, as well as dead rails/winter malinovka (which one are you talking about @glass zodiac ). the map i hate is the one that is sort of green, and on one side you push up to like a fortress thingy thats really high and everyone camps, and you cant shoot across the map

How about a gladiatorial arena? No rocks or bushes, but flat or with deep craters. The arena itself could be in a huge crater (with central peak). Sort of gladiator meets Apollo.
Maybe a battle that takes place in a Cave System, just try to make the ceiling as high as possible so the camera doesn't move forwards or backwards

All maps would be nice / the maps must be a challenge to all tanks that fast and slow // some of the maps also need tank traps that are unseen and tank barriers and tank R-I-D that also unseen in the maps

Usually in the bushes on the hilly flank. Also depends on the TD. Problem is, everyone knows to fire blind shots into those bushes as they’re popular spots, so expect some activity. I believe that’s the C-flag flank.

@dull ocean at the back behind you team. However you must move forward as red meds may flank and catch you unprotected. There are also way to go on top of a hillock to put in shots into A base. C base is bad for TDs as the only good place is behind bush and rock on the flanks.

I never know where to go..... This helped me a lot
TDs should be agressive on rockfields. The few camping spots are useless for most of the battle. The best thing to do is to find an area, like the far side of C, that cannot be shot without the reds exposing too much. The only useful spots for staying back are near the back beind bushes but they are well known and so you need to be careful. The other side is used much less but there are alright crossfire positions to the other side. @dull ocean

No I mean there is a part where you are blocked from climbing onto train tracks but at the same time you just need like 1 Maus and maybe 1 more tank to get a tank on the tracks. The tracks stretch across whole map so is it supposed/not supposed to be accdssible

I was meaning on the new bay map. Every battle I have had so far I have ended up taking some pretty long shots. However, I will admit it is very easy to suddenly get way too close to the enemy before you spot them. Lots of blind corners
How about having some maps that like really resemble a WW2 experience? Normandy is just amazing but imagine how fun it'd be if we had more open maps like Tarawa, where japanese tanks would actually fit in amazing. As of now, we only have Yamato Harbor for the japanese tech tree; and many other real ww2 battle locations.
You don't understand how hard it is to create a map that resembles a place (city, battle location, river etc.) And make it balanced at the same time.
I was never excluding terms of balance & difficulty. But if this is looked upon, I'm more than sure none of these will be a problem.
But, according to your logic, making new maps is hard enough not to even consider a suggestion.

I’ve been on the new map. My VK 100.01 p really didn’t travel very far. The buildings are nice to sidescrape off of.
i've played two matches and one test match in a private room, idk it feels really awkward, im not used to all the enemies being on the front line

I don’t really like New Bay. It really feels like it favors heavy gameplay, whereas I prefer fast medium and light tank gameplay. The passive spotting opportunities seem minimal and the chances to flank the enemy and inflict damage seems kinda lacking, as it’s really a bunch of corridors that lead into the main force...
At least that’s my experience. If anyone wants to enlighten me as to how to play lights and fast meds better on it I’d be happy to listen

New Bay
- Takes time to move between the top section and bottom section
- Ramps can be trap where you're exposed and can't get the gun down
- Lack of ridges compared to other maps, the top is pretty flat except metal girders for the bridge, only ridge is the ramp
- city is like idk it's too much of a city model than a map the streets are long and no actual cover or obstacles except the street junctions then you can hide behind walls, only thing helping is uneven terrain height of streets otherwise it's too plain
