The gun is accurate with a good dpm, the turret armour is good, the turn rate (especially turret rotation) is excellent, the only thing that’s really bad about this tank is the hull armour and the cruising speed

They have different types of premium AP vs their normal AP

Usually the common ammo is AP which has high damage and average penetration while the prammo/ premium ammo called APCR has higher penetration but lower damage than AP. In exception of KV-5 (and other tanks which I didn't know) where APCR is its common ammo and HEAT is the premium ammo.

The 105 mm Zis-6 gun has AP, the prammo APCR, and HE. For the 152 mm M-10 gun, it has 2 AP and 1 HE. I don't know why there's 2 of them but I think the premium MPB mod 1915/28 has a higher penetration than 53G 530 ammo.

Hey there, is medium tank japanese like STA-1 good?

Oh yeah, STA-1 is the best tier 8 med, hands down. It has amazing penetration, troll armor, and some decent mobility. The only thing that really lets it down is a somewhat long reload for it's caliber and top speed. For legal reasons, this was a joke

Japanese meds are average at best until you get to tier 9, where the type 61 is a pretty good tank, and then the STB is one of the best tier 10 meds in the game.

The STA 1 is more of a second line support tank, due to some pretty good accuracy and very good penetration. It does not have enough mobility to really run from anything, and it's armor is HEable everywhere except the front. You really just have to sit behind the front line, make sure you aren't targeted, and have a lot of game knowledge so the enemy doesn't catch you off guard where you can't run.

Otherwise you can take the usual newbie lines, aka E 100, Jg E100, E 50 M, Obj. 268

Those are all very solid lines even when playing free2play

Depends if you want to go the route of the military necessity at the time or the route of bigger and better.

If you take the first route they probably would have discarded the project altogether and instead focused on smaller tanks such as the Jagdpanzer 38 (t) (Hetzer) and maybe in the future the E 25 and E 10.

If you take the second route then it’s likely that they’d have downscaled the weight well below 200 metric tons to something like 100 tons at most and went with designs like the E 75, which is essentially an up-armoured and up-gunned Tiger II

Plus it also depends what suits you best. For example:
I prefer a tank that has good aiming time and is very accurate with speed. Sounds like the RU 251, the M41 Bulldog and the 90mm, and the LTTB

Yeah that is true, the downside of most of the line is that they offer big guns with below/average pen at their tiers and you miss shots quite frequently. Can be very frustrating

The T49 is the troll meme slapper of the three since it’s standard HEAT is finicky to pen with, but getting a penetration with either HEAT or HESH will definitely wake your opponent up. Usually effective when you get an open shot from a safe spot, but a fast drive-by slap sometimes works.

As for the T92E1 and Sheridan, their APCR rounds are a much safer bet to try penetrating with since it doesn’t prematurely detonate on their suspension

Smasher is a tier above KV2, even then Su152 reloads quicker but it’s definitely less accurate. Instead of Making smasher tier 8 nerf it’s accuracy. Nerf it, make it slightly worse than an SU’s and it will be balanced. Lower tiers are meant to be weaker which is why they occupy the support role in battles when facing the tier above.

Depends on the shell. HE mostly isn’t used on tanks in general, it’s used on infantry. HESH can be used on solid structures and tanks, and it’s mainly a plastic explosive that squishes when hitting something, exploding and creating a shockwave

Delayed explosives. They exist and are known to pen the tank first, and explode shortly after getting through the armor

However they are more common in a modern scenario

That being said, being a heavy and having a turret is much more beneficial. Atleast that's how I look at it. The badger is still has to make sure to keep the entire tank pointing towards the enemies and the traverse doesn't help. That's just my opinion.
