Soviets either have big guns on the 152 line, which later on can be played more aggressively and the 122mm line is more of a sniping/support line

Great gun, decent mobility, bad armor. You need to think strategically to use the shots all at once, then run to a better position. Every shot you miss will cost your team precious time due to your long reload period. Try to not miss, and don't rely on your armor, french heavies are not famous for it.

I’m super close to the mauschen, and I didn’t free exp my way to it. Going through the VK 100 without free exp was hell but it’s worth it. You get a massive gun that does pretty good damage and your armor is nigh impenetrable if you angle it and wiggle your tank to avoid shells going into your lower plate and turret cheeks, along with the cupola up top.

The mauschen looks like it’s gonna be a whole different story.

PC- 4.7 sec and 160 HP damage

Honestly I don’t get why people don’t go towards the IS-7. It’s a good tank, it just has its ammo rack located at the front. Everything else about the IS-7 is great except for the gun depression.

I'm cringing right now. E4 and 704 are not even close to frontline tds. They are both snipers or second line support. If you want a true frontline td, get the E3 or Jageroo. But even then, no tds are truly meant for the frontline, they are meant to support the heavies with big alpha and penetration values. They sit in the back or second line and wait for the enemies to make a mistake before nuking them out of existence.

Don’t engage the enemy long range, stay medium range with close support from teammates. Your purpose in that tank is to absorb standard shells, and have the HP to deal with the lowered damage of premium shells longer. Of course use the gun too.

The most effective angle is 20 degrees, because usually if you angle more the sides become penetrable. That’s out in the open, if you’re sidescraping, you can do the same thing but for your turret you have the option to angle that too, I’ll try to get a picture. This is a defensive maneuver though, you don’t have to sacrifice your ability to actively fire back for this. It’s also a but difficult to pull off

Now to get the defensive sidescrape

This is the defensive sidescrape, which counters basically every gun in tier 8, other than perhaps ISU-152 or SU-101

i prefer the is7 over the 4 but i think the is4 is just overall the better top tier tank, this being said the is7 line at lowers tiers is much better IMO

IS-4 itself is great but I’d never recommend the line for a newer player mainly because the grind isn’t great and will probably put you off a bit.

For a newer player I’d recommend something like the E5 line for example for heavies

yeah, id agree with this for sure. i think the is4 is a great top tier tank but the line tier 8 to 5 needs a bit more advanced knowledge to play correctly such as sidescrape.

the IS-4 has cupolas and the cheek weakpoint can be penetrated by most tanks, unlike the IS-7, which has no cupola and the cheeks can only be penned consistently with high pen TDs loading gold

are both turrets good? yes. if we had to get nitpicky and single out the smallest details, the IS-7 pulls ahead slightly, although in practice it barely matters
