True, but the space armor isn't spaced far enough away to be amazingly good at it's job. The gun is nice, but most other IS tanks have the same solid gun at it's tier. It does have a really cool shell discard animation, but it's not really worth the usually steep price for it. Honestly, if I was Wargaming's balance team, I'd put everything into the T-2020's gun. Make it the best 122 on a heavy at it's tier, keep it's armor poor

Hm...nerf 252U's gun and mobility significantly. IS-3 can stay where it is, maybe buff side armor a bit so it's better at sidescraping. Nerf T-2020's armor back to what it was originally, buff it's gun significantly. Buff the IS-6's mobility significantly while nerfing the gun and the armor a bit, and then buff/nerf the IS-5 so it's a jack-of-all-trades between all of them. That might do the trick, not sure on that though. The 252U would need the most drastic changes since the thing, while it does have a weakspot on the LFP, is basically unbreakable as soon as it sidescrapes, goes hull down or hides it's LFP while still having good mobility and a good gun

Every tier 8 heavy with prammo and CS, sometimes uneeded, except Chrysler K, T32, Action X, Caernarvon, Emil I, and chancy for both VK 100 and 168, AMX mle. 49, AMX 50 100, and WZ-110 can penetrate that mantlet
It will remain red until you get overkill pen like ISU APCR and tier 10 TDs and whatnot

The issue is that it's very large and not overly mobile
The STA-1 is fantastic imo, the gun is amazing, high pen, good alpha, accurate. It has very high camo and view range, and it's HE resistant
Type 61 is just a more HE-able 46 Patton but with a better gun
And STB-1 is arguably the best medium in tier 10 because the armor (especially hull down), the gun is solid, the view range is high and the camo rating and mobility are decent

The tier 4 japanese medium is highly underrated too. It doesnt have great pen but the DPM on the experimental gun is amazing for tier 4

I found Chi-To to be boring, it's a medium with common stats, nothing special. At least the gun on Chi-Ri gives you 450 damage in 3 sec, with good depression. That's a fun tank to play.

Just because it has armor does not mean that using cover suddenly becomes impossible. The kran can easily hide for a bit, peek, take a dump on the e5, and rinse and repeat.

You should be able to pen most tanks, and going over 310 with AP normalization kinda doesn't pass many barriers with CS (mle 54)
326 with APCR normalization could very well work too, but for guns that do 400 damage, Super COnq might need rammer to stay in the fast firing game

The grind is way better than the 183 line. It's a tricky line to play though, all except the conway have no armor and the only armor the conway has is the mantlet, I would recommend it if you're experienced

Aim better and hit your targets carefully, you won't have a hard time hitting your targets with that amazing accuracy.
If you want to be more cautious, then don't take risky shots if you're sure the shell wont gonna hit your target without the help of RNG, for example firing between through tight angles.

E5 will feel kinda hard in the hand of someone who don't know how that type of tank need to be played, the turret armor is good but will sometimes get penned by people who can aim or at least got lucky.

I don't have it yet because I got encouraged to buy 268 first before the 113gft, but i only had like 200 battles on my 111gft and i find it kinda fun to use because of its profile but overall performance kinda meh compare to others same tier TD, because of the gun cannot actually work over distance only mid range will works, then the DPM is just wack for a turretlessn TD.

Awesome, well it's not comparable the french actually has some armor to be efficient to play as an armor backup towards MT because it have mobility starting from the T8 one to T10 but iirc the gun is kinda trolly over distance, especially the Foch 155 it cannot snipe.
The AC sucks like the thing is just bad, you'll be having a hard time playing it, but the gun is pretty good tho, just the profile so you need to actually hide a lot with that big of a profile.

Calibrated wont most of the time allow you to pen stuff you can't usually with your regular HE pen, it has been calculated (it can stat wise at t8 allow you to shoot more angled poirly armored vehicules) the only factor you can improve when playing rhm more successfuly is to aim better or aquire more game knowledge, thats why i wouldn't recommend to myself using calibre'ated in such tank, yet if you don't feel comfortable use it ofc !

go to spotting positions, ambush tanks when their spotting ports are out of line of sight from you tank,
retreat if spotted, from earlier spotting if there is any tank alone / cannot be supported by their team, that you can run around without taking much hits then rush them,
otherwise flank enemies and farm them from mid range, if you attract any attention then run away,
engage lower tier meds while wiggling a bit left and a bit right,
you got 7° depression, ok turret and ok enough armor which works against tier 6 and 7 meds and light if you dance like said before, against tier 8s you are just a support (even a budget light tank but worse)
try to conserve your hp so you can yolo at end against low hp targets

You do need prammo to win, try hitting a sidescraping is4 or maus or any other heavily armored tanks and see how well you can do without prammo. Refusing to use prammo is a mistake. Prammo is there for a reason. But that's your opinion.

@solid gate Their would have to be balance changes to the vehicle, regarding if it would be placed at tier 7 or tier 8, because its using an 8.8cm gun, it would be simmalr to the Tiger I's gun, but most likely slower reload, and slightly less gun handling.
It would also have to be slightly slower then the tech tree tiger due to the either, add on armor or modified hull, but testing would have to be done of course.
regarding on how it would play if it was placed at tier 8, idk, higher penetration regarding the 8.8cm gun, and higher dpm to make up for its lack of alpha.
at tier 8 it would prob play like a bad action x with a bigger lower plate and a weaker turret.
but further investigation would have to be done on either to place it at tier 8 or tier 7, along with testing.
overall if they do "proper" balancing to it and not give it like -8 to -10 degrees of depression, it would prob be fine as a tier 7.

it was more of a experiment/ prototype to replace cent 1-5, due to needing a new firing system to deal with the t-54's and later t-55's reliably.
the germans recently made the 10.5cm gun at this time, but they found that a slightly modified turret would house the 10.5cm well enough. Hence the design was scraped (:
