So, basically, I have two criteria for paying gold on a prem tank. 1) it gives me a premium above what I can get from a researchable vehicle. 2) it has special features that make it fun, which is not available from other vehicles in the tech tree. My main concern is criteria #1. If not, then is #2 sufficiently compelling to make up?

Here is a quick summary of it.
Pros: 1200 horsepower and has medium mobility, Good armor and decent gun depression, able to hulldown.
Cons: subpar penetration, lower glacis still can be penetrated bad credit earning capabilities

I appreciate the candor, @solid gate . I guess I alternate between my tanks that do not yet have elite XP and the premiums that give me enough credit to get the next set of tanks. So, I want the credit grind to be fun (and win of course). KpfPz 70, is a great example for me of a tank I LOVE to drive. It does not yield as much credit as my Löwe or Super Pershing, but I can play it because I like it and it makes the grind good. Would you say the K fits into the fun category then?

Another one that I really want is the Cheiftain Mk 6. The reason is it pays a credit premium above anything else at Tier X. Rumor has it that it is a good tank, besides.

@modest tangle Easy to lose silver with the Excelsior, if you need to APCR your way to victory (because AP pen is awful) and you have a standard account. The APCR in British guns is overpriced relative to the damage they do and they never got the shell price lowered when damage was lowered back then. They are not good credit grinders. The AT15 A is worst, I have lost 30k in silver in a single match in this thing

Can someone pls clarify why do these amount of modules are worth it to grind? IMO, it's just a pure waste of xp. WG could remove some. Look at the t44: 2 types of 100mm guns and one of them isnt worth the grind

The chinese line is worse. WG could make players grind 2 gun types at maximum in any tank. Some of these guns aren't worth it at all.

Chinese medium line is full of hellish stock grinds, but a few guns here and there are shared between lines (100mm on WZ-110/120, 100mm on IS-2/T-34-1)

If you have a smaller amount of battles, like around 5k, then once you get good at the tank you can play enough to bring your win rate back up. If you have like more than 10k battles, then a hundred or so to grind the tiger p isn’t going to cause your win rate to fluxuate much

Any opinions about the type 61? According to wgs stats it has by far the worst average winrate. Im occasionally playing the sta-1 (which is already a bad Tank - everything its got is good gun depression and okay Mobility/Penetration). Anyway, for me sometimes it's fun to play and im eventually close to unlock the 61. Is it really that hard to carry Games with that Tank?

your own gun on the type 61 can almost pen itself with HE. its a paper tank that does nothing better than a T54 except die faster. the stb-1 isnt any better. sure, good players can make it work but that doesnt make it a good tank.

Yeah, and that would still be it’s role, however, it makes little sense to trade 50 alpha for: not being able to fire on the move, poor overall armor, getting caught on fire and ammo racked of something so much as grazes your right side, very little gun depression, average overall terrain resistance, etc. At tier 8, this trade is 90 alpha, so it makes sense, and most heavies have 105 mm at tier 8, so it makes more sense

the speed is very good for one, and it does have a lovely gun. its also heavy (i think) which means you can ram well. But overall very fast as far as mediums go, tho not quite at CDC level its still excellent

I forgot. IS-3 got remodeled. Old model was similar to IS-3 Defender. Only it has 250mm all around turret armor.

I mean IS-4 is the tournament tank usually, but i enjoy them both to some degree. They still aren't my cup of tea
