I thought it was just one of the US’s usual overlap things where the last upgrade on a tank looks nearly identical to the base model of a new tank (for example late M48 pattons and early M60’s)

Yeah. For whatever reason they decided to do an M26 at 8 that is basically an M46 when upgraded and an M46 that is basically an m47 when upgraded at 9

Instead of M26 at 7, M46 at 8, and M47 at 9. Meanwhile we have premiums in Blitz and/or PC that are the historical versions at those tiers but as premiums. Just has always been weird to me that they insisted on the T20 at 7 and basically jumbled the M26 and M46 at 8 and M46 and M47 at 9

Yea T20 doesn’t make any sense to be there since it wasn’t a full production tank just put that somewhere else

The US medium line pretty much follows the real path the Us tanks went through

The T20 makes sense there but I personally think the M26 makes more sense there and just do M46 at 8 and M47 at 9 with closer to historical specs. I'm that fussed over historical accuracy mind you, it just seems like a more elegant way to handle it than jumbling everything together at tiers 8 and 9 like they did

There’s a tank museum near me that has a ton of US tank’s including the only surviving T26E4 super Pershing (doesn’t have the armor plates that was only applied to one) I go there often and was there like two days ago

They have all the pattons and their M48 Patton is the early model that doesn’t have the M60 looking back engine vents
The one in blitz was that one but they changed the appearance of the back to the later model when it got PBR

The Pershing and its derivatives definitely have a cleaner look to them than the Sherman does. The Sherman is iconic and what comes to mind when I hear tank but the relatively high profile and sort of awkward shape don't look as modern as the Pershing (and I mean fair, Pershing was a later tank)

So, can someone pls explain why the Royal Treatment attachment for the FV217B has the improved visuals but the rest of the tank doesnt?

Pics for reference, stuff doesnt get snow build up on it when you have the old visuals, hence how I know the attachment got the visual update but not the rest of the tank. Just wanted to bring this up so that hopefully WG sees this and can update the tank too so it doesnt look mismatched to its own attachment

The turret weakspots are small and spread out, so it's pretty hard to pen when it keeps moving

I think it’s really interesting that there are WW2 tanks competing with MBT’s at tier 10 like Maus,E-100 and to an extent IS-7 (it was designed in 1945 but probably right after the war)

No. Leo 1 systems were way better. It was faster, smaller, had better visibility, and a better gun. The maus would’ve been slow, effectively blind, and had trouble actually laying the gun on target.

This is a fight between two tanks that would only require one shell to incapacitate the other. It would all depend on who sees who first. If they see each other at the same time, it’s who can get on target first. The only way the Maus wins if the Leo 1 goes into an open field where the Maus is able to see it from a concealed location.

There’s a reason that Leo 1 and similar tanks have considered to be modernized over the years while no tanks like the Maus have been attempted again. The Maus would have been next to useless at actually doing anything other than driving roughly towards the enemy and taking shots of pure faith.

Wargaming, please buff the 30B. It's a mix of Leo and STB and both got buffed but not the 30B. Please remove the huge Cupola like you did with the 5E once or at least give it more dpm to compete with similar MTs

I just bought the 30b. I’ve been wanting it for a while and I’m a quite stoked lol.
But it feels like it could do with a buff indeed.
Maybe not the cupola which is afaik historical, but dpm indeed. Or accuracy.
On the other hand I was checking blitzstars and it’s not performing that bad. More like middle of the pack, ok maybe on the lower hand. Better than Leo anyway lol. This might have to do with people who persevere in playing it despite its being bad, ie somewhat good players (as opposed to Leo who is supposed to be good, and is bad players’ doom).
Anyway it might be those not-THAT-bad performing stats that make it so WG never buffs it.

Most Russian tanks that are "blue print only" are still most likely somewhat real
stuff like the Progetto and the newer European tanks are most likely completely fake

A lot of US and UK tanks that are blueprint only are somewhat real too as they also did pretty extensive tank studies and the like.

Personally I'm okay with "made up but with some basis in reality." The JP heavies for example seem to, with like two exceptions that are based on actual designs, be what ifs based on essentially scaling up medium and MBT designs concepts. This is fictional but not like... outside the bounds of belief so I think it's kinda cool.

Though admittedly there is a charm unique to vehicles that existed in metal, that you can see in person or at least in film/photos. Similar to how there is a charm to the GuP, Valkyria, or WH40k tanks if you enjoy those IPs except history is something with more universal appeal to many playing these kinds of games.

Yea im perfectly ok with tanks that are realistic but aren’t really real (pure fantasy stuff like annihilator I despise tho) but the only problem I have with them is no indication on which ones are real or not it really makes it near impossible to know which ones actually existed

And stuff like Valkyria and warhammer tanks are pretty cool seeing that other games tanks are allowed

I’m really bad at tier 10 medium gameplay which kinda sucks because I like the pattons,STB and leopard I think they’re really cool but just can’t really play em well
Something with no armor like Sheridan at least the damage per shot is really high

The HP is a huge problem too can’t really justify having 1800-1900 HP when my chieftain Mk 6 which plays like a medium has ~2450

It's all about getting into advantageous positions early and then using your DPM

Also maybe a hot take but I don't think any heavium is really that similar to a med, because they usually suck at shooting on the move, so the fine mechanics are very different. Object 140 is one of my best performing tanks period, and a big part of that is abusing the 0.08 on the move dispersion, which is pretty much twice as good as any heavium

Yeah I was gonna say that's sort of an ideal conditions thing. And it's possible that doing so might be bad for the engine (I believe the Tiger for example was very much not supposed to run its engine at full power for any sustained period).

Also for what it's worth, it was a prototype only so I do have some doubts as to how realistically achievable and sustainable that speed was given it was designed in 1945 and even many smaller tanks would struggle to reach that speed at the time.

Yeah thats kinda what I'm thinking. 15 isn't bad for a tank that size but to achieve and sustain those speeds? And again I find even that claimed performance might be a bit suspect given the later T-10, which was lighter, had an engine that gave it less hp/t and a lower max speed. So honestly the 45 km/h max speed seems plenty fair to me.

Unrelated, I have enjoyed the start of my Japanese heavy experience so far. A bit slow and the gun depression on the 6 was lacking but it was still enjoyable which says a lot because I value gun depression.

It's the sides. The tank is really skinny, so lining up a shot on the front plate can be hard, so a lot of the time, a shot will hit the sides instead (which are like 50mm thick or some nonsense) and won't be triple overmatched, and ricochet

I remember Löwe had a more rounded front having only a thin line as a weak spot but after PBR it became more flat edges coming together so there’s more of a lower plate

IS7 is the good old reliable line.
IS4 line and Type71 are good too.
same for the american Yoh heavy line if you want to try autoloaders

it is my opinion, it might not fit your playstyle...
best thing to do is to watch content about the game.
there's a lot of youtubers who will give advices on how to play certain tanks, where to go on maps, etc...
learn as much as you can and you will improve very fast :)

right now ? my prefered line is the T110E4.
american TD line
it is a TD line thats plays like a heavy tank.
It means it is versatile, has great damage potential, a troll armor that is fun to play with and discover how to use.
The rest of the line is pretty good too.
And because they are TDs you can camp and your team shouldnt be too mad about it.

WARNING : it is tricky to play for a new player.
My advice would be : grind 2 lines at the same time.
1 heavy line to discover how the game works and 2nd line to have a bit of fun and try new things.

just have a building or rock all the time around you. don't attack without one. don't go spotting cuz you'll demolished. with a wall/rock, reload behind the wall/rock and then pop out for a quick shot. if you get turtled, don't turn; just move towards a big wall or hill or anything that will stop the light tank from turtling you. lmk if you run into anything else annoying. also, staying near a game boundary prevents turtling @obtuse ice
