The moment you turn ever so slightly your armor profile in IS-8 is gone, and it has painful 5 degrees of gun depression. Conqueror at least has 7, good armor layout for hulldown playstyle and also has HESH. Not saying IS-8 is a bad tank, but clearly Conqeuror is better.

Conq has useless armour it is completely unreliable against anything that isn't a t8. And?? Is8 is a heavium with a very strong turret, what does turning have to do with that when you're taking this tank hulldown.

You're also seemingly not taking into consideration how aggressive is8 can be against t10s, it is completely capable of comfortably frontlining against t10 heavies, conq has to start being a bit more passive when it isn't top tier, played perfectly won't be an issue 90% of the time but it still matters.

The TSL-7 is a pretty useful tank, i don’t play it much but it does provide me some good credit grinds.

I use it more as a MT supporting Heavies. Since more firepower is within that group, and i notice that staying mobile helps

It's still got the gap, but to a lesser extent. You only need 1 maxed commander and you're already on par statwise.
Unlike the current crew system where you need every skill maxed to not be disadvantaged
