I think he's talking about the blitz world cup, which is an event that (used to?) take place every year and gathered a bunch of teams to fight in a tournament.

I participated in it once, and helped organise another. It was quite fun and there were a lot of really skilled players with real top players, but to my knowledge it was EU only and are in teams of 8-10
