Since it's based on xp, you can also do what I do when I'm farming for mastery badges. Deal 1/4 of someone's health, targeting tracks and observation devices when possible, and if there's another enemy in your line of sight, start going for them. Destruction assistance gives almost as much xp as a kill, as well as being better because if a shot kills someone, that means it could have dealt more damage but you wasted some damage. Targeting modules and trying to damage lots of different people as well as spotting gets a ton of xp
