Platoons are matched based on the top tier player, not the low tier player. What you experienced is common when there's a tier difference. As a result, platoons like that are called a "failtoon."

The only solution is to make sure you both are in the same tier before hitting "Battle."

Winning is much harder in a platoon anyways. Plus getting those metals u need good luck. U have to try to share kills with your toony and they the same for you. It's not that hard but at the same time it's hard enough most people probably won't even try, the mm alone when tooling will sink your stats if u care.
