smasher isn't as broken as some of the tier 7 tech tree tanks in the hands of a half decent player
sure, it does extremely good if the player themselves are good, but it also does extremely poorly if the player themselves are bad, to a more extreme extent than other tanks
this doesn't make a tank broken, it just means it has a high skill floor and high skill ceiling

smasher gives players at 56.7% WR a boost to 57.5% WR, which is 0.8% boost
by comparision, something like T28 HTC has an average player WR of 52.4%, and boosts the tank WR to 55.4%, a boost of 3%
You can sorta tell which one is more "pay to win", its going to be the one that boosts player WR by a whole 3%

Alpha is one of the most influential statistics in the game, especially if we talk about performance on the lower end of the player spectrum. Additionally, high alpha is also a hugely popular feature which means that a ton of players will play a tank that enables low performing players to perform better, creating a positive feedback loop that results in the spam of the tank as we knew and still know it with the 183, KV-2 and all the other usual suspects
