I gave the game a shot some months ago.

When you research a new tank, you can research an entire "lineup" as well from that tank

Like....at 4.0 in the Soviet "tech tree" you can research the KV-2. But if you keep playing with the KV2 you can research other 4.0 tanks as well to use in the battle.
