if someone on your team has 2 or 3 mark, id at least remember them
then when theyre on the enemy team, I might behave differently (ie. tunnel them)
to make sure that I win

i think its because most players on a tank have only played around 10-20 battles on that tank since the update, with less having played an amount closer to 50, so the more battles you play in a tank the less other players have played the same amount as you. it wont have as significant an effect in the future though

Like on fighter jets they place a plane on side of their aircraft to indicate how many planes they have shot down. As these tank marks indicate our success in taking down a respectable number of tanks why not put a tank on cannon of tank. These tanks can’t be too big to be fully seen on side of barrel so I recommend a nice looking smaller tank that would fit on cannon. Perhaps a colourful tank like the one attached for more visibility.

No gunmark progress after several battles without platoon on Leopard 1 and other tier 10 tanks, I have 22.800 random battles, on all tanks' stats it's saying "new tanks"

Can anyone help me understand the way you progress.
I just had a battle in the Concept 1 where I was top on the team, got a 1st class, did 3289 damage and assisted another 2035, for which I received 1412 xp. My gun progress went up 0.31%.
Then I had a battle in the M-VI-Yoh, where I only did 1212 damage and 261 assistance for which I got 950xp, but my gun mark progress went up 0.91% 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m totally confused.

Everything is matter to progress, starting from just one single spot to kills, module damage and (not sure)even the amount of you drive, so there are many variables. There is also a chance that since the update is new, there might be issues with setting avarage xp needed for marks. Overall, just keep playing and wish for great battles...

the E6 isn't supposed to brawl anyways, and neither is the chieftain if we're going to be honest. All the reasons you've listed are correct, but if the E6 can get to the Chieftain's sides at close combat which can very much happen because of the chieftain's higher front wheel position and its way worse mobility, then it can use regular HE at the Chief's sides towards the engine deck too.

The E6 is really just a medium tank with heavy HP and heavy firepower. Out of anything, the mobility is really the thing that makes it overpowered combined of course with its AP dpm. The chieftain is way more of a simple damage dealer.

It is generally never a good idea to compare two tanks with different roles, and much less by saying "one beats the other in [X situation where none of them should end up in anyways]" 😕

Last note, I'm not sure you actually ever used the E6. The cupola is really NOT much of an issue on the tank, or at least a lot less than for the chieftain that on top of this is slower when it comes to hulldancing. There's a lot of things in this game that can't really be explained just by looking in Blitzkit

Well, not really. They are on papers, but then again the tank is supposed to be relatively far away shooting more or less distracted people that are facing the other way (which is made by constantly adapting the E6 in a crossfire because of its mobility).
And since the acceleration is so great, it reaches a constant 10-15km/h in barely a second so it is super hard to hit that.

Ok someone gotta explain to me how exactly its calculated, I played 3 battles in the T57 with 4k average and that is only 0.8%? Does it take into account if/how you played the tank before gunmarks were added? How exactly are you supposed to get 3 marks in 50 games if 1 match gives me like 0.3% at best while doing 4k damage, 2 kills and 1 Supremacy cap on average

Or is the percentage simply bugged because its not calculated fully yet? (since when I go on the Window it shows "surprassed players (40 XP) 0.80%" with the 1st mark being at 178 xp as of right now.)

I thought the same at first, but the xp is real. The % is of total players who've played in that tank since release to my knowledge. So 99.2% of them have more than 40xp is how I read that

Gun marks are based off different xp. The short of it is play normally, maybe with extra brain to do more damage and get kills. Stuff like winning and boosters don't effect it.

gun marks are based on your average xp (not while playing in toon, and not based of the xp you get for winning, but combat xp without xp multipliers) over the last 50 battles in that respective tanks. Remember also that it only counts battles after the update came out. So if you have played 50 battles before the update, then they won't count. In order to get the first gun mark you need to do better than 65% of the playerbase, for the second 85%, and for the third 95%

Why can't I see Gun Marks progress?

In order to start seeing Gun Marks progress on a tank of yours, make sure the following criteria are true:

• Your account has 5000 career battles
• You have played at least 1 battle in said tank since Update 11.14 was released (5 Nov 2025)
• The battle was a random match, not a Ratings, tournament, training, or other fun mode
• The tank is a Tier 9 or 10 vehicle
• The battle played was solo, with no toonmate
• Your vehicle was added to the game (not necessarily your garage) at least 2 weeks ago
• Make sure any pending platoon requests are denied. If you sent one, close the game and stay offline for 3 minutes.

If the following are all true and you are not seeing any Gun Marks progress, write a ticket to customer support.

I suggest that the developers remove the yellow stripes on the legendary Karro camouflage near the markings on the gun. It doesn't look aesthetically pleasing and it's not clear why those yellow stripes are there.

They are based on average combat xp over 50 battles, so just spamming games and not playing well doesn't help.

To get them, you need to play well consistently and do better than 65%, 85% or 95% of the players with the same tank in those battles.

From what I can find on BlitzKit, it might not have the most players ever but it is performing very well. 4.3k players, 65.3% average winrate and 1247 average xp in the past month

I have a quick question about how Gun Mark XP are calculated.
In the official explanation, it says:
“Gun Mark XP are your Battle XP without multipliers, team damage bonus, survival bonus, and victory bonus.”

The sentence structure is a bit confusing — could you please confirm whether this means that team damage bonus, survival bonus, and victory bonus are indeed** excluded **from the Gun Mark XP calculation?

I just want to make sure that only the pure base XP from in-battle actions (damage, spotting, assists, etc.) are counted. Thanks!

Has anyone noticed that the counter for marks seems to be 30 rather than 50 games? Both me and my mate noticed this, it should not be possible for your average exp to go down before the point your games start replacing each other, and this happened after 30 not 50

It is possible for your average exp to go down between 30 games if you start playing bad and your average goes down.
50 battles is just that, the cap where your old games start being sorted out and replaced with your newer games.

if you are on the skill lvl to get a third mark you'll grind your stats up by grinding it (if you don't already have 70% +)

But the feature requires to be in the op 5% players driving a tank ( for the third mark ), and it is XP based, which means skill is required.
Why would player stats need to be published as to how/when the achievement was made?

Each tank is going to have a certain achievement xp level; that will likely be pretty steady and high ... unless maybe for unpopular tanks.

They all need to reach the same level.

We already have blitzstars ( and other stats sites ) to check how " pros " and everybody else performs.

If somebody posts a screenshot that they achieved a mark 3 on a tank. Head over to blitz stars. It should list their battles in that tank since the update 🙂

Marks are skill based though. A random player won't just stumble upon a three mark. They need to be consistently performing well in the tank

But this is an example of somebody who stated they just got a certain gun mark.
So, with a player name, and looking at the tank nation & type, and 30 day ... we get a rough idea of the " pro " player level that it takes 🙂

It is overall action and performance in battle.

In the above example you see that the player spots 2 tanks, does double the tank hitpoints of damage, etc .

The average player does not achieve that.

Head over to blitzstars.com and type in your player name.

Purple win 8 is not average player.

A player with green is average.

They're both in the same category or bracket, perhaps with one being at 95% and the other at 99% percentile.

Damage isn't exp buddy. There are a lot of other things that you need to consider, you can do 6K damage and get 0.5%

Some tanks are easier to mark, some harder.
You need to play the tank to the fullest to get everything out of it.
The Grille can also be played actively behind teammates.
It's really not unfair, since everyone has to go through the same thing >_<

Because it is experience based with an average across your last 50 battle.
So, as a player you play a number of battles, get a certain amount of experience in the tank; it is compared to others; then if you have a series of bad battles your experience drops ...
And perhaps the level needed increases as more players are playing a tank. Which is similar to earning Mastery badges ... it is not a perfectly static goal.

And on the 51st battle, the first battle is erased and 51st is added. Then the mark progress can drop if the 51st battle was worse than the first one by experience.

Yes, but let's say in your battles in the tank - for the sake of an example - you earn 1000 exp of which 250 exp counts as base xp for gun marks ... and you need to hit an average of 275 for three marks. So let's say you have 250 exp average across 50 battles .... so, you keep playing, you have some good battles, earning 275 exp, so your average goes up a little to 260 ... then you have 5 bad battles with 200 marks exp ... so your rolling average goes back down to 240.

It is possible because your recent battles are weighted more heavily than your old ones.

this means that all your old games are being devalued as you play, their exp is being reduced, and if you dont counteract this by playing up to the same average, your stats will go down. This only starts to become pronounced after 30 or so games, because the devaluing is gradual

wargaming has not really made this super clear, although they did mention that it is weighted towards recent games.

The way they have done it is good for a few reasons, instead of your most recent game being compared back to your game 50 games ago to determine if you went up or down, you simply have to perform above or below your average performance, this means that, say, you had an amazing mastery, super high exp game, you dont have to worry about losing it 50 games later - it is being devalued gradually, so you will not notice it dropping off

you can have a formula there to calculate exp per individual game, but that has nothing to do with how youre averaging that out over the 50, I don't think there has been any misinformation, its just not intuitive, and probably could have been communicated more clearly.
