#Episode 8 Discussion

I was referring to Luke beheading the vision of Vader in the cave.
Because it basically happens off camera in a flash of light
Yeah there's a massive flash of light and then the body just falls to the ground
The moment after impact
You still see the blade connect with the head and then the head tumbling off the shoulders.
Very different than other decapitations.
But still, ratings and probably unfamiliarity with this are probably the best out and in universe explanations here.

Itchy & Scratchy Land
S06E04
"Itchy & Scratchy Land" is the fourth episode of The Simpsons' sixth season. It first aired on the Fox network in the United States on October 2, 1994.[3] Wanting a perfect family vacation, the Simpson family visits Itchy & Scratchy Land. It was written by John Swartzwelder and directed by Wes Archer.

Moving Ratings were a bit different in the early 80's. There was no PG-13 until 1984. I mean Gremlins has the whole scene with a blender and a microwave and other moments pretty scary for kids, but it was still PG. Even the Goonies got away with a few things as a PG movie that would be Pg-13 today and it was released in 1985.
Ray Stevenson tragically passed away just months after filming the Ahsoka series. He leaves a great legacy behind and his last role as Baylan Skoll has quickly become a fan favorite. The question is who will take his place, now that he's gone, because clearly the character must go on.

Sean Bean!!
I personally don't want him replaced. Feels disrespectful to Ray's excellent job as Baylan.
firing someone to replace would be disrespectful, but another actor taking on the role due to a passing doesn't feel the same.
I agree. Imo it would be more disrespectful to just write off the character, making him just a one off antagonist in a sea of media. Honor the legacy he left behind by giving the character the arc he deserves. That’s how I look at it.
exactly. I would think an actor would be happy to see the story being continued.
They need to recast him. The character is too great to just let him go. Ray would want the character to live on imo
This exactly. Of course, it's a hard sell, but I think this is the best course of action. Writing a character off between installments can fall flat if not handled delicately, and Baylan was on a huge quest that could be a bigger threat than Thrawn. You can't sweept that under the rug with an "oh, he died of a heart attack or something."
I honestly think he’s a great actor. But playing the strong silent type didn’t exactly ask a lot of him. In all honesty he had maybe 10-15 mins of total screen time and not many lines. Recasting by far makes the most sense because he’s seemingly to play a role (maybe bigger) next season.
Yeah they kinda advertised him as a primary antagonist in trailers but his role was much smaller than I expected. Still a very important presence to the series and I find his character and journey intriguing, but I agree that they’re more likely setting up a bigger part for him to play moving forward.
They need to give Baylan's story a proper conclusion, not just "Well he's gone now"

Especially with that last shot being the Mortis Gods statues. They can't just build that up and then leave it
I'm thinking they'll need to recast him and finish his quest in S2
Honestly, I HOPE they don't recast him but then deep fake his face onto the new actor.
I hope they just straight up recast him.
yeah, the deepfake stuff is fine for a quick Leia scene like in R1, but for a major character just get us a new actor, we will get over it
Yup.
Dumbledore is a great example
Who is now also sadly gone
I thought the Leia and Tarkin scenes were both ridiculously distracting. I didn't even care that much for Luke in Mandalorian or Hayden's first appearance in episode 4. Hayden didn't need it and it made him look awful at the end of that episode. All of the OG characters are so iconic, they could find a look-a-like actor and handle it. Audiences have been dealing with recasts for whatever reason for a while now.
I think Tarkin looked fine. In fact, I honestly think most of the deepfakes have steered a bit out of Uncanny Valley. Except for Leia in Rogue One. That was not well done in the slightest.
I didn't like Tarkin - for a minute I thought they were going to do the smart thing. He shows up in a reflection. I thought we'd get a quick "only in the reflection cameo" to hide the CGI. Then BAM he was in our face.
The Jedi school luke and the full episode Haden were the first two that haven't been distracting for me.
I agree on all this especially Tarkin. I thought that was pretty bad personally. With Baylan I don’t think a recast is going to be a problem.
😹😹😹
See, she did the cat thing, Hati is a wolf, no wonder she ran 😂
Lucas film and ILM have been on the leading edge of effects in movies since they started. They should be able to achieve better results than 10 year old video game cut scenes. Especially in the theatrical movies. A YouTuber can make better fakes of the characters than industry giants
