Schaeffer being SHD is nowhere in any lore. But it's been shown before that Black Tusk has control of SHD tech and has been working on making more of it usable to non-Agents. Schaeffer likely has some of this at his disposal.

We haven't gotten any word on a new year of content roadmap. Sure, we still have the 3-4 months for Lau's manhunt, but if you compare to Division 1, we're at about the same point as far as content goes, and about as far in time since the game was released. So I'll be surprised if new content is announced instead of the game getting abandoned after Lau dies.

The "unknown" was working with Schaeffer. It's the only part of the lore that ties to the origin of hunters. Natalia Sokolova is confirmed the leader of Black Tusk, or at least a higher-up compared to Schaeffer.
The shady operation is not confirmed to tie to Faye. The reasoning for the BTSU to be on a mission in Coney is unknown, nor why they brought a hunter with them. The coming of the agent (player) was unknown.
Fighting the BTSU itself, his symbol is different because he is, in fact, a rogue agent. He uses rogue SHD tech. He is indeed a rogue agent, being part of the first or second wave is unknown, as is his ties to Keener.
Final note: Faye is the only member left alive of the BTSU as of currently.

I don't. He mentioned to Faye in multiple comms "thanks for sticking with the right side." Schaeffer's goal was clear: protect the president. The first wave of agents changed from that, and that is why LMB was after The Division/JTF. Their goal was to protect the president. After the fall of LMB and Black Tusk taking power, The goal of LMB/BT was still to protect the president and restore order.

I've mentioned this in the past, but this game is hyper-realistic when it comes to politics. All of these guns just take the toppings, so you see the most of it.
listen to every comm, every echo, every dialogue, and especially the propaganda broadcasts. Each faction thinks they are sane, and in a way they are (except for hyenas, they are just druggies). The rikers just want to be treated fairly and think of everyone as family, cleaners just want to clean the streets from a virus and start over fresh, LMB/Black Tusk want to protect the president. True sons are just a political organization, wanting everyone to join their side and making enemies along the way. Outcasts want to hurt those who hurt them back, sacrificing people who they find in need of sacrifice. Vengeful, similarly to the Rikers.
Then the rogue agents. Kajika thinks they were betrayed, Parnell wants to know the truth about everything, Conley wants to fulfill the legacy of Joe Ferro, and Dragov just wants a home. Keener wants a fresh beginning, letting nature take control of the balance that human's offset for centuries.
Think about it. Are any of them really wrong? Is anyone wrong? Is there a villain at all here?

As for Sokolova, we don't know who she is yet. Maybe russians are involved and she's their link

Regardless of how they are using their tactics, this entire storyline is merely political. Just multiple forms of government fighting out to see which comes out on top. Ellis and the Black Tusk represent Republic, Civilians/Peacekeepers represent parliamentary Democracy, Hyenas represent oligarchy, outcasts/cleaners represent monarchy, et cetera.

Same as the normal mode spawn. For example you died in DUA legendary you are on the 2nd floor where the btsu robots are. If you trigger the skill you will automatically spawn to the recent opened doors

Interesting thing that happened, A Hunter showed up in the middle of my Sin Eaters bounty (tracking wraith as you know.) the Hunter was mowing down the enemy hyenas while I was firing my bakers dozen at ‘em successfully, flamin bugger used an armor kit and just as I was about to finish em off, disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

During the bounty for dusk “Edward’s Company” A Hunter just popped in the parking lot from out of nowhere as there was a wave of disruption, decided not to shoot them and let ‘em bag a few of those palookas while I was pickin them off with nemesis and then the hunter decided to smoke out and disappear.
This is coincidental that a Hunter just pops in, bags a few and departs, every time, first one I saw while tracking down wraith, now another while tracking Dusk. Gonna Hunt Belfry after and see...
