That someone needs to find another type of game or story then, and the devs shouldn't go out of their way to clarify their baseless theories
I mean, I'm not one to jump to conclusions but, you may be lesbian
Now now, don't jump to conclusions.
Schaffer is such a bro
That recent comm really does show how much personality and heart that he has and seems like he is really down and ready to help us. I’m glad he finally got woken up
now i want a division dating sim
its never clear enough for people that dont even follow the story properly and just think shooting stuff and then at halfway point are like "i dont get it, why we doing this ? whats the point"
most content creators dont even read any dialogue, they just make build, cause thats what people want
so aside from ngn, and ahwkster, and this channel, people dont follow lore
which is understandable to a degree, its a looter shooter, not a jrpg or a datin sim, but still, people just dont understand the story most of the time
Lumping everyone who isn't here+2 others into "don't care abot story" is pretty rude.
I was actualy warned off from joining here back in the day when I mentioned that my focus was on the lore aspects of the game, not so much the shooty+looty parts.
fair but the people who don't have much of an interest in the lore wouldn't be convinced all that much by those tidbits, those who follow it would already be aware of Viper's overall character, so I think for both sides it's a bit redundant. People who know Viper already know who she's interested in, people who don't well, what will they get from her not wanting to date Keener?
people who dont care about lore dont listen to coms
Lyfe, don't bother. They haven't stopped bringing up the "date keener" thing, even though it was a throw-away line at the end of a single comm.
yes and those that care will listen and they will be aware of Viper's character from the other better comms describing her
if Lyfe wants to reply, Lyfe can reply, no need to act as if I am stinking up the channel
Make sure that the ping is off when a mod's name is set to red.
Wait is bro trying to say that Viper is straight or Bi?
Bro worrying about the sexuality of a character in a game where the world has gone to hell in a hand basket is wild. There are much bigger issues in game gameplay and lore wise than who viper sleeps next to.
Not exactly. He was arguing that having comms where a character discuss their personal life feels like a filler to him when said comms involve the Manhunt's story
who would win a named rogue agent or a named hunter?
is one better then the other or is it a 50/50
It's a 50/50 and it depends on how a Rogue Agent and a Hunter fight their opponent.
Ok, so from my understanding each tom clancy story takes place somewhat in it's own universe, reality, whatever, but in wildlands we got a crossover with rainbow six seige, splinter cell, hell even predator, so I guess my question is thus, is The Division in its own universe, or are we going to get ghosts teams popping up at some point, because God i would love to see a ghost team just... go in this type of environment
The Division is its own universe
Honestly, a little sad, but also a little relieved. Kinda don't wanna fight a predator in an urban environment like that
I like to think in the overall Tom Clancy's universe, the Division does exist, but it's very top secret that no average US person knows about them
True, but I feel with the tip of the spear top tier units would know about the Division, or at least have the knowledge that the organization exists
The ghosts knew about Sam fisher, that was the splinter cell crossover er had
Dawg
Not even the top officials knew about the division
Mainly the potus and a few selected
So I don't think ghost or any other organization would even know
Hell
I don't even think the CIA knew about them
Either way, you gotta admit, it would be bad ass to see ghosts show up in a final man hunt mission, and just steam roll through the enemy
Majority of them would probably be hunters
Yeah I feel like ghosts would've ended up as black tusk more than anything
I was pretty sure kajika was an ex ghost or sth
Ghosts as in from ghost Recon?
wasn't sam fish a part of a nsa group and the cia could have known i would expect both of those groups to know something its hard to keep a secret from them
crazy theory sam fisher was the first hunter and brought in under false instructions then left and has been on the run or he was the first division agent
crazy i know but it sounds fun also i feel like sam fisher could beat any div agent or hunter or ghost member
Lore accurate sam fisher would've killed all of the black tusk by now so I don't think he's in universe
Maybe he dead from green poison
it would be funny if thoses silly exotic passive were justified in lore
i wanna have a com saying "wow this lmg sure does have infinite ammo, i love science"
I think St.Elmo's Engine's exotic talent would be funnier
And given what you said, it reminds of Destiny 2 Exotics that has lore tabs that talks about them
some exotics do have a bit of lore in it no?
Division 1s gear sets had some lore in their description
i think the later exotics down the game's lifespan stopped having lore on them, but stuff like scorpio and chameleon do have explanation on how they work
not all though, like theres no technological explanation on why regulus just explodes
yeah but destiny has fully embraced the "we magicians now dont ask questions"
division still tries to be somewhat grounded
at the start of div 2 we kept going that way, trying to get something somewhat close to close futuristic scifi
and over time writer just said fk it and gave us random stuff lol
guess chameleon would make sense for adaptive camo but the damage stuff I doubt it can be justified
I'll imagine they just work like regular weapons but fancy designs or trinkets
Probably
Division recruiters could've approached them
But then again, they probably had to sign an NDA
Question, in the division wiki, aaron keeners faction contains black tusks (formerly), when was keener with the Black Tusks?
Briefly during Coney Island when Keener gave them That one Russian science guy
What Cevoi said.
Albeit, Keener gave them Vitaly Tchernenko and waited for us Agents to go in to keep Black Tusk distracted to call in the Cleaners
Yeah he was more using and manipulating them to his own ends
yeah I don't know if it's exactly correct to classify him like that, at best it was just a trade, not alliance
keener always done that, using people to his own ends
there isnt a single person beside theo that he didnt betray at some point or just used to his end
Bro blew up our helicopter in div1 without even giving us a chance 😭
I still have a grudge against him
also that virus attack in Manhattan
it was to "kill embedded agents" but it killed everyone
cant wait for people to find out that keener is actually a bad guy even if he did some good
I feel like he's done way more bad than good. I trust him as far as I can throw him.
Embedded Hunters
#division-tweets So what do ya’ll think happened at the Capitol building? A green poison outbreak?
Or a nuclear winter?
im seeing normal winter tbh
nuclear winter = no sun for thousands of years
also the lobo is for bacteriological threat, not nuclear
Now that I think of it
If this were to be DC survival mode, what would the White House BoO gonna look like? Just the gates closed and all staff having been told to evacuate?
maybe a bombing or leak of DC-62 within it? there's gotta be a huge ☣️ symbol on the tarp for a reason
Could it be a prologue? The surroundings look more worn than a few months of wear, but the tarps throw me off. Why would the people left in washington go out of their way to set something like that up if it were a year into the pandemic?
I think that would be a bit tricky, as it wouldn't make sense to take our current characters back in time like that. Would also maybe feel a little odd to jump back and forth around the timeline like that. I guess it could establish that it's not the same character as our current ones, but even that would be a bit odd imo. I do agree the tarp being there is a bit of a headscratcher too, as that indicates people would've a) had to spend the effort putting that up and B) would indicate it's a quarantined area, when it's not currently. Unless the tarp just blew over in the wind from somewhere else 😆
random idea what if we go back intime to stop teh virus
but keener or the lady we are trying to stop or cal does and the viirus is stopped but they take over part of teh country
stupid idea i know
time travel is always a bad idea
story wise its 99% of the time the work around of lazy people
if your story isnt centered around time travel, you dont put time travel in your story
agreed
There is no time travel and anyone who believes the teaser image is set in the past is delusional
We are just approaching the next winter, that's it guys, stop believing weird stuff
There is no way we talking about time travel or nuclear winter
Alright.. no nuclear winter... no time travel... whats next on the list... uhh... Oh! Aliens
😱
I'm surprised there no follow up on the lore after the raids
The raids were kind of enclosed, stories end with the players beating the raid
Is it possible the tarp just blew up there during a storm and got stuck?
See, I was thinking it's a "what if" scenario, where the Outcasts or whomever won.
But Kettle has it: windy tarp.
could also be it's a Descent simulation type of thing to train us for the coming winter or something, the simulation aspect could be a way for them to bring something like survival and have it make sense too
I'm hoping it's more like what was in ac shadows with the changing seasons. As soon as I saw that in ac, thought it'd work perfectly for div. Although didn't think we'd see it til div 3
If outcasts won: Mandatory Infection booths
Children indoctrinated: We deserve to die because we were safe and healthy while the saints(outcasts) suffered
Statue of Liberty replaced with emmeline shaw
Churches worshipping virus as the great equalizer
And "The Scar" controlling Disneyland
that would be great but it's a lot of work to change the map for each season, I assume they might use the simulation angle for modes set in other seasons
Seeing how unpopular the descent mode is, def not, or at least not in this state
how descent is seen is irrelevant, one of the issues with survival coming to 2 was that it is summer, would not have the same mechanics
but a simulation can fix that, in terms of lore
yeah, but descent is bad
Bad or not, the audio logs we got from it are still relevant
@torn shoal Irrelevant to this channel.
isnt it relevant to what next lore content we might get ?
Your pesonal opinion on the quality of a mode has nothing to do with the direction that div lore takes, funnily enough.
obv not, but popularity does
If that was the case, they wouldn't be seemingly hinting at Survival.
Now, back to the hard lore talk.
if frank castle also known as punisher suddenly stumble upon into the division universe do you guys think he survives?
if he doesnt have the usual plot armor, not a chance, he gonna die fast, either from the flu, or lack of support
What damaged capitol's dome?
no info for now, we can only speculate
AA guns?
i mean half the capitol is destroyed but so is the rest of the city, so at this point anything could be the reason
booby traps going during the true sons stronghold. Leaves the hole in the roof you rappel back down before the final encounter
Finished transcripting Brooklyn: Bridge comms.
right
Finished transcripting Brooklyn: Friendly comms
You'd think some people watch where they're posting
most people dont even watch big signaling posts
and even when they do, they like "i dont understand what that mean"
Show me where it says that rather than getting smart about it... try not sitting on a imaginary thorn next time.
"Anything relating to the extended universe of The Divison" - literally all it says. So shush NotSoSmartyPants.
or you could, you know, read the channels and/or the rules to find out yourself
this aint preschool anymore, you gotta act like a normal human being
Yet u can't seem to communicate like a normal human being.it was as simple as what Rivens commented to get past it. Not ur snarky silly comment. Again go read the channel info. Rather than posting on lfg as it's not really lfg for anything in particular more as a simple favour I assumed it'd be best here. Yet u decided to get ur nickers in a twist darling. Just relax and go have some food you'll feel better.... I hope. Unless it's just ur ugly personality that's shining through. Peace ✌️
it's spelt "knickers"
Wanna correct my "u" too?
Not really
Everyone: shut up.
All 9 Brooklyn: History comms transcripted.
i still dont get it how did aaron kenner still alive didnt we kill him in nyc? (still confuse about it though even tough i played it)
it was a decoy, its explained in kelso manhunt iirc
so like the decoy in brookyln? the cgi thingy?
where they create fake scene
more like theo's decoy
Theo's Manhunt. Y6S2
ah i got it
Are our agent mute? They never speak and we even have emotes with words in sign language
No but they have the Gordon Freeman syndrome
I like to think they are, but I have a feeling that yeah, it's a case where we're meant to be responding as the player, not ingame.
Faye talked about the agent as 'silent, but always listening' or something among those lines.
I like to think they just don't talk much when 'in the zone' during missions 😁
could be funny if at some point we got the agent to talk to say something that indicate they dont talk cause they dont care they just got into shd cause they got good dental care plan in the first place
I always assumed that eventually it would pull a Destiny 2, and have us say like, a line.
They've already done the setup beforehand with making jokes about us being quiet, also like des2.
or have some new character point out the agent's muteness only for manny or kelso to chime in saying they get really talkative after a few drinks
I talk poop to the screen all the time. In my head, they just ignore it.
Well. There is no need to say anything while commiting genocide or listening to orders
We're more like the strong, silent type
I'll be a little late in summarizing this week's comms, so watch that space.
Descent comm 94, The Strategist.
||Theo Parnell and Jessica Kandel discuss about Harlan Lloyd, aka The Strategist. Kandel saw him as nothing more than a paper pusher, though Parnell argues Lloyd knew what he was doing, as he tried to create a vaccine using an symptomatic carrier, even suggesting Donovan Tower who was stationed at Nelson (probably a medical center) to do the same approach.||
||Kandel counters the argument, saying those people were either monsters or idiots, and asks Parnell if he ever heard about the NSA's Detention Center. Parnell recalls correctly that it involved an asymptomatic carrier who infected the whole center, then the True Sons and tortured that carrier to develop a cure.||
||Kandel's point is that people like the True Sons, Lloyd, and Tower, tried to create a vaccine through "Ends justifies the means". Kandel refuses to torture people, just so she can develop a cure.||
well kandel is right
cant wait for peopel to say "yeah but to save people lives torture is fine" and completely miss the point
Manhunt comm 5, The Traitor.
||Manny Ortega and Bardon Schaeffer discuss about the ECHO we recovered from the end of Y6S3, where Schaeffer is surprised that President Ellis willingly gave the clearance to Faye. He admits that he never liked "Chickenhawk", but still respects the fact that he tried to do the right thing to fix the mess he created.||
||Manny was puzzled for a bit, though Schaeffer retorted that Ellis was a Speaker of the House, who made a deal with the devil. Manny insists that Natalya Sokolova is not the devil, which led to Schaeffer asking him what's the greatest trick the devil ever played.||
||Manny thought the answer was Capitalism, but Schaeffer corrected him and mentioned Lucifer, God's fallen son, where the parallel is that Nat took her father's kingdom, before he could replace her.||
||This made Manny realize he was referring to Nat's dead half-brother, Felix. When Schaeffer asked about Felix's status, Manny confirms that Division agents were tricked to kill Felix and "kill" Bridgette Douglas before they got to Faye.||
||Schaeffer asks Manny if he still thinks Nat is not the devil. Manny believes that, saying that she's a traitor, and traitors can be held accountable or killed.||
well manny is right too here
Yeah. At the end of the day, Natalya is a human, no matter how she fashions herself beyond that
With NGN busy with life and raising kids, it feels like I'm carrying a big weight
if you want i can make youtube videos to pick up where ngn left but imma def butcher 80% of the words with my accent
pick your poison lmao, more work to do or your ears bleeding
Good luck holding Nat accountable for her actions
well, we can, we def are outmatch with bt as a whole, but we only need to be successful once in taking her down, she has to be successful everytime to survive
I like to believe the memento is
I run it with a hunter’s fury build, which as much as people say otherwise, Hunter’s is what the Hunters use
I think I'll settle with work to do lol

This weeks manhunt audio sadly confirmed something I didn’t wanna hear, ||viper is dead since manny talked about how we were tricked into killing her by Nat. So sadly I think viper is dead dead ||
didnt we had a bet about this ?
Yeah, I'm not convinced considering that Descent comm from Y6S2 ||where she and Keener discussed whetehr to recruit Birdie. How the f*** would she know that Birdie was moved to the Castle Settlement at the end of Y5S2, if she's supposedly dead?||
I took the quadcopter being named after her as confirmation.
Yeah, I doubt that's enough confirmation
Honestly, I could ask Lauren Stone, the narrative director for the game, but I doubt she'll answer to a tweet, much less a DM
Well, I sent a DM to Lauren Stone about Viper and her status. Doubt I get an answer, and I'm more likely to get blocked by her lol
Unless you're disrespectful, no reason to block you I think, so idk if she gonna take the time to search the answer
As this conversation is clearly meant for a PM, let's move it on over.
Well, I did get some answers from Lauren.
That's all I will say here.
I'm going to count that as datamining.
My lips are 🤐
Thats cool that she responded
Yeah, I'm geeked about it ;D
Anyways, your ol'Hawkster needs his sleep.
Catch y'all tomorrow
im curious now
I wonder if our agent was being tested during hidden alliances instead of Jack
It's possible.
No way Bonney was gonna win
Tested in what way?
If they were hunter material
Cuz why would they allow Bonney to have all this manpower
Plus our agent was being watched more then Bonney
if you die to the next Hunter in the tanker manhunt mission, the quote is “You should’ve let us recruit you.”
so yes that was implied
even though the Hunters never actually made any offer of recruitment herp de derp
Oh, really?
yeah the "surprise" hunters in actual missions (not open world) have a special interaction, if you die to them you dont get to fight them after respawn, just a normal wave of npc, you only get 1 shot
like on coney island or stranded tanker
I always thought they tried to recruit us when we answered agent Edwards distress call, because that hunter could just kill us, instead he shocked us like screw this, and ran away.
They sure have a funny way of displaying it
@sudden mortar gahhhh my curiousity is driving me wild about what could've been said hahaha
Uhhh
And what I have to do with this?
Pinging by accident, I'd imagine
My apologies not sure why that tagged you....
Well tagging a user that you could reasonably mistake for a bit is a decent reason.
Just to clarify: there is no ANNA bot here, and tagging the ISAC one does nothing, but is also not suggested.
Like I said I'm not sure why it tagged that user I clicked on the comment I was replying to, clicked reply, wrote said reply, then hit send and then after I exited the app and only saw the mistake when that user repliedto me .... No Worries ladies and gents. It happens I'll make sure my crappy android doesn't do something so colasally stupid ever again... Lmao..
be nicer to androids
I wonder if any of the New York Pizzamasters survived
prob not
I mean, the Green Poison was made to kill 95% of the human population, right?
So I can't imagine any New York pizza masters have survived ground zero.
Hell, we can barely keep the Pentco Power Plants stable
Who is the cabal?
some illuminati
Shadow organization that Natalya is a member of.
U say cabal I think of command and conquer
Wonder if Richthofen is part of it 🤣
Ohh that’s interesting
I need to start paying attention to the back story 😂
I only really pay attention to what we get from missions. Like cutscenes and dialogue. Missing so many comms from decent or whatever it’s called haha
I checked the Manhunt menu. HVT 1 is available after Scout 7
||Alexander Ortiz I presume||
||Doubt it. Unless someone managed to datamine it||
And in wiki stuff, I've transcripted all 16 Brooklyn: Hostile comms.
I have a fan-made idea in my head for a Black Tusk archetype whose voice lines may or may not be inspired by Halo Infinite's Brute Chieftains
LA LI LU LE LO
@glad spruce No fan-fics, thanks.
Ok
Up to which manhunts should I do before I start B4B
Up to Y6S3
I'm sure some people have figured it out already. But considering our Manhunt scouts objectives involved us securing areas and disrupting enemy activities across D.C, I'd reckon the whole point of them is to ensure extracting our deep-cover asset goes as smooth as possible.
That makes sense
I found it a little strange because
Different from the previous two...
Yeah, Y6S2/Y6S3 was about following the breadcrumbs.
Although, Y6S3 mostly involved us learning the truth about Faye Lau , the Cassandra mission, and what "Key" that Schaeffer is supposed to unlock.
I do like how they're different thematically at least, that's a nice touch
Very strange that the vast majority of you aren't giving story feedback in the channel below... I'm still writing something, I had to create a second character to go over and spot the hidden changes again...
I wonder what's the story behind us fighting in the conflict maps
It's basically us securing different areas across DC from the Rogues
@true fox Pardon?
That's because most people on this server don't care much for the story
@glad spruce Drop the smug attitude, people interact with different things in different ways.
Sorry. Won't happen again
I was referring to you all in this channel only—everyone who had engaged with everything that’s happened in the storyline so far, before the suggestions channel below even existed. I assumed you were doing a good job over there
But there's almost nothing there—I found it strange, it seems like everyone gave up.
In all seriousness, for anyone who kept up with the lore, there's nothing much to talk about atm.
We know how we can hear Black Tusk over the comms. We know our mission against Black Tusk and the Hunters is about.
We know how Cleaners and Rikers managed to cause a reign of terror on Brooklyn
And we know that our mission this season involves us securing areas to extract our deep cover asset, so not much to talk about.
Hell, I'll gladly answer people's questions if they want.
But for the most part, my job here involves summarizing the weekly Descent comms for those who aren't able to catch up.
And the weekly Manhunt comms for those who don't bother
Perfect, I get that. Even I haven’t been able to suggest anything new—not because we already know and follow everything thanks to you, but because of all the past issues and changes. I've been replaying and writing, trying to come up with some idea, no matter how small, during my free time.
Hmm, maybe a series of comms about the current status of Division agents across the country could be a good idea.
Tbh there isnt much to say about it
Beside "this part is good and this one is bad", what feed back you wanna give to the story that almost nobody cares about + is inconsistent in the first place
Also, I'm pretty sure most people would agree that having fully playable Legacy Manhunts is a better way for lapsed/new players to catch up on the story
Lately the story took a turn that officially said "fk it now we aim for completely wack stuff, cause it's fun/easy to understand"
Most player dont care about the lore, they wanna shoot stuff
Sure
I wish we had a full fledged story with important stuff but the game doesnt allow it
Writers atm are doing what they can with the limited tools they have
What feed back can I bring beside "let the writers do whatever they want for once"
Doesn't help there's people acting like the story is trying to redeem Keener.
I'd go even further and say the proper move would be to make it so you HAVE to play through the old seasons as a form of progression to get to the current one
tbf that's like the most average read you can get from what the game gives us especially for new/returning players
That's actually a good idea.
Would give proper direction for new/returning players on where to follow the story.
Us shaking hands certainly doesn't help the assumption.
a lot of people quit after beating WoNY so coming from keener wants to genocide new york to

yay we're working with keener and theo now and they're telling us what to do is such an extreme gap that you're left wondering why the hell this is happening and why is keener "good" now
it's jarring enough that he's alive (even if the explanation makes sense) but the step from being alive to seemingly being "good" is wayyyyy bigger than him just being alive
It's even more than that. Going from the end of div1 where Keener was talking about selling bio-weapons to the highest bidder, to him basically being Thanos-lite in WONY to us giving him a high-five at that Manhunt is a weird series of events for the average person.
I cant lie theo's line about how "we don't do that anymore" when it comes to bio warfare for seemingly no reason is as dumb as kelsos line in the start of WoNY about how it could happen anywhere
I might've missed it, but is there ever an explanation about what happened at the start of WONY, with them gassing that base?
Frankly, Natalya's Black Tusk and Cal's Hunters are a bigger danger than what Keener and whatever remains of his team
like what the hell are you talking about we don't do that anymore as if nuking an entire city is just some casual thing yeah we just casually made a super deadly virus just because but we don't do that anymore
Someone else being evil doesn't downgrade the evil of the first set of people.
Killing the Hunters who were embedded there as Division agents
It was two bases. Not an entire city.
Wait, so every person at that base was a Hunter, or are we meant to just see the civvies there as acceptable casualties?
Because I am not okay with that.
Not every person. Just the Division agents who were secretely Hunters.
when I see 1 big missile knowing its primed to be a bomb that spreads a virus far I'm not thinking precision
And we destroyed it, so what's the big deal?
"Keener" described it as wiping Manhattan clean, that doesn't sound like it's a precision hit.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That sounds an awful lot like what the True Sons embody, if you catch my deliberately vague meaning.
don't use the H-word, but I mean, it's implied.
also the whole thing about hunters at city hall as you've admitted isn't even real story 😭
I don't get why the DLCs have some of the coolest ideas but also the lowest of low story writing at points
I'll NEVER be over faye saying at the start of WoNY we should've known keener was building a bio weapon like what the hell are you talking about
he couldn't have made it less clear
I wouldn't go that far, it just feels a little more like it's focused on putting the new story out, and they'd rather wipe out what came before.
As a writer: I fully understand the urge to do that.
the only way he could have was by mailing you progress updates explaining the process all the time 😭 how did you only realize this after coney island of all places
I get not wanting to animate new scenes every time as that costs money and all that, but the old method of comic slide-show panels that games used to do would work well here, I feel.
For a hilariously bad example, I can highly recommend the Fight Club game (yes it existed)
you were there when he took tchernenko and made it very clear he was gonna force him to make bioweapon! you were there when he sent people to kill us!
brooklyn doesn't hinge on it as much but I feel like WoNY hinges on either us or the enemy being comically stupid to the point of being so out of character that it takes away from the story for a lot of events to happen
Yes.
And right now, I'm more concerned about Nat and her schemes than Keener's past crimes.
It's clear that not even Schaeffer likes Keener, despite being the mastermind of the Rogues grand plan
And yet, Schaeffer is working with us to put an end to Black Tusk and its network
brooklyn is absolutely guilty of it though with hoskins always seeming surprised that an attack on anybody ever could even be a possibility and for a SHD agent it just seems so out of character to the point of being borderline incompetency for the job
I think them having people run through the older stories is good, would make more sense but I feel that it would be good for them to maybe somehow make the previous seasons more compact
so a new player still has the chance to catch up in a meaningful way, but not waste so long dragging through the old stuff
it'd be a very tough balance to get right I'd imagine because it can't be too long but it also can't be too short & overwhelming dropping however many comms at once
yeah I would go for multiple comms at once though in any case, even if 2-3, spread over like 7-8 objectives, not too long but at least somehow related to the theme
and yeah agreed on Brooklyn, it gave me the impression there was a measure of trust or at least peace with the Rikers, but going by their previous actions I would never trust that
so all that surprise at the killers doing killer things was a bit funny
I don't know if I'd call it a surprise.
at least with the true sons and captain lewis we could somewhat trust them because they took steps to build trust but for the rikers and cleaners its been WE HATE EVERYTHING YOU STAND FOR AND WANT YOU DEAD since like minute 1 why would you ever be surprised at an attack especially MONTHS in 😭
not sure if surprise is best term, but I think they should have expected it
yeah it's not a surprise whatsoever but hoskins sure acts shocked as hell in a lot of missions that an attack could even possibly happen
it's the problem with faye in the WoNY comms just presented at the forefront of the DLC
you're in a job where you basically have to be alert 24/7 365 days a year after being activated and then you just go yeah I'm just gonna think we're safe and be super lax about defense in a still active warzone because ?????
for a random settlement leader SURE it could make sense but for a SHD agent it makes no sense whatsoever
yeah I'd sort of get it if the biggest threat around was rioters
but you have the cleaners that are ideologically quite crazy and the rikers that are quite sadistic
but in any case, all-in-all, this DLC was quite great, I expected less but got impressed
Anyways, tomorrow's the sixth scout and the 95th Descent comm.
So I should get ready to collect them and summarize them as soon as possible.
problem is, the story is actually trying to redeem keener right now
im still waiting for the "well achktually i played you like a fool i was always evil"
but there is still no sign of it happenning any time soon
like theo saying "we dont do that anymore" when talking about eclipse like "its one off genocide attempt, give me a break, who never tried to do that in their life"
the zeppellin also was aesthetically pleasing and fun to destroy, but story wise its useless
it also makes no sense for the black tusk whatsoever
and the Manhattan plan never made sense to me, reset one part of New York, when all of it is obviously taken over to what exactly?
also hunters are everywhere not just new york
yes
why would the black tusk of all people not just set mortars/rocket launchers outside of the bridge since it's clearly poorly defended already and flatten it 😭
at some point we gotta just say the story doesnt make any sense and there is no feedback to give
yeah like they already tried in the Coney Island manhunt
hype moments & aura writing fails when the hype moments & aura make so little sense that it takes you out of the experience
can't wait to see what the next big scary completely impractical nonsensical threat is
Out of everything, the Zeppelin is over the line?
yes
tbh yes
the zepplin stands out due to how remarkably stupid it is
Theo doesn't seem alltogether gone or evil, personally if I had to decide I'd have kept Keener dead and made us reach out to Theo, or him to us, to salvage some parts of the rogue network's efforts against BT
It's a zeppelin.
its big and useless
thats why its stupid
Yet you act like it's the end of the world
I act like it's an extremely stupid thing to add to the story
its not only the zeppelin, its everything going on the same stupid direction
Uh-huh
zeppelins have always been pointless and it comes off as an attempt to do razorback but bigger and scarier
the zeppelin is just the most obvious and stupid one
the boss Marauder with the new weapons would have made more sense as the actual enemy imo
Next, you wanna tell me that Black Tusk are our allies and we should support them
sure man
litterally marauders are more effective than zeppelin
why not just mortar the place
It's a fkin zeppelin.
Not the end of the world
the bridge sucks at defense you could wipe it out so easy
but its everything like that, zeppeling is just the most obvious one
it's an extremely stupid part of the story
You act like its very existence is giving you an ulcer
the weapons on it seems like a sort of railgun, ptentially much more dangerous than miniguns and even rockets, maybe boosts its size and add more weapons on it, and that would DEFINITELY be a realistic threat
its the shark jump of the division
litterally when it poped on screen i thought "ok so we just dont give a f now"
So, kook
Organization and correction
just because someone disagrees on the story doesn't mean they're thinking it's the end of the world
not gonna retcon everything we dont like
Honestly, I'm getting tired of being constantly insulted for being invested in the story
nobody is insulting you ?
I have my gripes with the story but I am not insulting you over it
you can like the story, even if its bad, i like bad movies too, its not an insult, we just talk about the story and its flaws
there's a big difference between being invested and acting like anyone who disagrees with your view on the story thinks that not only does the story suck but you suck as well by extension
the division is def on the part of "stupid story but fun gameplay if you dont look too much into it" of the spectrum
visually speaking, the Brooklyn missions to me are even better than the Manhattan missions, so logic or not, that part they really nailed
I think investing into whether a story is realistic is a waste of time
not all games need a good story, but if we talk about story, we gotta be objective about it
not talking about it being realistic, but about it not breaking immersion
Very much disagree with that.
I dislike aspects of the current story, but I don't think that all of the games story is bad.
it's not that it's realistic or not it's that the story is becoming rapidly out of character
well the thing is here, Division as a universe is quite grounded overall compared to many others, so I guess that's why people pick on it more
yeah on my first run it's REALLY cool to see a zeppelin but on the second run it's like wait why would the BT who have the capability to just bomb the hell out of places using mortars and rocket launchers use this for this purpose
It’s not rewriting things
this isn't a far future game or a game with paranormal elements where you can write off details more easily, so people observe the inconsistencies more because the game is of that nature
in story there is the willing suspension of disbelief, story doesnt have to be realistic for you to be invested in it, and the division clearly throwed that out the windows in the first game, but it was consistent in its writing
in div 2 the consistency clearly was throwed out too
I'll be sure not to share with you guys my writing when it's all said and done
in a story were magic exist, i wont say "its unrealistic cause magic doesnt exist", but i want a rule set that does make it interesting instead of just "poof magic spell and im saved"
If it's a fan-fic, this isn't the channel for it anyway.
the division is def not realistic, but it does need to be consistent
and right now its all but consistent
yeah it's not realistic, but it's very close to realism
I would say that's one aspect that makes it unique, it's very grounded overall to many other games like this
it's realistic like how siege or battlefield/cod are you just have to squint your eyes enough to go yeah sure that makes sense I can see that happening/being a thing
you can have a full fantasy story very grounded, thats unrelated
just dont take your public for stupid people, and write as if they had a brain to think about it
well I mean grounded as in it's like a variation of our world, there's tech but it's not far fetched and it's in our present times
its like thoses cop movies where the detective has to circle the name of the killer 5 times to connect the dot, as if we were that much stupid to not be able to do it on our own
so we expect it to work by our rules and the characters to act by how they were written, the Zeppelin makes little tactical sense compared to using artillery or something like that
Drib can attest to this from the edit log for messages: some people are that dumb.
Lots of people.
hell thinking on it now as outlandish as the hovercraft are it still makes more sense for them to take one down the east river and bomb them from there 😭
obviously some people are that dumb, but if you tone down your story to that level, then people gonna complain that the story is dumb and then your feedback gonna be "bad story"
good story arent remembered cause they work on dumb people, but because they were interesting and didnt think the reader was dumb
Okay, so from my understanding of this talk, is that you guys wanted The Bridge destroyed?
That is the most intro-to-philosophy answer I've ever read.
I think a small but effective change would have been to make Army Terminal a factory for a new version of Marauders and focus on the Marauder as the final boss
no, we want story to make sense :
if you wanna introduce a zeppelin, make it work story wise, its like briging a knife to a gun fight, it doesnt make sense, and people just gonna think "yo this guy stupid for not having a gun" when the knife guy get shot
not at all I want the threat to the bridge to make actual sense with the organization thats attacking them and a zepplin being made by a "modern" day PMC makes utterly no sense especially considering they have a ton of different options that are way more practical
This may have been answered already in the story, but is there any reason given why Marauder Drones are suddenly being made elsewhere, when they're from DARPA originally?
black tusk being the most powerful faction make sense story wise, they have the numbers, the weapons, the connections, etc
if you then act like they cant do anything, then you break immersion
We see them in development at the lab.
I assumed the prototype was made at DARPA and BT bought it out and made their own factories for it
Correct
like with the dogs
I wouldn't want to see the rikers or hyenas with an actual tank but I do like seeing them with APCs because it makes more sense and is more practical
and the Marauders make sense, they're big and bulky yes, but quite good for urban combat, can fit many weapon types and it fits their mechanized combat tactics
The tech was developed at DARPA, like the drones/turrets, etc, etc.
So BT just stole the design I guess?
stole or bought
Okay, but the Rikers gained the upper hand on the Bridge attack because their leader was a former member and knew its automated defenses inside and out
I assumed they just took it when they broke in originally.
That's why there's 2 Marauders during the OG mission.
And a giant Turret that I am still waiting for.
anyway, all of that to say, there isnt much feedback to give story wise
well if we count the ones appearing around DC on patrol and the mission ones, I think they definitely can manufacture them, also considering Natalya was able to bid on the AI tech means she probably had access to acquiring this sort of tech too
Your feedback isn't necessary, and in most cases: feedback from just anyone is detrimental to the story.
What people say they want is rarely what is needed.
Also, the fact that a large percent of the Division's story is told in flashbacks through the form of audio logs
cutscenes cost money
I think it's not always good to take player's feedback word to word, but usually you can see an overall like or disdain about certain parts of the game, so they can go from there
Some kind of assertion that our playable-character isn't the actual main character would go a long way to helping out here.
I'm going to use Darktide as an example, as it's my obsession lately. But in that story: you aren't the MC, you're just another face.
i mean at some point, you gotta acknowledge who's your playerbase
yeah you're part of a rare group of people who survive there because I think canonically most die, but it makes the story easier when it's not your character having to be in the middle of it
and i dont think most div players really either care or are interested in this
I think the fact that BFB's story referred to us as The D.C Agent a few times is pretty neat
Every time we get called the "Sherriff", I do picture us in a kids Halloween costume, complete with plastic hat and gun.
For my agent, I call her Tempest
i used to cosplay zorro when i was a kid
i thought he was more interesting than playing sheriff
well the original Sheriff thing was Manny's idea and it sort of stuck because we do kinda act like one lol
This is probably a cultural thing, but I never understood the cowboy appeal.
well the wild west took a sort of light-mythological aspect
My countries most famous outlaw was too dumb to wear leg armour and subsequently: got shot in the knees.
The shine has been somewhat taken off them.
so it makes sense, folk myth that stuck around
google "ned kelly" if you want a laugh
it's all about that gunslinger that fights crime, wins against the odds and saves the town sort of story
At the end of the day, I'm invested in the Division 2's story and nothing will change my mind on thatm
i mean, good for you, if you enjoy it you shouldnt let anyone ruin your fun
well none of what we say should change that, if it's entertaining that's what counts
and while I nitpick it I still like to keep up with it too
Fitzpatrick incident
"My bad bro"
yeah we just wished it was taken more seriously by the writers
I do love just how dumb so many of them were.
well most outlaws were kinda stupid lmao, looking for the easy way into wealth
our biggest rebellion: most went home and got drunk. Fills you with patriotic pride, that does.
ours was a bit more bloody lmao
overall, while to me it has flaws, it is a bit more difficult to write a totally grounded and realistic story in a game that's meant to go on and on, so I kinda get it they have to give you that visual wow even if it might break some immersion to those of us invested in the story, because it's still a game at the end of the day
it's also not the worst out there because it didn't give itself too many excuses like magic/paranormal/far future science fiction, so it's a bit more limited in some ways
so while a the zeppelin might not make most sense, it's not like they came up with a Black Tusk mecha or something
just hope they don't go overboard with the new strand about the fakes
I think they already opened Pandora's box about deepfakes with Descent simulation program being a thing
tbh i would have prefered a fully fledged mech
like go all the way with gundam/evangelion references
it would still be stupid, but the wow factor would just erase that
I don't mind it being used a bit to show us how powerful or devious they might be, but I just hope it doesn't go the way of completely rewriting past events
Mechs are both fairly reslistic for the near future, and mostly impractical as it still requires an actual person.
I'm sure Nat will go for it, since she's willing to do whatever it takes to take us down
bonus points if they go for the titanfall 2 mechs
not sure about mechs, the world seems more so going towards aerial drones nowadays
Autonomous drones are almost certainly going to be the future in the story, I mean, ANNA has already been added in.
we already have drones tbh, marauders, etc
a mech would just be a more dangerous and flexible tank, but drones already provide a big danger to tanks
Exactly, so why go backwards?
Mechs are silly, inherently. I like Aliens as much as anyone else, but I do not see them being a part of div2's enemy design.
yeah titans/mechs are a fun thing, but they def are unrealistic af, they exist only for the wow factor
but i understand they are a pain to animate/create/design/etc
what role the zeppelin would have fit better is a mobile command center or making it somehow like a command center for stations on the ground, not for direct combat or anything
its no coincidence most artists that take commission refuse mech commissions (and furry but thats another topic)
Some artists do mech commissions or draw mechs.
I couldn't help but notice in my last few runs with Refinery mission, the Warhound Violet, does barking sounds
yeah but their price is wack lol
I recently paid an expensive comm for a character sheet.
Mainly for the sci-fi armor design.
Anyways, back to discussing Div lore
Manhunt comm 6, The Cyclops.
||Manny and Schaeffer discuss the code names, particularly Faye Lau's codename at the time, in which Schaeffer tells him not to call her The Cyclops.||
||Manny tries to make the difference between Faye Lau Cassandra and Kelso Cassandra, only to give up and admit he hates these codenames. Schaeffer agrees, calling them the worst.||
||Manny then asks why he puts up with them, so Schaeffer answers that as much as he hates the code names, he concedes that Keener was right about how necessary they are, as a way to not let Nat know they're up to.||
||Doing that clandestine stuff, taking down the powers that be... Code names are necessary. But as Schaeffer said, the codenames Keener and his Rogues came up with just suck||
||Manny then makes a dad joke about how "Glasses" is too on the nose, which amused Schaeffer, though suggested him to dial back the dad jokes by 15% as he's not a dad yet.||
Descent comm 95, Tower.
||Theo Parnell and Jessica Kandel discuss Donovan Tower, where Kandel mentions that Tower is not a doctor. Parnell asks if he's a soldier, though Kandel corrects him that Donovan was a PMC, private security for Nelson. A gun for hire. And the rudest mofo she ever had the displeasure of talking to when being asked about updates on the BSAVs||
||Sheriff Clearing throat in the corner||
In fairness, we haven't been called Sheriff for a very long time
At first, I thought ||Nelson was the new name for Silver Creek.||
But from the way ||Kandel describes it, Nelson sounds more like a company than a town.||
Today I learnt that the dangerous Arron keener is a stock Trader
Was a stock trader
I was listening to some Reign of Fire comms, and Summers was mentioned on the list of people having access, but from the whole list, Manny, Kelso, Lewish and Summers, he's the only minor character
but the comms seem to imply Lewish might turn, not Summers, but still and interesting tidbit
this talks about how a cook was apprehended, I wonder if Summers was similarly caught and coerced into this, or maybe forced?
I was thinking that Summers might've been converted when Black Tusk raided the White House
it's possible, I assume we might get some info on it or speculation from the season's audio logs
think he has any bitcoin?
He sent Dragov to Wall Street to check his stocks for him, so probably
Unless I'm mistaken, wasn't he a Futures Trader, not a Stock?
I know the difference is subtle, but it is there.
yeah there it is, paraphrased: "as a former Futures Trader, Keener always believed he was the smartest man in the room".
Yes, he’s a futures trader
He did invest in some bitcoin using the signing bonus after being recruited to the Division
I just refer to him as "the money guy"
yall think Keener saw a dime of that investment before the flu?
It's noted that he lost all his money.
Which is my head-canon reason for him doing the Manhattan thing, if it was actually him that is.
reminds me of the show my friends and neighbors, guy work at hedge fund or something but nobody really cares or remember they jsut think "yo wall street guy" when he is never in wall street or doing anything related
Does Rainbow Six/Ghost Recon exist in Division?
Nope, separate universe.
It's best to think of div as a kinda "outside of the rest" thing.
And if they do exist in the Division universe, they're most likely disbanded due to the Green Poison outbreak
the only thing they had in common was the weird 5v5 shooter with all the ubi ip combined
in Far Cry New Dawn, the SHD is mentioned as being activated in response to the nukes in the Splinter Cell plane HQ thing easter egg
in Splinter Cell: Dragonfire, Amherst is iirc killed by an Echelon operative in an alley
so, The Division and Splinter Cell are connected
don't forget about the div2 airdrops that were in ghost recon wildlands 👴
Do you remember what the name of the mission was that SHD is mentioned in?
I'm pretty sure that wasn't a mission and more of a set of collectibles
I understand, if you got this collectible, please say its name when possible.
Thanks
They probably exist in a multiverse-al way.
Division might exist in other TC universe but the outbreak never happened...
Each game is its own 'main' story.
Do we know who the hunters are yet?
Yes.
They work on behalf of Calvin McManus, Secretary of Homeland Security. And a lot of them are secretly embedded as Division agents.
Their mission involves being watch dogs at Division agents and eliminating them if they become a problem.
Although, truthfully, Hunters are dispatched to eliminate any Agent that stands in Cal's way
Not just the audio drama.
But also a book trilogy written by Thomas Parrott. And in my opinion, he did the best depiction of how Division agents would engage in combat if they were in real life.
Is it just me or Brandon Schaeffer seems like so chill? I mean he was ONCE a bad guy but right now he seems chill and he also comfort Manny being nervous about being a dad for a first time
Almost too chill..
he was a double agent
That's because Schaeffer is our ally.
He had his doubts about Natalya, and his suspicions were confirmed when Faye Lau told him the truth. About Calvin McManus, the Hunters, etc...
danggg
how do they fight? ambushes?
What you'd expect how Division agents actually fight.
Their skills are a force multiplier.
A little box that shoots, while somewhat effective in game, is probably multiplied in effectiveness irl
Exactly
That’s actually super fascinating
Exactly the same as in the game
Except they don't foam enemies as soon as they come out of the door or just stay in the open and do Striker stacks 😛
What ??? You mean striker doesnt exist irl ??? Im shocked and disappointed by ubisoft
books =/= irl
Some gears are modified by the agents, what u expect an upside down magazine on their vest. lol
even Keener likes using Striker
Striker’s is one of the few gear sets that has an actual canonical reason to exist by way of its flavour text. So if Parrott wanted to put it in his works, he could’ve
I actually forgot where or if I remember right, tried looking for the text ingame recently, wasn't it something to do with ISAC being involved?
https://thedivision.fandom.com/wiki/Striker's_Battlegear
You can find the description in this link
There's no problem linking pages from the wiki, is there?
I don't think so, it's not like you're getting benefits from increasing view count or something.
Understood
i mean for lore thats kinda necessary
Tomorrow's the 96th Descent comm and 7th Manhunt comm.
damn in 1 month we gonna get 100th descent comm
they really went far on a mode almost nobody plays
I assume most people get in get out for the comm like imo for the longest time I hated playing the descent because there isn’t any I want to say nuance but it most likely isn’t the word I’m looking because it’s really just the same loadout every for me because the perks I use never get rotated out
Most people dont touch the game mode since most people dont care about coms tbh, very few people care about lore in this game
Well, somebody's gotta do the summaries, regardless of how few, if any, care about the lore at all
i meant in general for the playerbase of descent, not that it doesnt matter
i do care about the lore, but i cba to do descent man, its painfully unfun
Ahem.
What did I already say?
useful info ||Manny is 29||
Leading the JTF skeleton crew and coordinating with the Division in the midst of a post-apocalyptic civil war is rough business
Descent comm 96, Claire.
||Theo Parnell mentions Claire Ortiz, calling her brilliant. Jessica Kandel never heard of her, so Parnell tells her that she's not an agent nor into AI communication systems. whick Kandel.||
||Parnell then suggested to Kandel if she wants her comms upgraded or be given a Division watch and be considered an Agent, which she kindly refused.||
||Back on the topic of Claire, Parnell mentions they got some schematics and could 3D print a new eye for Faye. Kandel doesn't think that's a good idea, commenting that 3D printing messed up Faye's life, even mentioning that she'd stick with the eyepatch, as she doesn't want to blow her cover.||
||Parnell then comments that Natalya would probably force Faye to get a bionic eye, as she doesn't want a less than perfect soldier in her ranks.||
Manhunt comm 7, The Heiress
||Bardon Schaeffer asks Manny Ortega what else he wants to know, in which he answered The Heiress. Specifically, Mackenzie Meret, as discussing about Bridgette Douglas stings Schaeffer too much for him at the moment||
||The first question was Mack's relationship with Natalya Sokolova, which is unrequited, to say the least. Schaeffer explains that Mack could never be the woman Nat wants her to be, further commenting that she's selfish.||
||Manny mentions Mack's philanthropy, though Schaeffer counters that by saying dozen other billioanires are also philanthropists who make their money through child slavery and destroying the planet. A way to show off their good deeds and ignoring their so-called wonderful qualities||
||This led to Manny askng if Mack's stuff are made in sweatshops, but Schaeffer assured him her stuff is ethically sourced and well paid, and Mack cares about groups and is a true philanthropist.||
||Schaeffer mentions Mack's negative qualities, being that she hates individuals.. Manny was still confused, so Schaeffer explains if Mack saves the world, she's a good person. But saving a person, focusing her energy on saving an individual instead of the community and making big systemic decisions, it's a waste of her time.||
||Schaeffer then goes over about how Mack is someone that isn't easily controlled and does what she wants regardless of the consequences.||
||This in contrast with Nat, who's entire personality rests on being in control, and sees Mack's resistance as a challenge to win instead of what it truly is; a toxic relationship stuff no one should ever tolerate. And both women still play these games, despite currently in their 40s.||
||Manny mentions his age, being 29, which amuses Schaeffer as he thought he was 50, then comments that the power of the presidency really does age a man. Despite Manny's protest to the contrary, Schaeffer insists on his notion since Manny is interrogating him in the oval office.||
This week's Manhunt comm is my favorite
It does give some interesting insight into Mack's mindset and Nat's personality
right
We do know very little about them tbh
If you say so
Cuz with comms from the incursion, Y6S1/3, and this season, I already know a lot about Mack and Nat and their personalities.
Angry lesbians moment?
Nah, the real Lesbians were Faye and Bridgette
I miss them so much 🥺
ANNA: I miss Bridge. Faye was good to her. Agent, why do they always fridge the lesbians?
we know them on the surface, we dont know much about them really
Yeah, okay. Sure.
we know a bit more about mack, but nat, its really empty
Agree to disagree.
im not trying to be snarky, just nat feel way more deep than what the informations we got so far, you dont build something that bit out of "im mean"
Let's close the book on that.
hawk u good ?
we can obviously disagree, i dont understand why u close on this discussion
im not trying to be mean
It's not something I wanna argue about and it's getting late.
aight, take care then
Also, I'm too emotionally immature to handle discussions
i def disagree on this, but its fine
There is no way I'm older than Manny.
That's not even a denial thing, it just makes no sense.
I mean the story is supposed to be set in like 2015 ? That would make manny a millenial.
He def look rough for 29 yo tho, he could be 20y older that wouldnt shock me
There is no set date for the story.
Kids theses days look so old
The year has been changed enough that it's safe to say "near future", and go with that.
Yeah I guess
Then manny might gen z or gen alpha, might explain why he is so lost when it comes to talking to people
I just think its part stress and part this version (game launch) of the snowdrop engine is not as good with faces as the newer versions more so the latter
(I am def worse at social interactions)
I just figured he was autistic personally given the toys and even more so now that birdie got featured in some ubisoft blogpost about characters w autism
Oh yeah the faces at wony release were awful too, I remember at haven it was a horror show
launch kelso vs now kelso 😱
It's not official tho, unlike birdie
true true
Tho à lot of autistic arent diagnosed anyway (myself included)
Would be funny if we had a cinematic with birdie clocking him after 3s and saying it, then for him to be lost and talking about how neurotypical he is, just to show how much he aint
I am sticking with that there is no way in hell that Manny is only 29.
early 40's/late 30's maybe.
I like kelso
But she had to go, said it wasn’t safe around here
But def agree that manny is not 29, or 35 if we count it to 2025
Stress def got to him as everyone said
i mean its the apocalypse
everyone is stressed and the bodycount only going up isnt helping
It hasn't actually been the almost 10 years that it has for us, remember the timeline is a lot more condensed.
its been less than a year iirc ?
i know people can show sign of that pretty fast
i know i did lol, half my hair is white now
Out of all things in the game, Manny being 29 yet looks older due to stress is over the line?
Over the line? What are you talking about?
No seriously, what does that even mean?
If this is another "no one loves the lore but me" thing, you really have to cut that out. It's weird.
I mean Kelso is a former CIA paramilitary which is one of the top elite special forces units
Writers like to write overachievers I guess
I always appreciate when someone in a story is an age that makes sense.
Btw, it's weird that the ISAC Intel about the world and the characters never got updated to the current time line of the plot. (It's a feature on the progression menu where you can see information about the characters and the story pre-WONY)
I mean agents are supposed to be the best of the best
And then there's Maira
Who's that ?
Ah thoses "teenagers" in any of thoses teen series/movies really fked up a lot of our perception
I understand the problem of hiring actual teenagers but damn it's annoying
One of the main characters in the Crossroads novels
Oh that's why I never heard of her, what's her deal ?
I mean with so many agent it's bound to have some not so smart guy at some point but still they are supposed to pass the training
Next we gonna find out that Keener is like 19. Theo is 12.
She's a cybersecurity specialist, and her skills help a lot with her fellow Agents
Plz dont give them any ideas to appeal a younger audience this way
Keener's 35. 😄
And Theo is 29, IIRC
Well that's a relief
Damn keener is my age, I should look to get recruited and learn stock trading or something
I missed the nft, I should look into the next scam
Prob some fake ia thing to sell
No disrespect to riven ofc she one of the good ai
(also I prefer Anna to Isac)
I even find it funny that on Keener manhunt, he calls him the little Theo like bro, he is almost the age as you Keener 🤣
Nah, theo is a kid, he like a baby, under 30 is basically a new born
We 30yo people are the adults
My country's income tax and justice system says otherwise but ok lol.
Well mine says something différent for everything lol im not sure that count. Also it's more of a mindset, if you're young of mind you're young, and vice versa, that's why at my age (35) I walk with a cane and pretend everything was better back then in the old days (pré internet)
People playing younger as VA's can muddy the issue as well.
Keeners VA is 50, for example.
Damned I been played
weener
Fun fact: Keener's VA, John Hopkins, also plays a main role in the Hitman World of Assassination trilogy.
And with that, back to the lore
I just know him from Midsummer Murders lol, but he's been in quite a few things. Agreed, lorelore.
@obsidian jay You're gonna have to elaborate that one.
He was making a bad joke about the name Keener sounds like.... uh, yeah
isnt talking about the voice actors kinda in line with the channel ?
Well, talking about random other roles that have nothing to do with div is a stretch, but it's more fine than not, overall.
It's like mentioning The Rookie for Lau. Cool that it's her, but weird that we know that Lau can sing.
i did not know that and im happy that i do now
but i was thinking more about the channel name, its about lore but not just that, so actors kinda fall in this category imo
and other stuff like that, even if its not strickly lore, that is still related
The tricky part is that this server has the tendancy (I'm guilty of this too) to go on incredibly lengthy tangents.
and I find it too interesting to look into VA's for my own good.
any news on division resurgence(mobile) release?
No one knows.
Also, this is the lore channel
the chan does have a tendency for going offtopic
what's the difference?
does issac have a personality i know anna does i think or is she not self aware
@zenith spruce ANNA is hinted heavily at having a sort of sentience, where-as ISAC is basically a speaking clock.
If you like your GPS to back-talk you, then ANNA is your go-go.
then i prefer anna
more useful then manny talking to me about we will send guys to go to your position once you beat the baddies then somehow new guys show up to the building like many sent zero people
like the hyenas and there weapon stockpile like manny get your as if need be to the stockpile and steal the weapons
It should be noted that there's been some very vague hints that ANNA may not be all they claim to, and they like Keener so ya know, points off for that.
damn it anna now i like you less
we lack way too much info, keener is on our side now, but there is no telling how long it will take until he betrays us
theo might stay with us tho
but i dont think keener gonna love staying in jail forever
too bad ima drag his ass back >:(
15 agents dressed like hunters with glowing eyes just chasing him around town
keener won vs every hunter going after him so far, i dont think you gonna win
we also pulled that off adn took out the rogue agents i feel like we have better feats ngl lmao
We got owned by bt overall, not keener
I don't know if "defeated them every time with relative ease" is exactly "getting owned".
can you switch from issac to anna?
It's ISAC and ANNA, and no.
Intelligent System Analytic Computer and Advanced Neural Network Algorithm, respectively.
who would win in an all out war at there peak the hyenas or rikers?
Seeing that Rikers are hardened criminals, and Hyenas are a bunch of junkies, I'mma go for the one that knows what day it is.
This is a lore discussion channel.
Hey im just asking xD sorry it says Safe House Division Universe anything relating to the extended universe of the division so thats why i ask
The quick answer is that we don't know, any news about it will be tweeted out, and there's been none for a while.
In fairness to ANNA, Theo did set her free and worked with the Rogues for quite a while, even using her system to design the Rogue Network
So, it shouldn't be a surprise she's fond of Keener and Theo
Has there been any confirmation that ANNA sees themself as a she, or even as someone who wants to pick?
ANNA herself? Not really. But a couple of characters have been referring her with the female pronoun
Thing we dont know anna's goal, isac is pretty clear(ish), but Anna might be working against isac in the end goal
what are the implications of an AI being sentient for the Division world
like i was under the impression that ANNA's speech pattern was made to be that way rather than it basically gaining sentience
ANNA is too dumb to tell rogue from non rogue, so, maybe not that sentient kek
And this is a problem, how?
The way I see it, the broader Division and whoever else is working for Cal and Nat are the traitors
ain’t that deep hawky
Time for a third ai
his name is steve.
And he speaks in iowan accent
and swears a lot
Just a reminder that Natalya is in her 40s
thats what a good skin care routine gives you
(the skin care routine is war crimes, a lot of them, everyday if possible, ask keener for more info about that)
Is Felix Sokolov an adopted brother? he is only 26 on his old manhunt dossier.
Half-brother.
Same father. Different mothers
Nat's dad remarrying creepily younger does give me a lot more sympathy for her.
i mean, lot of people got a bad childhood, we didnt go the war crime route lol
Speak for yourself.
well, as we say in french, who's alike stay together, so im def not the only one
but we arent some nepo baby thats for sure
Considering aside from Jtf and govt higher ups, Black Tusks are probably the only faction with access to functioning old world internet.
Thus, p_rnography addiction among them could be a problem
Get out more.
Maybe at the end or div 3 or div 2 she would resident evil herself and turn her into an overpowered mutant monster that you can fight
I mean, its a real thibg among north Korean soldiers deployed to ukarine and Talibans in office jobs
And i heard in some military groups, p_rn mags are basically currency
Bruh what
Nice weather we’re having eh
Quite beautiful really, sandstorms by foggy bottom
What the- no, no! You’re not giving me that idea!
Don't encourage Jacobin pls.
He can be... a lot at times
do you think Manny was a Figurine Collector before the Dollar flu
like if he had a Glass case full of action figures
Is there any indication of that outside of needing minatures on the map of DC?
He was an avid figurine collector before the dollar flu hit. In fact, many assume Manny may have managed to motivate Amherst to manufacture the mysterious virus; just so he could give his figurines purpose
That's a hell of a way to boost your collection's value.
"it's a sellers market if I'm the only seller"
His goals are beyond our understanding
now im just imagining any Action figure found in combat that is at least in some sort of good condition, Manny would just nerd out about it haha
Think we'll ever get the Silver Creek map in a future Division expansion/game? Seems an awful waste not to use it.
maybe they’ll use it to save money on div 3
unlikely, we might visit location but they wont reuse the map itself, like they didnt reuse div 1 map for brooklyn dlc
It's possible, but they're more likely to create a new map for it
I can't imagine they didn't make use of the same map for areas they both covered and then just added more around and changed the existing. I always wondered if perhaps they happened to have a larger Brooklyn area built from early Div1 builds. It'd be silly not to make use of content you already have.
No, what's silly is people assuming every decision the dev team makes with the Division 2 is out of malice
I agree. Who did that?
they explained what they did, they started from the ground up, they couldnt use the asset existing
Yeah absolutely assets need to be rebuilt in the new engine, that's pretty common when porting to a new game. But they generally still use old assets as a reference when creating the new ones, because why wouldn't you after all.
Who said that?
Nothing. Forget what I said.
I take criticisms too personally, it seems
Anyways, HVT 1 tomorrow
i wonder what thats gonna be this time
we got the hvt to kill, the hvt to save
i dont think there will be much difference this time tho, not like the game had much possibilities
More likely HVT to kill.
The whole point for this Manhunt is to secure extraction of our deep cover asset
This is why I like Schaeffer as a character, he is straight to the point, specially with the ||STOP APOLOGIZING to Manny||
Manhunt comm 8, The Wingman.
||Manny Ortega and Bardon Schaeffer discuss Bridgette Douglas, with Schaeffer referring her as the best. Ortega describes her as the center in the whole conflict, though Schaeffer refers her as the wingman not just for Keener, but to Nat, and her father.||
||Schaeffer then goes over Douglas, describing her as the pretty thing that no one expected anything from, so she used that to her advantage. She could never be who she wanted to be, so she was what wanted everyone wanted her to be.||
||Manny felt that made Douglas the perfect spy, but Schaeffer disagreed and added that made her as the perfect corporate socialite doll. He then talks how Bridgette towed the line and sacrificed herself for the good of the collective.||
||He then describes how Nat would never sacrifice a moment of unpleasantness unless there was something personal to gain from it.||
||Schaeffer was then asked if he misses Bridgette, which he does, as she was his best friend. And seeing the relationship she had with Faye, it was the kind of thing that made him believe in love. They had something worth fighting for, and we killed it. Every action, big or small, led to their deaths.||
||Manny felt guilt over their deaths and shared an apology. Though that only frustrated Schaeffer, as he told him to stop apologizing.||
i love thoses espionnage stuff cause its everyone being a double agents to the point where you'd think there are more double agents than legit agents lmao
its so stupid and unrealistic but its also so fun
Descent comm 97, ANNA.
||Theo Parnell and Jessica Kandel discussing further about Claire Ortiz, with Kandel understanding that Claire was the one who built ISAC, the Black Tusk network, and SHD Network.||
||Theo describes Claire as a bag of rats in a snake pit when it comes to socializing, though maintains she's a genius.||
||Kandel laments Claire worked with Black Tusk, though Parnell argued that she took pleasure in screwing them over. And without ANNA, they'd be all dead, which led to Kandel asking who is ANNA.||
||Parnell explains who she is, part handler, part databse manager, and the original AI for the SHD tech. This led to Kandel asking why they were using ISAC, which had Parnell suggesting if she even listened to the comms he gave her through the brief.||
||Kandel explained that she didn't have the time listening to them considering they're thousands of hours long.||
i have no idea who the hvt was and why he's important
is it just "might be a menace for kelso" ?
He's just a named enemy who's whole purpose is to draw him out in the open and eliminate him just so we can make extracting our asset less complicated.
I do recall the season's article in the official story said about the story's premise before they changed it due to spoilers.
when everyone’s super a double agent, no one will be
The only double agents that counts are Faye and Bridgette
and Schaeffer
and also the doc that kept him in coma
and ellis somehow
and Lewis
and mcmanus that was supposed to be a good guy that ended with nat
that's a lot of people not being straight
also theo and keener, since they play with us now
Damn not-straights, they ruined straightness!
They do always be fridging the lesbians.
Ellis shouldn't count. He only grew a conscious when he realized how badly he messed up making an alliance with Nat.
And McManus shouldn't count either, so he was always and will always be a snake.
Oh, and Lewis shouldn't count as well. The moment he decided to help us to prevent the alliance between True Sons and Black Tusk, he went turncoat
He also died really stupidly, which I feel should cancel out any benefit he may have given our side.
I'm still not 100% sure on what Lewis actually did for us.
He helped warn us about the alliance and brought up Wally as well as a dozen defectors to our side.
That's a benefit
Okay I am clearly not remembering that part of the story that well.
i genuinely did not recall her being a True Sons, who didn't know about the main thing they're known for, or Castle?
i mean thats the point of the story : you cant trust anyone and everybody is either a double agent or out to get you when they decide to switch sides
thats also the point of the dz in the first place, anybody can turn on you at anytime
Sure
is it any different from thoses good old spy movies where everyone is trying to double cross everyone
thats also the core of thoses clancys books, not related to if they were good or not
Never trusted lewis from the start.
Still dont trust wally
once a true sons, always a true sons
may they burn
What's up division 1 and 2 gamers
people can change u know
if people couldnt change their ways there wouldnt be a need for prison sentences and such
True sons are not people
they are people, thats the most important part : monsters are also people
me too, i want to see them burn
dehumanisation is the first step into doing war crimes
They deserve worse
it doesnt matter what they deserve, they are still people
and people can change, thats just a fact
even keener did
And those who are unwilling to change, I suppose we can hand them to Jacobin so he can "sacrifice" them to "Lady Liberty"....or something
May her be appeased with my offering of blood of the tyrants
if you kill anyone that you dont like or dont think as human, you arent better than thoses tyrants
Alright, what if that person you don't like has killed someone you know or many innocents?
thats what true sons said
I'm not better than them for killing him?
thats why u need a fair justice system, not a "kill on sight anyone i dont like"
thats why death penalty is bad and never worked
if you want peace, you need justice, not retribution, thats always been like that
if you only get retribution, you're a tyrant
it's worked, not everyone can be rehabilitated/saved. They're just a waste of space and tax dollars depending on the extent of the crime.
im not saying everyone can be rehabilitated
I do believe ppl can change just not all
im saying, you cant decide who can and who cant, if you do, you're the tyrant
also if you decide some people arent worth living just cause you dont like them, you're the tyrant
the moment you decide who can or cant be rehabilitated, you're deciding who gets to live or die, thats textbook definition of tyrant
I mean, yeah, if someone unjustifiably dislikes someone over small petty shi, I can understand them being defined as a tyrant
Yeah, you solely being the judge jury and executioner is fcked
it doesnt matter what your justification is
killing people cause you think they are waste is and always will be tyrant behavior, no matter the reason
morals are subjectives, what you think is good might not mean the same to other people
thats why we need a fair justice system, not a "we kill anyone we think is bad" system
Balogna, morals are not always subjective, i.e a child molester is not an acceptable or good person. Is it wrong to think people who object to that are a waste?
thats cause you apply your own moral onto this
which is fine, everyone has them, but they are subjectives, there is no objective morality
its hard to explain this without playing devils advocate, but just imagine that if an animal specie can do horrible stuff, to survive or thrive, its because it has no moral, there is only 1 goal = the species survival, every mean to that end is a good way to go
we have morals cause we have evolved and need to live with each others, not cause they are objective
if you check a bit, you'll see a LOT of people dont share your morals, even some people you might know
yes, even on the darkest stuff
thats why we have current events
if everyone agreed on objective morality, we wouldnt be fighting each other about whats right or wrong
case and point = seeing people as non human for x reason
its morally bad, but its encouraged cause it helps others that dont care about morality to achieve their goals
also, something might morally good, that doesnt mean it is good for people
and vice versa
At the end of the day, the major factions in the Division want to rebuild society. They just disagree on how.
Fallout reference?!?
Maybe. But it's also a fitting line for the entire world, IMO
I guess it depends on what you mean by "major factions".
yeah but each faction has different values and morals
most of them don't value human life at all
even shd, seeing how we treat anyone that doesn't follow the law even tho society doesn't exist anymore
depends, do you consider an art book to be canon?
🤔
I mean if it had any lore behind it
If you're talking about the Crossroads trilogy, then yes, it's canon
so when it all crumbles down, its every man for himself, as they were sent to die with no goal/support/etc
How did the enemies in the factions decide who gets to do what? Like what makes a mf decide one day “yeah I’ll be a glue gunner for the true sons.”
According to Wally, you can just pick what you wanna do.
Which does mean that the True Sons who got to be giant walking tanks picked first, then regretted it due to the heat.
Beats being a glue gunner and knowing one day you could die stuck in goop
I’d assume some had previous experience, like drone ops or medics. Could also be possible they just learned on the job
Why do I think that Anderson is a mole and is sabotaging Natalia's efforts to bring the Division down?
cause you give him too. much credit he can barely make comprehensible sentences
What Lyfe said. He's a coward who'd gladly sell his own soul if it meant keeping his true sons safe
||Also considering both Compromised and Hunted novels take place far ahead of the current Division 2 timeline, Nat ain't dying anytime soon||
i mean nat dying would end the entire div 2 story, so thats for sure not happenning
not until div 3 comes out at least so between 2035 and never o clock
ofc unless they replace her with someone that overthrow her leadership but then does basically the same as her leading bt
but div writers dont like to kill the main vilain ever
they even revived them if necessary lol
I wasn't convinced we killed Keener back in WONY, so there's that.
In one of this season's comms, Schaeffer called Mack as the Wool Queen, like a nickname.
Is that even a real nickname?
idk, youth slang is out of my reach nowadays
im old and cranky and i yell at clouds on regular basis now
IIRC, you're like late 30s
It could be multiple things that could be considered to end the Div2 story line without having to murder Nat:
- Eliminate Anderson
- Eliminate remnant Hyena bosses
- Takedown the Black Tusk Rogue Network (i.e. whatever crew Sarah Moretti & Danvers has been working on), along with Matthew Grant
If anything, it’ll probably end with a cliche of Nat being injured and escaping on a helicopter as a lead-up to Division 3
Could be more alternatives, but I just can’t remember them…
They could also pull an Emeline Shaw on Danvers and make the guy somehow still alive
Yeah, no. Danvers is 100% dead. Unlike Emeline, he died with the Zeppelin
Hopefully he is.
@torn shoal @glad spruce I mean - since they teamed up, BT and TS are at the losing end (for now at least and Sokolova calls TS forces 'nitwits'). That can mean:
- Anderson is just plain stupid and Sokolova is NOT so clever as we assume she is,
- Anderson is a mole working for Keener or McManus who's sabotaging BT's effort and she's not realizing it,
- he wants to kill Sokolova and be the one in charge.
That's just my assumptions so.....
@frosty bluff Or we can just take down McManus
You know what they say about assumptions.
Sometimes it's more fiction than reality
he is just plain stupid
have you seen the true sons so far ? you think they come with a working brain ? x)
@glad spruce I know
McManus might be a little iffy since I feel like they'd want to keep someone of legitimacy from the former US government, but then again, they do keep on implying he wants to be in the Cabal and is just a throwaway. What they could do is throw McManus as bait so Nat can escape. So essentially we either kill him, or BT dumps him.
mcmanus i think will be dumped at some point by bt
he is the key to open the vault iirc atm, but once its done, no reason to keep him
What happened with emeline, I thought she died at manning
Some people thought Emeline died in that boat in Roosevelt Island back in the day before Manning was a thing.
.
Yeah what happened with that, was she never on Roosevelt to begin with?
She was never in that boat. She escaped Roosevelt and set up with her Outcasts at the Zoo as a Stronghold
Wouldn’t the drone operator have spotted her leaving?
She better be dead. The player base must have terminated her a 1000 times over.
What if she comes back, having faked her death, and has amnesia.
Would be mad funny to find out that she also has her own version of the Anna/isac network
i will find her make her remember and kill her in the worst way i can
she has the dumbest (which is an understatement) thought process out of every enemy faction in teh game
i hate her so much
ayo chill
Some people are passionate about the lore, some are too passionate.
And some are just a bit weird.
For the last time, Emeline is dead.
Y'all need to stop being paranoid
Nah she's totally a hologram and we're going to see her driving a van on a bridge next Season.
😂
I still think some people need to get over the fact that Keener and Theo are alive and kicking.
It's been a year since it happened. It's time to let it go.
Idk if keener can really be called “alive and kicking”, he’s kinda rotting in a cell rn
Given that the so called lore is back filled to create an utter farce of a story. Having a channel even to discuss it is somewhere between other enthausitic and out right silly imho. Ubi was ready to terminate this game after ending keener. The hunter has been messed around so much. If few know of what was and are willing to believe what is now said, then perhaps something consistent will emerge to be canon.
actually the last few years were a dream. inside schaeffer's head during his coma
we know the story isn't consistent, but it's fun to talk about it and see where it goes tbh
just cause the writing isn't that good doesn't mean it's not interesting
I agree, from this ubi might direct a more consistent story
ubi doesnt care about story, only writers do
tbh almost no game company cares about story or lore for their game, almost all of them only care about money
Question - what are the odds that the Outcast Strategist is our target now?
Low, given that they said our target is a BT defector
The strategist was kidnapped during the BT raid on the White House but I really can't imagine he's become a trusted BT insider who is secretly wanting to go back to our side.
Also, Schaeffer knows who the defector is, and he was in a coma when that raid happened.
or maybe the strategist is a triple agent, working for bt inside outcast, got extracted by bt after we captured him, now he defect
the chances are as much as me winning the euromillion but i'll take it
@glad spruce Post that again if you like, but really think about what that sounds like, how it comes across.
Unless he had a change of heart during his imprisonment, I have my doubts that Harlan Lloyd would be of any use.
Going off by the base campaign, I did always suspect that something was up with the Strategist. It always felt like there was too much weight given to a random mission boss.
So him having more importance is a genuinely good turn, IMO.
A former beaurucrat turned into a faux-virologist who had contact with Agent Donovan Tower.
Yeah, he's important all right.
I know I shouldn't be complaining about names in a franchise where the main hope for a cure in div1 was called "Kandel", but even the more normal ones feel a bit much sometimes.
There's nothing inherently wrong with "tower", it just feels a little much.
Hi
Hello there.
Are you here to discuss the lore of the Division's universe?
Manny is 29 years old? Damm I thought he was wayyyyy older
The stress of leadership in a post-pandemic D.C chanegs everyone
they should make our character's hair turn more and more gray the higher the SHD level then
We can already change our agent's hair to grey
yeah but making it mandatory for high shd for the laugh
Maybe that should be the April Fool's event next year
or better yet : we get a revive of all dead characters but only agents can see and talk to them
Poor hardcore players haunted by their silent dead characters
she annoys me her boss fight was a pain and also damn her reasoning makes no sense out of everyone who is evil and that is a pet peeve of mine a massive one lol also when i was fighting her i have not the best day so dealing with her yapping while she running away like a coward in her stupid zoo got under my skin lol
You can relax, Alpha. Emeline's been dead for a while now
lol
way people were talking my brain instantly went too is she back again and i wasn't lookin forward to that
imo ridgeway was the best villain in terms of why he was a villain
he made the most sense to me and honestly was kinda charismatic so it makes sense why people followed him
I feel like the Outcasts were supposed to be some religious cult, but none of that is present so they don't have anything beyond revenge.
Considering all they talk about is burning out the blight, they're pretty much a cult
Most games will avoid using religious angles as much as possible, or other potentially firebrand topics, e.g. what True Sons are clearly referencing, some of the Hyenas stuff, etc.
It's hard to blame them, it mostly just causes arguments.
yeah but i dont understand why they went on this whole story line if they wanna avoid thoses topics
its like "yeah we are bold and talk about important stuff but not too much cause we are bold but not that much"
i know its mostly exec decisions to tone down any actual message of the game to sell more, but it just making it bland in the end
cause if your game message is "dont be a bad person" its kind of a very low bar (that somehow battlefield or cod cant pass for some reason, blows mu mind everytime)
we're never gonna have another spec ops the line story, but i sure wish we would
they’re a cult of personality, plenty of them irl
cults or otherwise the charismatic leader is the lynchpin. and the beliefs they sell (ie 1930s germany) are just one part of that control
like the agents doing all the killings are justified cause "we good" and somehow isac knows better than anyone whats moral
we dont even try to arrest people, anyone smuggling medecine ? shoot to kill, no warning
thats not "good guy behavior", yet we are treated as the most moral of whats going on
Yes, because our enemies are ontologically evil
yeah, they are so comically evil, even doing insane unhinged stuff still doesnt raise any eye brow
What are you trying to prove?
that’s just a gameplay thing, division agents are capable of de escalation
that the "lets not bring contentious topics to our game" is out the windows the moment you decide we can do so many war crime it make geneva convention a to do list and not a warning
i mean lyfe still has me blocked so talking to a brick wall trying to apply canon facts to this topic
i know its to not bring heated arguments in conversations
but it just make the story kinda pointless, the character pretty bland, and most of all, it changes the message from "dont be bad" to "if you are good™ you can whatever you want its justified"
which is kinda whats used as justification for all the bad stuff
like, there is a single instance in the game where agents are not treated as litteral saviors, its with the conspiracy electrician at the boo
so the only time the message could change from "you will save the world" to "maybe look yourself in the mirror" is given by a guy you are made sure you cant trust cause he is crazy adjacent
the SHD doesn’t commit many war crimes either as far as i know
Scorpio’s poison rounds but that’s not reallyyyy canon
tear gas grenades/seekers? maybe
but also, the SHD aren’t even a standing military and the laws of war apply differently if at all (hence why police can use gas but not military, for example)
anyway hawk save ur breath, we all know lyfe cares more about headcanon and sensationalism than the actual plot

i use war crime as a broad statement, but using lethal force by the army or any armed official militia on its citizen is basically the same, you're just not technically/officially at war with anyone else, only your own people
thats why military isnt used to police people for example
military is used against enemies of the state, if you use them against your own people, then the people are enemies of the state
there is not a single instance where that went well
its also a sign of stuff we cant talk about here, cause obviously
when ellis betrayed the division at the beginning i thought there would be a message in all of this, but they really turned everything back lol
no contentious topic, only some powers fighting each others
anyway, i hate when execs tone down story messaging so much it becomes empty in gaming, thanks for coming to my ted talk
I had a shower thought about hoe the shd watch works. In order to see the projection on the shd watch, you need to have the scantek contact lenses, no? Moreover, could shd equipment be used without the need of the contact lenses?
These thoughts came up about when I thought of the Lovebirds at Meret and Danver’s rogue network in Brooklyn
you don't need everything an agent have to do your job, especially since most your equipment will get damaged at some point, the watch it the important part to keep safe but that's it, if it's intact it'll do it's job, just less effectively
but I supposed the lovebirds got the whole package anyway
I think we can assume that the Scan-Tek lenses are so you can see HuD, but also don't forget that they charge the watch too.
Or they just charge themselves, but either way: self running.
I love that in post apocalypse, energy is never a problem lol
we somehow got a functioning nuclear plant and no problem of needed material
but like almost all post apo setting do that
They literally work to give a reason that it's not a problem, to avoid complaints like that.
and it's not hard to assume that the Pentco Plant is one of the only functional ones left, at least in range, so they probably just take the material from the others.
yeah, real apocalypse would be way less entertaining obviously
What? I'm disagreeing with you heavily.
A Nuke Plant will last a LOT longer with less people using it, hell, one regular power station would probably last for a few thousand hours if it's not turned off/has faults, if it's only running a single settlement.
One thing mentioned during Brooklyn was the need to snatch their micro reactor due to energy issues at Pentco
yeah I know, but the explanations are clearly far from realistic
That or they’re running Pentco so hard to meet demand they need more sources to relax the reactor
If you're going to complain about issues with the setting, then you have to give an explanation why.
I mean it was a side note not a real complaint, like it's funny, but def not a deal breaker
How is it funny?
There's perfectly feasible explanations for pretty much everything you're bringing up.
well, nuclear is def not the energy source you'd want in this scenario, too dangerous, unreliable, it's also not able to consume less material even if you don't have much plugged in cause of critical mass
I think we can blame BT for that, since the settlements themselves are pretty much under renewable energy by this point.
it's a good use for security missions like countdown tho
Nuclear Energy is not unreliable or dangerous, what 90's cartoon did you get that from.
Also, one of the things I’ve read and just remembered the comm for was McManus having access to ANNA, so would it be safe to say McManus isn’t interested in gaining info through ANNA or ANNA isn’t spilling the beans on the rogue network?
ANNA has at least some form of sentience, so it's probably fairly safe to say that if ANNA wants to just not answer someone, ANNA will likely just ignore their question. We saw it during that Manhunt when they shut up the 2 people talking.
I dislike using gendered pronouns for ANNA, as I'm not sure if it's even applicable, or if they've picked one of it is. Just to explain why I'm stretching out the replies lol.
I mean I live in a country that is powered almost only by nuclear, we used to get ads to tell us to consume more energy cause they were out putting too much and they can't slow it down, so it out a strain on the network, also it's very unsafe when there are so many factions around wanting to blow it up, and the source material is unreliable to me, idk much about the us situation on this, but they ain't really known for their safety standard
I'm not American.
yeah I know, I'm just saying they aren't good, not saying you
I also had a goofy thought about how we first snatched Keener’s watch, we got the shd level stuff, so imagine we snatch McManus’s watch for the devs to implement something else Which I significantly doubt would happen
that's just my view of it, but as I said, def not the most unrealistic
I'll be honest, a lot of your replies in this channel just come across as you wanting to bad-mouth the lore of the game for whatever reason, so it makes it hard to take what you say seriously.
I don't want to sound mean, I'm just saying it could be better
