If it's your first time, I wouldn't really recommend you skipping anything, unless you would prefer to skip to WONY at your discretion regardless of getting used to the mechanics at early levels or if you care about the lore or story @dusty sentinel

The Coyote boss? Sure, but that mission without Masks being the TL gives you one chance to drop it at the final boss.
With TL, it gives you a chance (increased with added Directives) to drop on every enemy within that zone.

Challenging just removes all but gold/exotic/gearset drops to narrow down the potential loot pool.

The World Tiers are incredibly short, and if you skip them on a Character, you can never replay that part of the Story again, unless you make an entirely new Lvl 0 Char.

About once a week the map will effectively "reset" once you're at Lvl 40 anyway, div2 is an ever evolving landscape, less-so than a thing you can 100% complete.

You can technically keep all CPs green if you want. I do for easy traveling

Once the Invasion hits, some will reset.
resetting your world via difficulty/directive changing can also change that too.

In the long-term, you actually want them non-green, since you're going to need to farm out some Blueprints from the CPs pretty soon.

generally it is worthwhile to keep going with the world tiers if you are interested in the lore/story, and skipping to wony will also lock you out of some achievements if you care about those

in world tiers you will do the invaded missions, those are reskinned versions of the normal missions with black tusk. they are also doable once you reach endgame on a rotation, and all side missions you may still have will count as completed and will be gone, but other than that, if you want to skip to wony you will miss out on only that really

the research stuff for those is to unlock them, or if you already have them unlocked because of ultimate edition/year 1 pass, its to unlock some blueprints/apparal/weapskins and such

to level them you gain 3 points per level up, you can also do projects, invaded missions and daily bounties for more points, the spec has to be active at teh time of completion for it to count for that spec

completing the research if you bought the special edition of the game gives you access to some unique rewards, including outfits, a gun, cosmetics, etc.

most of your gear is junk once you start towards 40, with the exception of exotics, there is a mechanic to upgrade them to 40 once you reach that point, so hang on to those

it's extremely flexible: you can set the difficulty anywhere from Normal to Legendary, and the directives from none to 10, so it's really up to you.

if it's capacitor or ridgeways you need, both are relatively simple to get and don't really rely on luck (although ridgeways will still take a significant amount of time). If it's anything else, you can farm it in other places too, Summit is just more convenient as you can set your own target loot and have more directives active

Countdown works great due to the large amounts of enemies and how fast they die.
For anything outside of that, Summit is a great way to farm it out.

As long as the TL is correct and it's at least on Challenging (Countdown is), it'll work.

Farming Floor 10 on Challenging for exotics isn't as good as you think. I'll just paste the info from the vroom speedrunning server:

If you play on challenging, your only exotic drop source from floor 10 is targeted loot with a very low chance (less that 1% at a time). E.g. SMG targeted loot can only drop Chatterbox (if you have the blueprint), Backfire and Lady Death.

If you play on heroic or legendary difficulty, an additional loot pool called “end of mission pool” applies. This pool contains most exotics in your loot pool with a higher drop chance (4% on heroic, 5% on legendary).

Every time you clear floor 10, the game checks this loot pool and rewards you a random exotic if you are lucky. Example: You can get Memento, Merciless or Bullet King while you have SMG targeted loot selected.

if you are talking gear mods, from targeted loot if its its on openworld/missions, or from setting it as your targeted loot in countdown or summit
i would say countdown atm is the best way to farm for it

assuming you are at lvl 40, they have changed the way that one works, pieces drop from any faction (so also the NY ones) at 40 randomly, so it may take some time to get them as its rng, but you dont have to stick to specific factions.

True Sons are kinda like PMCs, or they have more formal military-like training than the other two who love to fire from cover and their dumb LMGs.

nah, the bow guys are scavengers, different faction altogether (and along with the 'underground' faction, don't have any activities, missions or CPs - just spawn at random in the open world/summit)

underground guys do appear at the start of federal bunker, but that's the only exception

NY also has some random guys with AKs (which currently have the same dodgy weapon skins as the white house guards) who I think are probably the remnants of the Rioters from the first game, as they often seem to end up in combat with scavengers or other factions

the countdown hunters dont count as hunters for that project, the floor 100 ones should have though, you also dont need the kill shot on them, just having a shot on them will count. double check that it isnt rogues that you still need

otherwise if you still need hunters, you can also do the schaeffer manhunt mission in coney island, the hunter in that mission counts, you can just run it twice on normal

I think you could target loot Uzina gear and hopefully Closer will be... closer to you. I'm pretty sure it's available in the general loot pool.

It's really all about randomness even when it comes to targeted looting.

things to check:
in the ingame audio setting make sure the master slider isnt set to zero,
in windows check that your audio output is set to the right device as the default,
in windows taskbar, right click the speaker volume icon and select volume mixer, make sure it isnt muted or zero in there

there are two different systems, one is proficiency that you level on items, expertise levels from all the proficiency added up together. in the case of weapons and gear you can keep leveling them upto proficiency level 10, where it caps

Recalibration means you can change an Attribute/Talent, Exotics are always locked.
Reconfiguring means you can alter the % of the stats to a random amount.

You can replay the weekly invaded missions. You just can’t make non weeklies invaded. Do DUA, get the second piece, then you should be able to get the blueprint from Puck from the hotel.

best stuff to spend it on depends on how far you are into builds and expertise, the 3rd named item it sells is worthwile if its a dz item like this week for donating to the proficiency system, as that can speed up and skip that item, it takes 1500 coins to go from 0 to 10 prof.
the named caches are good for getting dz items aswell, and can be the way to get some of those for builds and donating
and the exotics caches are good for if you want to expertise items, the cost in exotic components is the speedbump for most to get their stuff upgraded

I find a use for it during the 'Hollywood' global event, the explosive damage it does when you detonate the offensive primer will disable enemy shields, allowing you to get kills at a reasonable speed without having to use annoying explosive skills

Don't bother buying anything as you level up, you move through them so quickly that it's basically just burned credits.

Only time you should ever be buying stuff is if you're Lvl 40 (assuming you own WONY) or Lvl 30, wt5, assuming you don't.

I personally don't play in the DZ, but there's been reports of targeted loot not working in any DZ. Targeted loot rarely or doesn't show up as proper rewards. I'm unsure if this has been resolved since it was reported some weeks ago.

I got the BP from a named cache, if that helps out, from the Countdown vendor with those req points. Run Countdown as much as you like to get those named caches as many times as possible. Hopefully, you'll get it within the first 5 caches but ultimately RNG.

there arent any world tiers at 40, neither gearscore, they didnt continue those mechanics for wony, overall i would say its better without, as world tiers only were grinding, and gearscore only showed how well your gear was rolled, not if you had an actual build, you could have a 500GS actual build that would fully outperform a 515 godrolled rainbow build

You can optimize as long as you have the mats for them. It'll be very expensive but you can certainly max out your attributes by optimizing them and having enough patience.
You can only recalibrate an attribute or a talent once for that gear or weapon, with exotics as exceptions.

When you complete WoNY you get SHD levels. Until then you go from 30 to 40.

SHD levels have 5 different categories: Offensive, Defensive, Utility, Handling, and Scavenging. You get one point per level up for one of the five. So every 5 levels you will have gotten one point in each category and it will reset back to the first one.

Technically the max level is 1000 to gain all the passive benefits from SHD leveling.

after that all levelling goes into scavenging

Don't get too attached to high-end gear if you're hunting for a specific weapon. Just make sure (assuming this exists on consoles because I know jack about that) to farm the allocated loot locations for that weapon type and start sorting through what is useable and what isn't. My advice is to get a gun with a least two maxed out stats, preferably the core attributes, and have an attribute as the variable you like to keep so you can just roll any talent you want on it, or keep one with a talent you want and put a variable attribute on it you like. I've had better experience with keeping the variable attribute and just switching out the talent. If you have a Marksman rifle with crit damage for example, I personally can't really imagine wanting anything else on it. Depends a bit on build though

if you farm RK for donation, you'll probably get a crapload of forges anyway. additionallly, they're pretty common at the vendors so you could just buy 20 of those

yes. i used printer filaments for dz exclusive named items that i know i have a slim chance of getting ahold of. same for named items i barely use or ones that can only be crafted

You can donate materials to increase proficiency, from white to purple

eventually, you'll be at a certain proficiency level where it becomes to difficult to get the exact item you need for it to become proficient. like with ARs. the more ARs you proficient, the more you have to grind to be proficient at one specific AR by donating

then farmed named items in general by doing countdown opening hunter farm
dz named and craftables, printer filament. same with exotics i barely use.
everything else, printer filament from skill mod deconstructs
