Currently next to inventory there is the cherry blossom event, you click that then you go to priority objectives and aim for whatever has exotic item (i prefer open world, lucky i have one so i can send a pic. Before and after i decrypt it

Exotic components are useful, you also might still miss some exotics. Legacy season caches are good for certain items in terms of expertise that are hard to get otherwise, Named Item Caches are the same thing, basically. It really depends on what YOU wanna do, all those caches are great and useful

No, the 10 minute timer is for a different kill squad, but they can intervene with your "lantern" kill squad from time to time.
Usually the lantern kill squad spawns after interacting and running around for a few seconds and isn't linked to the 10 minute timer..

If you kill the kill squad from the 10 minute timed spawn, it doesn't count for the lantern, you need to kill the kill squad that is tied to the lantern interaction.

Visually there is no difference, just kill another one and you should be fine.

You interact with the lantern, it triggers a kill squad, but it doesn't spawn right away, it awaits an opportunity to spawn, based on the zone and view direction of the player, as long as this pending spawn isn't cleared by spawning and defeating/evading it, you can't interact with the next lantern.

We've seen reports of lanterns not being interactable. This usually means a Kitsunebi encounter is still active or pending nearby. Complete that encounter before activating another lantern.

You actually need 110 in total to get both the Community and Apparel Cache's maxed out.
As for spawns: squads drop rates are buffed by difficulty, ronin's have a 100% no matter what.
So doing the 40 Lanterns are a great start, and a squad also spawns every 10 IRL minutes.

Don't stress too much over the community cache, you only need to donate 1 key to open all 3 tiers of reward, which you can right now.
Donating 80 gets you literally just 4 arm-patches. Nothing else.

The kitsu-squads that spawn, their drop-rates for keys are buffed by what difficulty you're on, but not Directives.
Ronin spawn after every couple of squads, and are basically Hunters that guarantee 1 key drop.

I'm kind of a newb/casual gamer so I barely know what is going on.

I got the costume, and donated 03/80 Sakura keys.

I probably won't have time to grind for that much more before the end of the event and the option to buy keys seems to be gone.

Also, trying to manage my inventory/stash.

I vaguely remember from years ago that exotics are good and Striker is a good set.

I feel a little overwhelmed by looking at crit, gear, skills, named, levels, etc. and I get confused by what means what or pouring over all the names of what I should look for, etc.

@hollow widget The kitsu-squads spawn every 10 IRL minutes, with a Ronin spawning every few squads, about 5 for me but ymmv.
Squad drop rates for keys is based on difficulty (not Directives), Ronin have a 100% drop chance.
I'd suggest you pick a spot where you can consistently fight them at an advantage, and use that area. To guarantee a win on Heroic, for your highest drop chance.

The specific ones I listed have a kind of 'quest' (sometimes a project on your project list but not always) where you have to collect all the parts in order to craft them for the first time. Once crafted, they'll start dropping in your regular loot (except regulus)

i lied. i had the optimizer set to 65, so it was only finding +65 builds. once i set it to +70, i was able to get one. Saturate defense, invert offense, saturate offense

Just in case you didn't know, the star on each stat at the end screen says who actually did the most of any stat, but as long as people actually trying it's all good.

Echo is just a chance for extra damage. Infinite oxidiser sounds a bit like maybe just the cooldown Modifier maxed out.

@robust fog Invaded Missions and the Stronghold (and Tidal Basin) increase the Agitation meter for BT.

Also, just doing any other faction's stuff will gradually increase BT as well.
(if you want to focus on Activities though, nearby Tidal Basin will consistently respawn them, and don't forget about Bounties.

only his head takes actual damage. his body takes no damage whatsoever and will not build striker stacks, shooting his body will count against your accuracy even. to prevent his healing and stop his pulse attack you can break his backpack, and like with other white tusk chungas you can break his chain to temporarily CC him
