I don't think Burster Firefly is ever going to make the cut, and I may donate my way out of it if I finally get too tired of trying with it. But, as I mentioned, the flame turret didn't turn out too bad, actually, and I might even use it again in some situation. At any rate, I do not at all regret having put in as much time as I did on it.

I think you should ask some people who haven't done WONY runs for expertise their SHD and proficiency levels and that might give you a better idea of where you'll end up.

I don't think I've ever met someone who was 23 and didn't WONY their last like 2+ levels at least.

basically, you just go through them ASAP to get to the WONY expansion, after which your gear will start actually mattering.
Just use the highest end stuff you can find that lets you complete the Strongholds, and make sure you complete all the missions on Story Mode before you leave for NYC in the chopper.

Daily and weekly projects, sure; those will be replaced by different ones at lv.40. In particular, completely the weekly donations for an Exotic Cache; you'll get a new version of that immediately on hitting level 40, even if you did the level 30 one that week. The missions that are not daily/weekly you can leave for later. (This is all IIRC, I've not done a level-30-in-Washington character to the WONY campaign in quite a while.

My first character, I didn't pay much attention to the story either; it's the usual lame stuff. I did spend quite some time at World Tier 5, though, learning all the game systems, getting all the blueprints, etc. But I don't think that's really necessary.

Is Expertise worth to progress early in the game? I have donated 100 items and it seems like there is a long way to go until I see some progress happening there

Proficiency also progresses through normal play, so if you're reasonably experienced it's no issue to cycle through various loadouts over the weeks to build up Proficiency levels and expertise. I reached Expertise level 4 or 5 through just a week or two of play, without donating anything at all. But if you're not such an experienced player, you may want not to be changing to rather different loadouts every day or three.

1. FAVORITE anything you want to keep.
2. Work on recal library
3. Donate junk to proficiency
4. Check your mats and if you are at 9999 donate some to proficiency
5. Decon

Money isn't an issue in this game. Run a bounty if you need credits. I don't even use SHD scav points for it as I'd rather use them for optimization mats.

I've never used SHD Scavanger points for money, but I find that early on in a character's life, money can be a problem. Just selling my named items instead of deconstructing them mitigates that reasonably well.

Zero time, effectively, since they come in naturally while I'm doing other stuff. It's like getting the money from a Heroic bounty without having to do it, every six or seven activities or whatever.

I mean at a certain point WONY will net you WAY more credits than any farming and is an option but I don't find it fun nor do I think you should suggest it to new players.

Actually, it's less fun than just deconstructing them because it's a bit more work. But I find it worth it for the cash, at least until I get up to a half mil or so. Maybe I don't do as many bounties as other people, though. But I don't think so; I do a lot of Shepherd calls, so I get whatever bounties happen there.

I really don't understand how some people are always so credit poor either. Bounties give keys/xp/tac assesments/are in some cool side mission spots you don't see often. Idk it's just a cool thing in the game.

Bounties can be kind of tedious to get to, for many of those locations. That might put some people off.

the normal part of the game is a looter-shooter, closer to destiny or borderlands. Dark Zone is kiiiiinda similar but not really. You take your gear in and that stays on you no matter what, it wont be dropped when you die. The stuff you find while in the DZ will need to be "extracted", similar to vehicle extractions in Tarkov but you only put the gear you've found in DZ on the vehicle and it takes it.

global event that basically turn your weapon into a bullet hose. activate and kill, npcs make a golden bullet and youll see a yellow ring forming. once you kill them youll have like a yellow energy or w/e indicating you have golden bullet and every kill refreshes buff while its active and also refills your magazine on active weapon. i believe you get a damage and weapon handling bonus but im not sure exact amount

Well, best for "make the game easier." I kinda like the "make the game harder by making you do more management ones," like Polarity Switch. Though I must admit, I have a soft spot for Reanimated because I just love those head explosions.

Kinda depends; I've used it when I happened to need armour and didn't have anything better. But that hasn't been for a while, except when I was grinding it for Proficiency.
For me, Alps and Richard & Kaiser are generally auto-junk, because I don't use those in my builds, at least not yet.
Really, it depends on what you're building. If you're not sure if you'll need something, it's generally safe to junk it (the exceptions might include some Exotics); you play for any length of time and you'll see whatever you junked again later.
And remember, the stats on an item (the particular ones, moreso than their percentages) make a huge difference as to whether osmething is junk or not, and which ones are good depend heavily on the builds you want to make.

Yeah, overcoming my hoarding instinct has been one of the hardest things about this game. Especially when you get a perfect piece but you don't need it.

Oh, and one thing you can invariably junk is any Gear Set (the turquoise ones) item that has skill on it that you're not going to use immediately. Those have only one other attribute, which means one recalibration turns it into anything it can be.
(Almost. There are times when you replace the skill core attribute, but probably not worth getting into that right now.)

Ah, classic example. This is nearly perfect; it's cheap to optimise the Armor Regent attribute, and the Weapon Handling can be recalibrated to a perfect version of anything you want. But will I ever use this in a build? Probably not. So a beautiful item goes to junk, sigh.

I guess the most important thing is to spend as much time as you can doing new builds, and tweaking old ones. As you do that, you'll get a sense of what kinds of things are necessary and what item characteristics would tell you to keep an item because it's likely to be useful.

Oh, one more trick: when you're back at a safe space sorting through the stuff you didn't have time to pick up as junk, go to a vendor and scroll though the inventory tab there for an easy way to see everything in your inventory that's not favourites.

That's because the 1-shot protection is on health, not armour. The protection is that you cannot die at full health. If you git hit hard, and your health goes down to "1 point" or "just about dead" or whatever you want to call it, you can fix all your armour (with an armour kit or whatever), but you won't have 1-shot protection again until your health regenerates to full.

Confirmed doesn't really matter; there are plenty of points during development at which a decision to cancel is reasonable anyway. Though those obviously become fewer as you get closer to release, even if they've had a preproduction team on it for a year or two now it's still quite cheap to cancel in the next year or so, before they've really geared up the development team.

Upgrades above level 10 (or 11 for armour) require exotic components, that's the point at which it's worth thinking about how much usefulness each upgrade provides, since exotic components are in rather short supply.

Upgrading armour is a waste of materials (unless you are expertise lvl 23 and already have more mats than you know what to do with. This is because the upgrades to armour give very little benefit compared to upgrading weapons and skills. You should try to get your favourite weapons upgraded to lvl 23 rather than upgrade some armour to lvl 10. The 'upgrades' to armour aren't well balanced and thats what@blazing timber is saying i believe.

So regulus, if you dont have one, That SMG thats unobtainable, UMP variant i think. Then there's a lot of DZ only named stuff you may not have. The Gift, Apartment, etc. All these are great uses of thos mats cos you'll be able to level up the expertise on items that actually help give you an ingame benefit, as opposed to 50k or armour.

Are there even right rolls for Overlord? On an all-red build, that 10% Rifle Damage takes your weapon damage modifier from 105% to 115%, and that move from from 1+1.05 to 1+1.15 is adding only 4.8%. Which is not totally insignificant, but I feel you can usually get more from other brands.
